You are basing your belief on the story that christians called Jesus "God" but it was popular at the time to use that word to identify a leader. Romans called their emperors "God," as well. It doesn't mean god was actually some guy named Jesus, and it doesn't mean god was an emperor. It was just the language at the time.
However, modern christianity relies heavily on the concept of "God" sacrificing his only son--Jesus. That's child sacrifice. You may feel a certain way about it, but it is no less a blood sacrifice than what was claimed in this video.

(I’m all for archaeological inquiry, btw.) To the PURE materialist, in search of PURE objective reality, histories springing from supernatural worldviews are deceptive until proven truthful.
Such ancient worldviews & cosmologies, IMO, are neither automatically all true or all false. But it’s safe to say there is much that is true and trustworthy in ancient sources, it’s not all imperialistic/nationalistic polemic.

Romans often left unwanted babies to the elements. Greek fathers had the right to kill children they deemed to be defective. Even in the Middle Ages infants and children weren’t especially expected to live past childhood. We are lucky in our age to cherish our children and expect them to live past adulthood. For anyone who has read the Bible carefully, the Israelites during the time of the prophets were constantly reprimanded for child sacrifice which they adopted from the Phoenicians (Canaanites). In fact, in Deuteronomy, Moses commands specifically that none of them follow the inhabitants of Canaan in causing "his son or his daughter to pass through the fire" to strange gods. There are many other references to this effect (i.e., 2 Kings 16:3, 17:17; Jeremiah 32:35). Most notably, however is 2 Kings 23:10: "And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech."
It is actually surprising that this is not acknowledged, but, I suppose it is to be expected from documentaries that are mostly concerned with allowing controversy to continue and keeping both sides happy. The apparent disconcern with data that does not fit the narrative always makes these sort of documentaries disappointing.

It's possible that the story of Abraham being ready to sacrifice his son was part of what was seen as a ritual sacrifice practice in his societies culture at the time he lived, thus, the story speaks of it.

Before then it was still part of some traditions, especially in Canann, where Abraham offered his son and even in Ur in Iraq where Abraham came from, to offer one's first born child to Bal, El, or Moloch.
Abraham wasn't officially a jew at the time he was willing to offer his son Isaac. He was doing what many people did in that region. That is why he didn't question God about offering his son to him.
It is only after God says he wants Isaac to be a 'living' sacrifice ( because Isaac will be the first Patriarch of the new religion that will be Judaism). That is how Judaism started.
When Isaac tried to leave the land of the Cananites, God said no, because he ( Isaac) was a living sacrifice dedicated to forming this new religion ( Judaism) and that he ( Isaac ) had to stay in the land to which he had been dedicated to ( Canann).
But Abraham expected to really give his son's blood to God in the same way many people did by tradition in Canan. He did not question it, just like people there did not question it.
It was only when God stopped him that he realized that this God was a God of this new religion that was being created at that moment, Judaism. And that this God, Yaweh, wanted Abraham's son to be live so Isaac could sacrifice his life to be dedicated to this new religion...Judaism.
They simply moved to symbolic sacrifice of a male child. It's called circumcision and allows one to have a son despite the sacrifice having been made. The foreskin is the embodiment of the child and offered as the sacrifice.
