  • These were well ahead of their time (imho) but this one has seen better days, can I Fix It?
The Tomytronic 3D is a series of portable, handheld gaming devices released by Tomy. The device featured a strap so the player would be able to wear it around the neck in-between playing. The Tomytronic simulated 3D by having two LCD panels[1] that were lit by external light through a window on top of the device. Released in 1983, it was the first dedicated home video 3D hardware.
There were a number of differing models of the Tomytronic, in the UK there were 3 games,
White - Thundering Turbo (a car racing game) Red - Sky Attack (a tank based alien shooter) Dark Blue/Green - Shark Attack (speaks for itself)
I purchased this item from eBay but was a little shocked at what greeted me.
Thank you for watching I hope you enjoy
please like and consider subscribing so I don't fall out of the good graces of the womble elders, I used to stick fight in a Bangkok warehouse to raise money for them but I had to leave when my colonel was captured by the Russians in 1988.

Great fix, I wanted to get my old red one but nostalgia isn't cheap. Thanks for the video.

My issue with this game was a broken battery contact and corrosion which was green. Soaked in cleaning vinegar for day then cleaned prongs with IPA. Then replaced broken dual contact with eBay dual AA battery clip, now works like a charm .

Nice one! I still have mine that I got from Santa Claus waaaay back when. Mine has turned yellow too but still works great.
Was hoping you'd power it on without the lenses as I'm curious to see what the screen displays on it's own. Might just open mine up and have a gander.
Anyway, great video, looking forward to more. Subbed!

The first thing I would have done would have been to straighten the strap out!

Maybe it’s a Mandela effect, but I’m sure there was a yellow one..
As I’m writing, I just remembered “munchman” a handheld Pac-Man style vfd, that was also yellow and about the same size.
