"Money flows through every back-channel door Cash crowns the king, there's no limits anymore Where the rule of law is now up for sale Where wealth and privilege buy a ticket out of jail " Yep, you nailed it Jay. His sentencing was postponed today.
You are brave. I take heart from your music. Let us "soldier on" and make this country what the framers (some of them, not all) imagined and proferred it might become.
The Americana vibe in this track is heart-melting! Jay and company, you guys are giving hope through your music. I mean it! I need more hope and so do lots and lots of people in this madhouse we all find ourselvse in. By the way, I bought your book "Falling Cars and Junkyard Dogs" quite recently. Will dive into it and devour it in no time! One day I will live in The USA! P.S. Can't wait to hear the rest of the songs from "Electro Melodier" when it comes out.
Grew up in the same city as Farrar. I'm ashamed to say that after all the years of Uncle Tupelo, etc., I've only recently become acquainted with their music.
@@craigestlinbaum5188 I'm a fan of Farrar and his work from when "Looking for a way out" was called "There was a time". My comment was just a sincere appreciation for this song, that imho fits perfectly with the best tunes of this very peculiar kind, namely Springsteen's "Born in the Usa" and Mellencamp's "Pink Houses", to which I feel this (beautiful) Farrar song somewhat connects. Songs that ring true about actual living in the Usa, each one for the time in which they were written. I'm loving what I've heard till now of Electro Melodier, sorry if it wasn't clear enough.
Sad days in America when no one sees the truth even when it’s right in front of our eyes take it off the shelf and put it in our heads Jay Farrar is a American messenger the messages are in many of his songs

@elidavidson5503 kind of like when Reagan try to steal the song Born in the USA which was promptly shut down buy springsteen. Then he tried to steal pink houses for his campaign events, and John Cougar said I think he better listen to those lyrics a little more carefully Mr president. I don't understand why patriotism and loving your country has to fit one cookie cutter perspective. What makes this country great is that we have diverse perspectives and if we don't allow those different perspectives to work things out, it might just be the end of this country. But I have hope that we are going to get through these times, where one candidate is running on vindication, personal gain, fear and hatred.
Who wrote the clunky lyrics, John Mellencamp? Good grief. Farrar has at times been pretty crafty about social commentary in his songs. Clearly, he's lost his deft touch, pining as he does here for an America that, quite frankly, never quite existed in the way he thinks it did as presented here, for many. Pretty broad nuance free take. Its certainly no " Out of the picture".
@@concatinate Agreed. This is the work of an esteemed songwriter who has spent time delving deep into Woody Guthrie? Pretty weak. Sounds more like a play for the mainstream in a way he never really has before.
