    Great video. Useful for those who start with distance learning. I usually view the module page before the start of the module in the OU, look at the TMA dates (if available) and just browse in random whatvever is on the page. And if upon registration it comes with a textbook, I start browsing this as well.

      EdTV yeah I forgot to mention books as I haven’t got any this year sadly, looking through the book as soon as you get them is always a good way to get a head start

    Hey Tom, I am doing a DipHE in Software Development with the OU, it's my first ever HE course at 35 years old, last time I was in education was in 2003 at York college and we really didn't have such a huge amount of free learning tools in courses and RUclips videos online. I think it's great people can just bang on a video like this while they dust their desk lol

      Thanks man! Glad to hear you’re enjoying it, I’ve started collecting the o’Reilly books myself by buying the pdf versions from bundle sites (humble bundle mainly) as I don’t want to get too used to having them all available through the OU haha

    Hey Tom love your videos mate really informative doing same course except I took the networking route ..just wandered is that software you mentioned similar to OneNote?

    • @TomWagstaff
      @TomWagstaff  4 года назад +1

      Taonga Tee thanks for watching, I’m glad they’re helpful! Yes in a way, Notion can do a lot more then OneNote (which is what I used last year). OneNote is a lot more straightforward though, which is definitely not a bad thing, I had to spend a couple of hours on Notion before I got the hang of everything and it still has some issues that OneNote does very well such as copying and pasting (very hit or miss) and having a offline mode etc.
      Notion is worth a look if you want something more comprehensive then OneNote though

      If you follow the study guide on your student page for the module it will tell you what to study each week. The TMA typically also says which part of the book each question is based off so you know which parts to re-read if you don’t know the answer.
