Painter, Painter: Dan Perfect, Fiona Rae | Axisweb

In March 2014 we were commissioned by Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery to make a film about artists Dan Perfect and Fiona Rae. The film has been made to coincide with their first joint exhibition 'Painter, Painter: Dan Perfect, Fiona Rae' which runs 3 May - 6 July at Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery.

I do think I saw Fiona Rae`s work in London in 1993-94! At first I became upset, but then this work went into my heart! I have never forgotten the colours and the movement of space! Love them!

I absolutely love Mr Perfect's paintings. I feel as though I could dive into one of his paintings and enter an alternate reality. But the haircut, really, needs an update.

Both make wonderful paintings. Big fan of their work. They are so similar and yet different. A male and female version of the same kind of person. If that makes any kind of since.

do,nt get me wrong !! art not be taught.. only craft can be taught ..craft is the vehicle on witch art can be discovered ...art can not be brought or sold only gifted

"directly connecting the manifest outcome of activity to some kind of inner model", "as a model and touchstone the feeling when I draw",.....why do people feel they have to use cliche to describe simply the act of painting

no but my partner is, painting is the hardest thing in the world, i get it. If you really listen, many words were spoken, but ultimately they are saying the same thing, in many ways of saying, that they are "painting", the size of the paintings etc. There's nothing ABOUT the paintings themselves. The only informative part is at the end when they talk about when a painting is complete, but even that is a lot of waffling. My point is sadly nowadays you need to talk like them for galleries, buyers and media to think you might perhaps is a serious painter (although I am not questioning whether the artists in the videos are "serious" painters or not)

patoises hm. i guess. there's an interviewer involved, though, asking certain kinds of questions.
it would be interesting to know if your partner feels the same way. i've come across a similar critique before, when a painter (daniel richter?) was describing the experience of painting instead of explaining the work... to me, that's always interesting. but then i paint quite a bit.

I am just questioning if I have learnt anything from this video.
I just checked out Daniel Richter video (thanks) - interesting paintings. I think he was being asked the same questions about the act of painting and he used "juggling" as a metaphor. Is saying "juggling 5 balls", as he did, any less interesting than saying "directly connecting the manifest outcome of activity to some kind of inner model"?

patoises Yes, I get it. The interviewer has apparently asked them about their process... Which is inevitably a very subjective thing and often difficult to describe.
