Well, yes, he's a walking corpse but with purple skin. Plants aren't familiar with that (+ Michael doesn't eat brains) so they just didn't do anything.

Plants have genders because when you look in the pvz 1 & 2 almanac, most of them use gender pronouns. (Though not all plants have genders, I wanted to make characters out of them. And therefore, that's how some of them got their genders. Which are overall fan-made.)
