Well, yes, he's a walking corpse but with purple skin. Plants aren't familiar with that (+ Michael doesn't eat brains) so they just didn't do anything.
Kinda wish instead of animations you made them react to their certain abilities and what not since the animations don’t really show anything but their daily life

Plants have genders because when you look in the pvz 1 & 2 almanac, most of them use gender pronouns. (Though not all plants have genders, I wanted to make characters out of them. And therefore, that's how some of them got their genders. Which are overall fan-made.)

His eyes were canonically white, they only turn blue when he's using his energy or in a battle. I didn't know earlier but I changed them after.
