Miss Snow did exactly what she was bred to do! She was protecting her little lamb Lisette. Good for her and hopefully the bears aren't too much of a nuisance this year. May the 4th be with you!

Lisette, I, too, live with black bear neighbors in a PA USA National Forest. My Golden Retriever had a “bear bark” that I wouldn’t want to mess with! Miss Snow is your protector! I always bring my bird feeder in at night, so that is something you might want to consider. They are bear magnets. Enjoy your wilderness, and stay safe. ❤🐻🌷

Glad you are ok. I had an encounter with a black bear about 10 years ago. I was coming out of the outhouse at our property near North Bay and the bear was coming down the trail to our lot. Luckily there was a shovel leaning on the outhouse and I used it to bang on the side of the outhouse and shouted at it. It bolted off into the bush and it took me a little bit to settle myself down. Miss Snow would have done everything she could to defend you no doubt. Be well and stay safe Lisette.👍👍🇨🇦

Lisette a bear has nasal senses 14 times better than a Bloodhound So a good tip I learnt from a Trapper because he cleans beaver around his house And Beaver is like candy too Bear so pour a gallon of chlorine bleach (Not the flowery one) But around your bush line it'll deture them bigtime they can't stand bleach ,Old Bert would hang his beaver pelts up on shed walls they'd never be taken away, Sure wakes you up hey Good thing you had miss Snow ,It probably was smelling the BBQ

Good morning, Miss Lisette and Ms Snow… a close encounter of a very scary kind I am sure… Being you are in the location that you are, you probably have a lot of wild animals around there….but a bear is not one that will play with you like the other little animals that you have around your place… Always be on guard especially at night time. I am surprised that miss Snow didn’t hear the bear approach because MsSnow has keen hearing and smell. I always keep my 2 best friends within arms reach to keep me safe at night, you may have heard of them…I’ll just put their initials you may know of them Mr. S&W and their closest 7 friends…. Because our seeing in listening abilities are somewhat diminished because of the nighttime it is always better to be prepared and safe… Have a great Saturday Lisette ,and as always stay safe, be healthy, and God bless… from central Texas! Yeeehaw👍👌🤠

Hello Ms Lisette! Your vignettes are truly heartwarming. Here in southern Ontario I only have to contend with overfed raccoons, a beautiful skunk (I like those critters!), groundhogs, plus squirrels and chipmunks. Nothing like a bear!
I enjoy the interaction with your pet dog. Very caring.
As as dinner party joke, when the conversation turns to cats and dogs, I venture my opinion that, if people were to treat their partners like they treat their favourite dog or cat, there would be a more harmonious home life with far fewer divorces. This admonition has been borne out in in practice for me:-))
Think of all the activities you enjoy, being shared with a loving and like minded mate. Heaven on earth!

Anything that creates light or noise can help to discourage bears. Motion-sensitive lights can be very helpful in deterring bears from getting too close. Anything noisy set up outside, such as a string of tin cans, could rattle around and make noise, which makes bears avoid your place.

Dearest Lisette, I am glad that you are safe and that Miss Snow helped protect you from your visitor. I know that you are an experienced, practical young woman and that you have lived in the wilderness for many years, but I am going to offer you some advice and suggestions, just for you to think about. First is the time of the year right now. The bears are waking up from their long winters sleep and they are "Cranky, Hunger, and Pissed Off at everything" and will attack pretty much anything that looks like a meal. Secondly, the Sow's are coming out with their babies. The mommies are also Hungary plus they need to eat so they can feed their babies. You are a great person for taking hikes in the woods and most of the time you have Miss Snow with you, but there are also times when you leave her home while you take a canoe trip, or go for water, or many other things that you end up doing by yourself. So, my suggestions are 1) get an empty 16oz beer can and put a few small stones in it and wear it on your belt. While you are walking, it will make noise and alert a bear that you are nearby and cause him to go away. 2) Carry some "Bear Spray". There are many types available, so I would ask around to find out what works best. Carry that on your belt as well. 3) Lastly, I know that you have a Pistol, but I do not know the caliber that you carry. I do have a suggestion for a great Caliber for you to carry, on your hikes and canoe trips. I recommend that you buy yourself a .41 Magnum Caliber pistol. For you I'd recommend a Double Action Revolver, you can use a Single Action, if you'd like since it looks like that is what you already have, I'm a big fan of Ruger's, but you might have your preference for another brand. The reason that I recommend the .41 Mag is its power when fired. To me, it has only a little stronger than the .357 mag pistol, but not the massive kick of the .44 mag. Additionally, the .41 mag has almost the same knockdown power and bullet weight of the .44mag.
Anyway, I just want you to be safe and continue to enjoy your life up there in wilds of Canada. Take care and I'm looking forward to your next video.

It can be your trash and the bird feeders
Once they have that smell where the food is they may be back again.
But with Miss Snow protecting you and making all that barking she is letting the bear know not to get any closer
I am glad everything is fine but you may have to have that side arm a little closer during this time of year.

bonjour, Lisette and Miss Snow, sounds like you had a visit from a young bear on it's own for the first time. Had it been a grown bear, it would have probably messed with the BBQ on the side of your cabin and would not have ran off so fast. A full size bear would not have run off that quickly, it would have taken the light as more of a challenge. This is just my opinion after living with bears for 76 years. Then again, be careful because, momma could still be hanging around. Take care you two. 🐻🐾👀😳🐕🌷

Where I live there are black bears. I have a picture where someone had put out apples they had a picture where there was a huge pile of apples there were eight bear. They had eaten so much some were almost asleep 💤 still chewing. Where you spend so much time outside there is no doubt They are around, I heard that they can smell along way I believe it as all animals can. I don’t think The bears where I live will bother you. I have spent most of my life in the woods they are here I have seen them so far everything been ok. I must admit Lisette when you mentioned the bear was that close to you outside the window I got the goose bumps on my arms, head. If he wanted in he would have broken the window. Thanks for sharing. You weren’t even cooking. Looking forward to tomorrow’s video my sweet, brave friend, if that had of been some women they would be still historically crying completely out of control. Awwww, sweet Snow protecting mommy. Four times in eight years is a pretty good average. Perhaps, maybe, you could invest in some bear spray in case a bear gets too cozy with you both.

Good advise on the bird feeder. I remember I had a couple feet of snow on the ground and overnight a bear came through and took my bird feeder. So in the morning I start tracking the bear to see if I can get the feeder back. Then after about 100 yards I asked myself what I was doing tracking a bear with nothing to defend myself and promptly did an about face. Never did find that thing.

Lisette, so glad Miss Snow is there to alert & protect your home.
In many ways, it's better to have 4-legged wildlife visit than 2-legged critters
(unwanted people), as wildlife behavior is much more understandable...
You two be safe, & try to rest tonight.
So looking forward to Sunday "coffee withisette & Miss Snow 😊

With the beauty of living in nature is occasional interactions with, i was living in an isolated cabin at Mt Robson, went to cut firewood and had a weird feeling after when i was walking back there was fresh wolf tracks on top of mine. The first year i moved to Jasper was records for bears in town, even had one come into the hotel i was working at and made its way to the 3rd floor and then we drove it out that was an interesting day, bears that run away are usually harmless and still bonded with their environment

I would Get some bear spray especially for your outhouse visits. An airhorn or fire extinguisher works well in a pinch too.

I’m sure you know how to deal with bears. Here in Pennsylvania I deal with black bears yearly and have had 4 very close encounters with them. The scariest was with a Momma bear and 3 cubs on my property. Every once in a while I need a wake up call this time of year as they return from their semi slumber. Always be cautious when I first come out and survey my surroundings.
Be safe and very good you have Ms Snow……2 real beauties! God Bless and enjoy your kayak ride. So very peaceful on the water.

When I lived in Maryland, there was a Black Bear in our housing development. He got in the garbage cans and stole 50 pound bag of bird seed off my neighbors deck.

Dang lady, you be safe out there, maybe if you don't already have some, invest in some bear spray.

Bears live in the woods so that is always something to be aware of. Good the bear ran off - may not comeback now. But for awhile bring puppy with you when you go outside. I was in the wood fishing about a week ago and had a huge one walk by. 500 lbs at least. I’ve seen a lot of them so am a pretty good judge. Left me alone though which is good.
They are curious animals so probably just checking things out. Keep the house locked and be aware. I think they are beautiful to see in their natural setting.

Maybe install some sensor lights outside your cabin one on each side, that way you will know if something approaches and maybe they will scare off those predators, also keep bear spray close at hand and a good weapon too, be safe Darlin, both of you!

Put up motion lights, so you will know when something is out there. We put one up on our shed it works on batteries. We get all types of night creatures, skunks, racoons and others the light lets the dogs know when we have visitors. Helps keep things safe.
