    This seems like a good summary. Something like: xNURBS will succeed 95% of the time whereas patch succeeds 85% of the time. They're both great tools. The underside is an interesting example, xnurbs g2 is way better, but the other cases are subtle enough that it won't matter. I'm not entirely convinced that comparing the rebuilt surfaces makes sense, but otherwise super interesting. Also, btw, you can now run the join command (j) with only one sheet selected and then select the other sheet. It allows you to chain the xnurbs command without having to box select.

      With the rebuilds I tried to make patch from different inputs the same (loft, patch, xnurbs) to show that Plasticitiy can maintain the quality in many types of situations, which is already the case with patch and xnurbs without or after any modification. But maybe its is a bit overdose.

    Whatever the reason is that you're not narrating your tutorials, I'd ask you to reconsider. Value would increase so much to listen to some narration of thought processes and tips and tricks.
    Still, appreciate the effort. Do you have any tutorials that are narrated? Still waiting for someone-who knows what they are doing-who can introduce surface modeling to people used to direct polygonal modeling.
    I can already build stuff in Plasticity and I have lots of experience in Blender and C4D, but still looking for a good intro from an expert surface modeler. And yes, I have seen MANY tuts from "enthusiasts" who are "thinking as they teach".

      Yes, narration please. The "why" is just as important as the "how". RUclips does a very good job of translating languages. The viewer just needs to turn it on.

      This isn't a teaching channel... it's a show what's possible in very very skilful hands product demo. KS doesn't sell Plasticity teaching products. I really value KS's content as it is - this way there's less comment distraction preferring to keep on modelling I assume.

      Please answer why he calls this his easiest tutorial then? I know he doesn't model as fast as he has edited these videos to play. I cannot even see what he is doing. I also cannot tell what keypresses he is using because the icons that are supposedly indicating them are useless to me. What use is Mouse button x 7. BTW I appreciate his contribution and simply lament that my poor skills don't allow me to take it in at this speed.

      @@twat1952a Then view at the slowest speed 0.25. Watch other Plasticity videos from a learning / teaching source - 'Learn Everything About Design' has a good informative approach with vast in-depth experience in many of the popular CAD programs including Plasticity. He's a good teacher.

      @@TAH1712 Thank you for your constructive reply. I usually download videos such as his and recode at a much slower speed so I can follow on. I have another of his videos, the pistol stock, that I have been able to eventually see what he does in more detail. My only point was that it would be more useful for all if the author made his videos easier to follow. Conversely if he didn't speed them up so much those who wanted to view it faster could more easily speed up the video I think. I do appreciate his textual notes on this video. That is a very useful method of teaching. Actually putting dimensions in those notes would be useful for more detailed videos. The screen resolution even at 1080 makes it difficult to pick out the tiny dimensions from the native plasticity display and the flash by in a single frame.

    Amazing deep dive. Thanks!

    Nice... Cant believe it could resolve that mega patch!
    One request! Could you please show a tutorial about how you would do this using only traditional quad boundary patches (without patch or x nurb commands of 5+ sides)?... That would be more interesting and great learning!

    Is XNURBS a separate DLL that must be purchased separately or is it packaged with Plasticity? Edit* I saw Nick's post regarding incorporating it as part of the package. 👍

    I think I'll upgrade to a study license. By the way, are those matcaps only in the beta version? Thanks for this tutorial.

      I heared the Matcaps are in development, the default mc has changes and man people don't like it.

      I'm only on indie but watching the videos I don't like the new default either as it hard to understand what's going on in the cavities the peaks are clear enough but it loses definition in the shadow. Needs more of a soft gradient between the highlights and the shadows tbh

    This is the same xNURBS available as an addon to solidworks and rhino? Is it being introduced as a part of Plasticity's basic package, or is it going to be a paid addon?

    • @Kuechmeister
      @Kuechmeister  4 месяца назад

      Yes, it is the same kernel. It will not be a add on or plugine, it will be fully implemented in Plasticity studio and the price will be stay at 300 dollar.

      @Kuechmeister  4 месяца назад

      Operations like in this video with XNURBS are not possible in Moi3d, when the official Release of Plasticity Studio with XNURBS is coming, Plasticity will be much more powerfull.
