I agree. The amount of people I've seen disrespect garbage collectors on social media and the like sickens me. They provide a very important service, and the job apparently plays pretty well too. They deserve to be respected.

People also talk down to people in the hospitality industry and retail. Cooks, servers, front desk, housekeepers, etc. As if people are their servants and have to help them and do everything they say. While they demean and talk down to them. I'm so happy that some places have finally taken a stand against these Karen's and Chad's of the world.

My daughter many years ago, was just as excited for the garbage men as this little boy. She was sitting on the porch steps waiting and waiting. One day we had a bit of a crisis. She had a plastic horse with wheels She loved to ride back and forth on the sidewalk. Then the horse wheels broke off....couldn't be fixed. We had to throw it away. That day when "Mr Garbage Man" came, she sat there on the steps crying begging him not to take Horsey. Mr Garbageman looked at me with watery eyes and begged me not to make him take Horsey. He said he just couldn't break my 2 year old daughters heart like that. I gave in and we had that dumb broken riding toy horse tied up in the back yard for a very long time. For the 2 years we lived there, she continued to sit on the steps every garbage day just to wave and yell "Hello Mr Garbage Man"!😊

My grandson became obsessed with fire trucks. The local first station was awesome. One day they even showed up in the ladder truck just to take him for a ride.
When I was younger I was obsessed with garbage trucks even being a girl. I would always sit in my driveway and wave to them as they went by our alley. One day the driver got out and let me get in the truck. I got to sit inside and look at the controls and then honk the horn.
