The fact that this is sponsored by Komatsu, an actual heavy equipment company, makes it even more funny. I don't think you'd ever see Caterpillar putting their name on something like this!
NorthStarBlue1 Yeah, about that. They did have a game on PC. It was called Construction Zone and it had its own controller like this, only it went over the keyboard. I think it came out around 1999.
@@EmeraldBlack-up6xi The PS1 version actually has a dedicated controller for power shovel! I had to snag one once I learned about it. It's actually a very well built twin joystick controller. Im going to show it off on my channel sometime soon.
@@stewieroided3437 haha I was actually thinking about it recently. Life got too busy to continue uploading videos but I’ve thought about starting back up.
Power Shovel is totally nuts, incredibly Japanese, and insanely fun once you get used to the difficult controls - another classic Taito coin-op makes a successful transition to consoles! And gotta love the insane guy screaming, "Lets ride a power shovel!" in Japanese on the title screen!
Being a kid, not knowing any english (or how to even read at all for that matter), i already knew this game was weird af. I felt kinda lost in the beginning but quickly understood what i had to do most times. This means this random ass japanese excavator game for the ps1 is *extremely* well designed, to the point it got a 3 or 4-something year old controlling a simple version of an excavator. Not to mention how fun it was!
I LOVED this game back in the day. Yeah the controls were pretty rough but it was funny seeing the bad translations and the gameplay was def entertaining!
I remember my neighbor had this game. We lived in northeast Argentina and the game was in Japanese language. We played it a lot, but more as hazy migrants who didn't understand the instructions
Given how unfair some of those timers are, I'd hate to see a *harder* difficulty if that's the Normal one. Amazed how well and smoothly you controlled it, though.
They give you a lot of room to fail if you pick an easier difficulty, all of the timers are set by default to 200sec on the easiest level which is great as a 'sandbox' for getting used to the controls.
I think I either played a demo of this or it was rented for me when I was a kid. The unusual gameplay and the japanese announcer shouting constantly somehow stuck with me. I had to search google for awhile to even find out what the name of this was. Super weird game, still looks fun after finding it again.
I remember this game just popped up at our house one day and my brother and I could not stop playing it. I miss it alot.

Why isn't there the new power shovel for PS 4 ? I need an excavator simulation game like this.

Ah, this brings back some good memories!
Me too
What makes this extra weird isn't only that it's an excavator sim but done in a game show format.
*Sees NintendoComplete uploads a video.*
My day is complete! :D
Zerion The Shadowhog Thanks, what a nice thing to say :D
NintendoComplete No problem!
I’m glad other people have no clue how this game got in their system. But this just unlocked some crazy memories 😮
I loved this game as a kid, I remember it being a random find at EB Games and having a ton of fun with it
Car destroying is much easier if you use the sharp end of the claw...
I think the hardest one is the turtle catching and the claw obstacle course
Yosha... HAJIME!!!!
I played this so much growing up
oh man, wiper blade eyebrow canadian hitler used to piss me off SO MUCH in this game!
POWER SHOVEL

This game was so unforgiving. Absolutely no room for error

Thanks :) it took quite a bit of practice to learn how to coordinate the movements. The controls are really funky.

Hit car on roof.
Suddenly it explodes.
I always wondered what movie and video game cars are loaded with when they explode so easily. :V
It's poop
