Jady I started using your method when my son was 18 months and he’s now 3 and blows people away at how amazing of a reader he is. He’s going to be 4 and they want him to start kindergarten next year and he was moved up to preschool at 3

I looooove your videos!! I am a stay at home mom to a little 21 month old right now and love your toddler ideas but I'm also getting my mind prepped for more of this type of homeschooing in the future. Definitely saving all these videos! I used to teach kindergarten and never realized it helps to decode FIRST and not even do sight words yet. Such a good idea!

I like that word board. Thank you for sharing this. I just bought it from Amazon. I like that I can use this individually or small groups.
This format also looks easy for children to insert word cards. For some, every little hands on activity is golden. 😁💖

The problem is in the school systems, the teachers slide past phonics and move right into sight words. I witnessed this is a volunteer program I worked with. The second graders could not sound out any words. It is a disaster.

The words that my daughter come home with are all over the place . 2 letter words , 7 letter words etc and when I asked her teacher why the hell it’s like this she said that it’s the way the curriculum is aaaaaaand most of the words my daughter have, the breakdown will be taught later ….. I ALMOST LOST MY SHT . not to mention I teach phonemic sounds at home and her teach be correcting her in school , INCORRECTLY 😩. The school system is horrible

One of the trick I can share is start with teaching your children sounds at home. When you look at most two letter words the last letter says the sound. E.g up, it, go, if, am, an etc.

Sooo....how do you introduce the word 'A'??? And 'THE'? She's reading these words. Seems like before you even get into memorization, you should teach sight word spelling before you begin with sentences. The need to understand that a word is made up of letters and those letters make up a word. Maybe reinforced through a spelling song.
