  • In this dialogue, Ray Comfort, engages in a thought-provoking discussion with a Oneness Pentecostal who staunchly advocates for the necessity of water baptism for salvation. As the dialogue unfolds, Ray challenges the notion that water baptism is a prerequisite for salvation, citing biblical passages and real-life examples to support that salvation is a free gift from God. He emphasizes the importance of faith in Jesus Christ and the transformative power of grace, highlighting that salvation is not earned through works, including baptism.

Just like the fiery preacher of Jesus called Apollos (in Acts.18:25-26), brother Ray does not (yet) seem to understand the purpose & signifigance of baptism in Jesus & His death. Ray's practice concerning baptism in water and in Spirit, is not resembling that of the apostles & the early church in the Bible: that's why NONE of the people in Ray's beautiful videos who repent and believe in Jesus, are immediately led to be baptised in water and to receive the Holy Spirit of God, as opposed to what we consistently read in the examples of conversion in the book of Acts (for example in Acts.8:12-17, 35-38). Baptism in the name of the Lord is an essential part of our initial faith, repentance and conversion to Jesus - not isolated from it!!! Here you can find how baptism was practiced and understood in the Bible (not forgetting the baptism in the Holy Spirit!): Mark.1:4-5, Matt.28:19, Mark.16:15-16, Acts.2:38-41, Acts.8:12-17, Acts.8:35-38, Acts.10:44-48, Acts.16:29-33, Acts.19:1-6, Acts.9:17-18+Acts.22:16, Romans.6:1-7, Gal.3:26-27, Colossians.2:11-12, 1Peter.3:20-21. AMEN! Let us compare our beliefs and practice to these (not to anything else!): and may God give us revelation from His Word and obedience towards His name! Amen!

31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
    Acts 8:34-37
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
    Acts 8:38-40
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.

    • @kingjesuscomes

Its quite a narrow view what some people have nowadays when they talk about "being saved". Was Israel saved when it got released from Egypt by the blood of the passover lamb? Yes. Was it saved when it passed through the sea by God's mighty salvation, and Egypt with its armies was buried to the sea? Yes... Or was Israel saved when it entered the promised land led by Joshua whose name means "salvation"? Yes.
In biblical thinking, shouldn't all of these aspects be considered as what it means "to be saved"? See, these are some great foreshadows of the great salvation in Jesus Christ (1.Cor.10:1-13). Salvation is not only the gate, its the way, its not only the way, its the goal. Jesus is our salvation. He is our gate, our way and our goal. He is our Salvation!
To say that baptism saves can easily be misunderstood nowdays. But to say baptism has nothing to do with the full salvation in Jesus Christ is utterly unbiblical and goes against the words of our Savior Himself (Mark.16:16) and His apostles.
What are we saved from? When are we saved? What are we saved to? If we don't accept this "multifacetedness" of salvation in Jesus Christ, we will stumble at the Word everytime when it talks about the meaning of baptism, and what place it has on this "way of salvation".
Am I saved from my old life of sin? Or has the world still its hooks in me? God wants to give us totally clean start - the beginning! Have I truly surrendered to Lord Jesus, died to the world, and been saved from my sins? Is Romans chapter 6 real in my life? Or am I still bound and still carrying that rotten old man of sin that should now be dead and buried with Jesus Christ? This is the part of salvation in Jesus Christ where baptism is intended to have its purpose in Jesus Christ.
In baptism, we surrender BY FAITH to Jesus... to be buried into His death, so that being dead to sin and all that held us captive, we may walk in new life in Jesus Christ... (Romans.6:2-7) Free! How much power there is in His death, to deal with our old life!
Baptism is all about faith in the Savior. Its not "works of the law". Its not "our merits". No! It should be founded fully in Jesus Christ, by grace through faith: if one gets baptised without faith that holds in Jesus Christ, then his baptism is just another dead religious ritual availing nothing to him. But if one truly identifies in baptism with Jesus Christ in His death, by real surrender in faith in Him, he will experience the power therein! The world behind me, the cross before me, no turning back, no turning back!

What makes you think the thief on the cross is unique that he is brought up as being saved without baptism? He died under the old covenant, same as Moses. The command to be baptized had not been given yet, how could it have been? Christ hadn't died, been buried, or been resurrected. This is a poor argument, I hope that you can see my point and can accept correction. Most simply repeat what they hear.

The thief on the cross lived and died in the old Testament. According to Hebrews 9, a new testament does not go into effect until after the death of the testator. Christ is the mediator of the New Testament. So since the thief on the cross died before Christ died and rose again, he was subject to the laws of the Old Testament.
Since you are now under the New Testament, because you lived after Christ died, and rose again, you cannot claim to the same application as the thief. His life was under the same covenant or Testament, as all those who died in faith, not receiving the promise.
But those of us who are after the cross and resurrection have received the promise, and have access to the tree of life. So you must be born again, born of water end of the Spirit.
Repent and be baptized in the Name of Yehoshua HaMashiach(Jesus Christ) for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)

The thief on the cross was not in a position to be baptised, and the Gospels and epistles written later commands us to be baptised.
So why is it even an argument to make, unless you are physically unable to be baptised, which won't apply to most people. If you claim baptism is a work, then should we repent and confess our sins, or belive on Jesus either, as they are also "works".
Why not just be obedient within your capability to be baptised rather than making doctrine as to why not to do something clearly taught in scripture?

Jesus told the Pharisees, "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions." Mark 7:9. Then after giving some examples he said, "Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that." A current example would be as follows: Jesus said, "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved." Matthew 16:16. But you say, "He that believes and prays the sinner's prayer shall be saved and should eventually be baptized."
The Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7. He knows each individual and their unique situation. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required. Luke 12:48. Will God judge a person who didn't have an opportunity to learn the Biblical pattern of accepting Jesus in the same way he judges the person who was shown the Biblical pattern? And how will God judge the person who rejects the Biblical pattern for the sake of those who were never shown the Biblical pattern? Matthew 10:37. Let's trust God to correctly judge the hearts of those godly persons who were not taught accurately and were unaware of the biblical pattern of accepting God's grace.
      Right on brother.

This is not posted for controversy but to give understanding. Water Baptism has always been debated by the masses of people. I say to you my brothers and sisters. That if you read the and forget about any and all doctrines or what men may say you will see the truth. I do not understand why a simple thing such as a water baptism has become so hard to understand. The Bible teaches that if you find an answer within its pages in one place you can always find it in another. Line must be upon line and precept must be upon precept! Today, you will read the truth provided in multiple places throughout the Bible. Out of the mouth of two or more witness every word is established!
Jesus told His disciples to: MATTHEW 28:19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
The question is how did the disciples do this? They were taught by the Master Himself our Lord Jesus Christ. I think they understood what Jesus meant with this command. Do you know how I know the disciples understood him? By watching and reading what they did throughout the Bible!
You cannot find one person in the scriptures that was Baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Not one! However you can find thousands of disciples being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I do mean thousands! You can also find this information in more than one place.
We are buried with Him by Baptism into death.
      ROMANS 6:4
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Allow me to give you scriptural proof of Baptizing in the Name of Jesus Christ from the King James Version of the Bible:
      ACTS 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
      ACTS 8:15
Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
      ACTS 8:16
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
      ACTS 10:46
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
      ACTS 10:47
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
      ACTS 10:48
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
      ACTS 19:5
When they heard [this], they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
      I PETER 3:21
The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Wow! I can go on with this for hours. So what is the problem? The problem is disobedience! It has always been the problem with the people of God. It’s sad! The scriptures are clear they are clear that Jesus is the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost! I would suggest that people should study the scriptures day and night until you believe them and not what man has told you. Could this disobedience also be the very reason why many have not received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. Just as the Word teaches us we should have? We can see what Jesus said and what he did. We also see what His Apostles and the brothers who walked with Him ate with Him and slept with Him understood and did.
These men knew that Jesus was God. So they baptized in His name.
      JOHN 20:27
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
      JOHN 20:28
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Let there be no controversy about whether you should be sprinkled or have water poured on you or be submerged in water. To be baptized you need to be submerged completely in water just like a dead person is buried in the grave. Opinions will come and go but the truth of God’s word will stand forever.
      JOHN 3:23
And John also was baptizing in AEnon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
      MATTHEW 3:16
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
      MATTHEW 3:17
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
      MARK 1:9
And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
      MARK 1:10
And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
      MARK 1:11
And there came a voice from heaven, [saying], Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
      ACTS 8:38
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
      ACTS 8:39
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
If you have been baptized as an infant without repentance, you have not been baptized according to the teaching of the scriptures. Religion has defiled the clear word of God and has become a false teaching.
The Scriptures are always true. The Apostles understood the importance of the water baptism and were taught by our Lord Jesus. Thousands of born again believers where baptized in Jesus’ name. This is what the scriptures prove over and over again. I would rather obey God's Word than any man’s tradition. Please read all of the scriptures carefully and realize that you cannot take care of spiritual problems with natural means.
May the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus Christ rule in your hearts.
      JOHN 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Praise the Lord! Come Lord Jesus come! Praying for all to seek and find the truth in Jesus name. Jesus is the truth. Praying for all in Jesus name, Bro. Jerry

@jessehernandez8616 This gets brought up every day. The good thief wasn't the normative means of being saved. Water baptism is. This wouldn't be proof for not needing water baptism. Traditionally Christians answered this before you were even born and came to the conclusion that God is not bound by his sacraments. That the thief was a baptism of blood. His martyrdom was an acceptable baptism dying with Christ, which is what happens when we are baptized if you notice. Baptism says we are dying with Christ through the sacrament. The good thief did this literally. Think about it.

We were therefore 👉buried with him through baptism 👈into death 👈in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
When you posed this question to me I had a Eureka connection I think came from the Holy Spirit not me. Sitting here on my couch responding to this text..I'm pretty sure the Holy Spirit just told me what to say. I could be wrong but hear me out.
I made this amazing connection that the good thief literally is dying with Christ on the cross. And if you notice the Bible talks about baptism as dying with Christ.
It was a eureka moment I am having with you. His death must be a baptism! Because just like baptism mentions dying with Christ, the good thief actually IS dying with Christ!!

Sorry Comfort called out on this Pentecostals as being legalistic. This is because we follow Holiness standards of dressed modesty and not expensive clothing and array. We follow 1st Corinthians where it tells women to have long hair and long hair to us is uncut hair because uncut hair is as long as it will grow. Men should have short hair doesn't say that has to have a buzz cut but should have short hair that looks different than a woman of holiness. We believe in modest dress we don't believe that one should be going to toms River Lake sees in Scanty attire. Are women don't wear makeup to be shame-faced and to stay different from the world trying to fake what their real looks are. They don't buy jewelry expensive jewelry in particular but only things like a wedding ring to show that they're married or a watch which is used to tell time. No piercings no tattoos as we believe those are signs of the slave and also of being of the world. So yes to somebody like Ray comfort that would seem like legalistic and something that the church is here affiliates with does do. Nicodemus is asking how to be born again and they are implying that Christ said unless you are born by your mother and the born of the Spirit, you can’t enter heaven?! So… wait but if you aren’t born by your mother then you don’t need salvation. We are born in sin, not halfway saved. Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

You say that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone (mayday! Grace and Faith are alone in the room together! Logic out the window!) in Christ alone.
While I agree, the Scriptures certainly make it plain that there is no other NAME given under heaven by which we must be saved; salvation is through Christ alone and there is no other, I fail to find evidence for salvation through faith alone, quite the contrary actually.
Salvation is impossible without God's grace, but God's grace required Christ; no one else qualifies but Christ, that is why the wedding clothes are so important; we must clothe ourselves with Christ.
"All of you who have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."
The one name by which we must be saved. We cannot be saved by our own names, we trust in his finished work.
Faith though, we are told, when faith is alone, it is both dead and useless. Faith is nothing without love, and dead without works.
If dead and useless faith saves us, then Paul is lying when he says that faith alone is nothing, and James is lying when he says that faith alone is dead, if faith alone grants life it is not nothing and it is not dead, and these two men are liars.
However, it is more likely that the Devil is a liar, and hates it when humans put on the wedding clothes.
1 Corinthians 13. Paul makes it clear that faith, even all faith, is nothing without love. Faith alone lacks love. All faith does not include love, and salvation is nothing without love.
James 2. James makes it clear that faith without works is dead. Dead faith cannot bring forth life; it is dead.

@@rookiecookie722 I appreciate you taking time to respond to me, I can tell your sincere in your belief about these things. I agree that faith is dead without works, but I think our understanding of these things are different. Allow me to explain, I believe that works are the evidence of a true saving faith in Jesus Christ, but our good works do not save us. James gave an example of how the demons "believe" but they do not have a true faith in Christ, their "faith" is a dead faith so to speak, they know the facts but they do not trust in Jesus Christ. In other words, there is a true saving faith and false counterfeit faith. James was contrasting the two. I think he makes that clear that good works are evidence of saving faith in this verse 'But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. '
James 2:18 The kind of justification James is talking about in the passage is justification in the eyes of man, not justification in the eyes of God. We can see that in how he said 'I will show you my faith by my works' like I just referenced. An example James gave of someone showing evidence for their faith by their works was when Abraham offered up Isaac, we could see the faith/trust he had in God in his act of obedience, but the work of obedience itself was not what saved him, its what showed the world he truly was a friend of God and we can see that even today. Like how you said faith is nothing without love, true saving faith will show evidence by the fruit of the Spirit, which is mainly love. Like Jesus said 'Therefore by their fruits you will know them.'
      Matthew 7:20
Later in that passage though He warned that on the Judgement day, many will not enter heaven even though they did many religious things; Jesus said that "'On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ '
Matthew 7:22 Notice what the false prophets in this passage were using to try to justify themselves from their sin before God on judgement day; they were trying to use their religious works to justify themselves before God but heartbreakingly Jesus will tell those who rely on works of the law as the means to be made right with God that he never knew them.
So how can one be justified in God's eyes? What does the scriptures say?
May God give you a clearer understanding in these things and bless you and give you his peace. All the tax collector did was cry out to God for mercy and Jesus says that he went home justified whereas the religious person did not. This is a parable that is convicting for all of us. I thank you for your reading and consideration.
"What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:
“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
      and whose sins are covered;
blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”
Is this blessing then only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? For we say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness. How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised. He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well, and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith. For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void. For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression.
That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring-not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham who is the father of us all," Romans 4:1-16 ESV
"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person-though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die- but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." Romans 5:1-11 ESV
"He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”" Luke 18:9-17 ESV

You haven't even bothered to look at the scripture, for if you had, it doesn't say "alone" that is adding to the scriptures what it doesn't say and I can find verses that say confession, and repentance saves us water baptism doth also now saves us, and the Spirit. You say you are Oneness, but I find that hard to believe, for Oneness believe in faith by grace and confession of sins and repentance from ains and water baptism for remission of sins and being buried with Christ and Spirit baptized all spoken in scripture.

@@julienielsen3746 yes, Christ does indeed say he and the Father are one. But then what does he mean by that? What is Christs definition of oneness with his Father? Well, fortunately, we don't have to guess... he tells us. In john 17, Christ prays to his Father (or himself according to you folks) and asks his Father if he would make his disciples one with them, and he clearly says he wants them to be one with them AS THEY are ONE together. (Or in your worldview he prays to himself so that he himself fulfills his own request to himself) So, he gives us a very clear concise definition of his oneness with the Father, and what he means by it. One in accordance, purpose, etc. Unless, of course, you want to argue that Christ is asking his Father to bring the disciples up into some strange amalgamated being made up of multiple egos and spirits. But that probably wouldn't be a stretch for you folks since you already make that claim about Christ and the Father.

The problem with the Trinity is that it focuses too much on the THREE and not the ONE, like they're too distinct from one another, when in actuality, Jesus is the fullness of the godhead, Father, Son, and Spirit. And that's what we should be focusing on.

Also, we simply can't ignore how people used words and language in those days. In that time, and still today in many cultures, the father and the son are one. Meaning, when the son went out from the house of his father, he was a literal image and representation of his father. He spoke for him, he conducted business for him, his opinions were his father's opinions, he represented him in legal affairs, he and his father were one. And that's what Christ means, he was a man of his day, he spoke to and represented his culture and his time. So we can't just ignore these things, context is discernment. Discernment is divine. We must be more aware of our ideas and their implications.

CONNECTING THE BLOOD OF CHRIST AND WATER BAPTISM
The Scriptures teach that there’s a direct connection between the blood of Christ and baptism. Now, I realize that many deny such a connection, but it remains true, nevertheless. This article will demonstrate that connection.
The phrase, “for the remission of sins,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism. When our Lord Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper (Mt.26:26-29), He said these words with respect to the cup: “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (v.27-28). This clearly shows the reason that Christ shed His blood, i.e. the remission of sins. Indeed, the Hebrew writer affirms, “without shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins” (Hb.9:22). However, in Acts 2, when the people asked Peter what they must do to be saved, He said, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (v.38). Note that we are baptized for the very same reason that Jesus shed His blood. This connects the blood of Christ to baptism!
The phrase, “death of His Son,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism. Paul said to the saints at Rome, “For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” (Rm.5:10). The death of Jesus via the shedding of His blood results in being reconciled. But just a few verses later, Paul continued, “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?” (Rm.6:3). Just as surely as we are reconciled to God by the death of His Son, we must be baptized into that same death. This connects the blood of Christ to baptism!
The phrase, “washed from our sins,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism. In the book of Revelation, John described Jesus as “Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood” (1:5). It is the bright red blood of Jesus Christ that washes away our sins! But don’t forget that Ananias told Paul, “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Ac.22:16). Just as surely as Jesus washes away our sins by His blood, He only does so when we are baptized. This connects the blood of Christ to baptism!
The phrase, “hearts sprinkled… bodies washed,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism. The Hebrew writer said, “Let us draw near (to God, L.S.) with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Hb.10:22). The sprinkling is a reference to the blood of Christ (1Pt.1:2). And the washing of water is a reference to water baptism (Ep.5:25-26; cf. Ac.22:16). These two seemingly different things are brought together in this one verse. This connects the blood of Christ to baptism!
The phrase, “shall be saved,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism. In Romans 5:8-9, the apostle Paul said, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” But when Jesus gave the “Great Commission,” He said these words: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mk.16:15-16). So, while there is no doubt that Jesus saves us by His blood, He only does so when we are baptized. This connects the blood of Christ to baptism!
The connection is clear: Christ shed His blood on the cross to make salvation possible; and in baptism, we obtain the benefits of that shed blood. The only question that remains is, “Have you been baptized into Christ Jesus?” (Rm.6:3). If you haven’t but would like to be, let us know. We will be glad to help!

Ray, I understand that it's important for us to know that we don't save ourselves, but you have to be overlooking the fact that Jesus himself said you must be born of the water and of the spirit. Peter said repent, be baptized, and receive the holy ghost. Everyone the disciples led to salvation, they baptized. The Bible is CLEAR that it is essential to the Christian walk.
Yes, we are saved by grace through faith. But faith without works is dead. We need to have good works so that we can be a witness. We don't save ourselves, but to show that we believe the real Jesus, we follow HIS instructions because we believe that he meant what he said regarding salvation.
Jesus saves us through repentance AND baptism, and then gives us his spirit for being obedient to his word. It's not always in that order, but baptism is a step we take towards our transformation. Baptism is the physical application of His grace. He still is the only one who saves us, which is why it's important that it's done in the name of Jesus, because it's his blood that was shed.
Baptism is essential for Christian life because it's for the REMISSION of sins. It washes away not only the sins you have committed, but the ones committed against you. And it covers you with the blood of Jesus. Like you're paying for your rent and someone looks at your bill, only it's signed under a new name, so they can't bill you any more. That's what the baptism does for us.
So sorry Ray, you have ALL of scripture to contend with, not just your cherry-picked verses. What you do for lost people in one day is more than most do in their lifetime. But if you truly believe it's not essential, then this is something you are wrong about and you need to reread these passages with an open mind.

We are all supposed to be the church, which means we need to humbly proclaim the truth. I have seen so many comments from the oneness Pentecostal’s about how they have the truth and everything they are saying is correct.
Sure! We can have the revelation of the mighty God in Christ. We can have the revelation that the fullness of the Godhead dwelt inside of Jesus. But if we want people to believe we have the truth, we cannot deliver the message with a know-it-all attitude, in all caps, without scripture to back up what we say, and depleting our testimony by how we deliver the truth we know.
It is by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony that will help people!
    Please, pray.
    Please seek advice from leadership.
And now, I’m not better. I’m in the same boat, but I have learned that my testimony is shattered when I try to dismiss a false doctrine that somebody wholeheartedly believes. This is with my personal experience. No one is going to believe we are telling the truth if we do not reveal to them how we were delivered!

Typical of Ray Comfort hinging an entire doctrine on a hypothetical scenario that is never going to happen. God does not give us 2 minutes to choose, he gives us a span of years, typically 70 or 80 years which he spends working with sinners to bring us to salvation. Why did he bother to institute baptism by saying "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," Matt 28. This takes a lot of time is quite a bit of effort. Why didn't he just say Ray's under two minute spiel if that was all that was needed to be saved. Also there was nothing in his spiel about repentance whereas the thief on the cross at least confessed that he was deserving of his death penalty.
So basically you are going one step further than Ray and calling baptism aberrant fluff which needs to be weeded out of our belief system. This is an idle word spoken against the great commission which Christ himself gave to the apostles and to the church and which has been the focus of missionary efforts which have converted the world for the 2000 years since he established his church. Outrageous.

Baptism is not only our deed. It is God’s work too. Yes you can get the Holy Spirit before water baptism but it is not only a commandment. In baptism we are clothed in Christ. We are buried with Him and get to rise with Him in to the new life and to the new creation. If you believe in Christ and God has worked repentance in your heart, you need to be baptized that God may deliver you from your old life and His blood may cleanse you. You are not going to be baptized to water but to Jesus Christ and to His death and resurrection. It is His blood which cleanses us in baptism, not the water. @@jsfoyer5769 Baptism alone is not the Gospel and Salvation but it is vital part of the Gospel. Not just a commandment but a door to the new life by the power of the blood of the Lamb of God. Even though baptism WITHOUT FAITH does not save or to put it in another way, actually do nothing, we do not need to undermine the power of the water baptism when it is received by faith of Christ. While it is the power of Christ’s blood which atones and saves, it is the plan of God to work salvation through the ”sacrament” of baptism. I did not invent baptism but God did and He is telling us to be baptised to set us free from sin.
Would have Israel survived if they would not walk through the Red Sea? If they would have begin to discuss if it’s really necessery for their salvation to actually be baptised by the Red Sea or just trust in God without taking steps to cross the sea where God made the path to them? I think it is dangerous to water down the Gospel and preach that baptism does not have power of the Christ’s blood to wash us clean. It is a different Gospel than the one we have in the Scriptures.
We have seen people who have really repented from their sin, been set free from sin and demons in baptism and seen many get the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues when they have been risen from the water. May Jesus have all the Glory! He truly lives!

Expect the exception, i.e., theif on the cross. You can not predict when someone will die. Therefore, whilst they're alive, you can only do what you can and preach the gospel to them. If they're truly repentant and working out their salvation with fear and trembling, then the rest belongs with God on how he will judge.

For his argument on the thief on the cross to be valid, he has to ASSUME that the criteria for what it took to get saved then was the same then as it is now (after the Great Commission and the Day of Pentecost). Similarly, for Cornelius in Acts 10, if I understand Ray Comfort correctly, he simply ASSUMES that one receiving the Holy Ghost marks the point where someone’s sins are remitted without proving it (in contrast to the Oneness Pentecostal perspective which states it’s a step process). If the reception of the Spirit marks the point of the remission of sins, then the conversion of the Samaritans in Acts 8:12-17 shows they were baptized believers who had NOT received the remission of sins - which actually contradicts the evangelical position. The Oneness Pentecostal position of salvation being a step process is the only way to make sense of these passages in Acts 8 and Acts 10. In terms of salvation being by grace, through faith, and not of works, there’s no contradiction between this and the notion that baptism saves. Paul clearly taught this message in Romans and Galatians, yet these two books teach that baptism saves (Romans 6:3-4; Galatians 3:27).

@traciet67 You said: "The Holy Spirit is received immediately upon belief".
      Interesting theory.
Scripture, specifically Acts 8 disagrees. with your claim. (Specifically verses 12-17).
      Acts 8:4-25
      Christ Is Preached in Samaria
4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. 5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city.
      The Sorcerer’s Profession of Faith
9 But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, 10 to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.” 11 And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. 13 Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.
      The Sorcerer’s Sin
14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, 19 saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! 21 You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity"

Oneness Pentecostals believe in the heresy of Modalism. It claims there is one God and He is one in person but God will change into three different modes. The Father changed into the Son and the Son changed into the Spirit. There are many problems with this. Firstly all three persons are present at Jesus’ baptism. We see Jesus praying to the Father and the Father speaking about Jesus on two occasions. We also see Jesus saying he and the Father will send the Spirit. So there are three distinct persons.
Another thing to consider is that the Father and Jesus have different wills. When Jesus prayed in the garden before his arrest, he prayed to the Father, “Not my will, but yours be done.” We see the Father and Jesus have different wills. A person is a being with a mind and a will. Because the Father and Jesus have different wills, this means they are different persons. Therefore, God is one divine essence and three persons who are co-equal and co-eternal.

not the putting away of the filth of the flesh-
-proclaims the fact that Water Baptism cannot cleanse the soul.
but the answer of a good conscience toward God. Refers to the fact that one engages in Water Baptism because one has already been made clean by Faith in the Lord Jesus, which in turn gives one a good conscience toward God) by the Resurrection of Jesus Christ (which refers to the Cross, and the Believing sinner being raised with Christ in “newness of life” [Rom. 6:4-5]):
