Great video mate. These lawn treatment companies are a nightmare. Up here in the northeast all they seem to do is constantly pump tons of feed into the lawns. Lovely and green so the clients are happy. But alot of lawns are desperate for a good scarify, there's no advice from these companies. Just happy to keep feeding and taking money. It can be hard work trying to explain to clients. Won't be the first time when the lawns have been over fed and burnt as well.
You've literally explained it all in that comment. Happy to throw down some granular but absolutely notging else to go with it. Some clients give me funny looks when I say I'm not working alongside them. If only they knew.
Hey Mike, Nice video, I strangely found it very relaxing. I agree with you on the quoting, I find myself on quotes more and more using the quote to interview the potential client, to see if they're good fit for my business. And in some cases I've instantly realised they're not, or it just isn't going to work, so have made my polite excuse and left, no need to waste each others time any longer.
Thanks a lot Dave! Yes, so it's strange. It's kinda the same with me. Obviously the first initial call I take from them I just try and get an idea of what they like, need or want and then on my second cal back to them it's more of an Interview towards them for my own use! A good position to be in really when yoir able to turn down work that won't work for you and not too just be the Yes man that says okay to eveyrhing.
13:36 100% agree with you here, we don’t touch any jobs where “they look after there own lawn” always leads to them being a pain and eventually wanting you to do it when it gets to much and at that point they want it done for next to nothing
I've been doing hourly rate for many years but I'm beginning to see that it doesn't really serve me anymore... I'm thinking of sticking to a day or half rate going forward, not too sure how it'd work with existing long standing clients though.
Hey Joshua. Yes we've transitioned away from hourly rate now. Not as profitable sticking to hourly rates we found. I think your right. The hardest part about it is converting your hourly rate clients over to a Price per job basis. Very difficult.
@@mikedaygm I think another downside to hourly rate is some of the clients like clock watch.. I've had a couple incidents in the past where I've had to prove what hours I worked... Never fun. Certainly looks like a great job you've got there 👍🏻
Great video Mike 👍🏼
Thanks so much Mart! 😊😁❤️
