  • Revisor from Kidd Pivot - a stunning hybrid of theatre and dance from one of Canada’s top dance companies - performs in St. John’s on February 14, 2020 thanks to the partnership of three local arts organizations: the St. John's Arts & Culture Centre, Neighbourhood Dance Works, and Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland.
Co-creators, Crystal Pite (Chorographer/Director) and Jonathon Young (Writer) revise an archetypal comic plot to serve as the basis for choreography in a true hybrid of contemporary theatre and dance. Inspired by and adapted from Nikolai Gogol’s classic 1836 satire The Inspector General (Revizor in Russian), Revisor is part risky satire, part choreographed lip-synch.
When a lowly government employee arrives in town to revise some legal documents, he is mistaken for a high-powered official and spoiled with attention. As it daringly changes tones and styles throughout, Revisor keeps audiences-and its eight dancers-on their toes as they explore conflict, comedy, and corruption in the potent relationship between language and the body.
From the creators of the internationally acclaimed Betroffenheit (Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production), Revisor’s stop in St. John’s is their only Atlantic Canada date.
