thank you, thank you, thank you! when i hiked the AT so many years ago, i just couldn't "embrace the stank". even as an 'ultralight' i kept clean. i volunteer with many unhoused communities and trying to explain that putting stinky clothes on after washing yourself: 'still smells bad', is an uphill battle. many people can't "smell themselves". in a camping situation, many people also seem to use "stank" as some kind of "badge" or "proof" that they are REAL. Ancient peoples cleaned themselves, Neanderthal's cleaned themselves, MONKEYS groom themselves! come on people, ditch the stank......

These are all good points. One I would add is "no unattended fires" or "put your fires out properly". Once I was camping next to someone, and they built a huge fire in their fire ring, and then just left for dinner for a couple of hours. Then he followed it up by running his generator all night like mentioned in this video. The next morning I wasn't particularly friendly to that person.
That's a great point. One night a neighboring camper just drove off at 2am and left a raging bonfire going. So at 2am I have to crawl out of bed and go into the cold to put it out. I didn't have enough water to put the fire completely out. So after pouring 12 of my 16 ounce bottles of water on it I ran back to my vehicle and got my shovel and then started transporting dirt from an area soft enough to dig and just dumping dirt on it until it was extinguished.

It's really disgusting. I hope everybody who is a nomad or just camping. Watches this video because it's really needed. But my generation learned all these basics camping with the YMCA, or backpacking classes taught after school; you know “Take only pictures, leave only footprints”. Ive always taught my dogs to only bark when needed. ! It was easy. My pomeranian thot he was a chihuhua, i taught him quickly he is not lol i used a broom popped him said no !! I didnt hurt him he just didnt like the broom but it worked👍

Not sure if there is some type of "universal sign", flag, ribbon, etc that means "Not now, I'm busy" or one that means "you're welcome to approach" but that would be great for those times one may be napping in the middle of the day, using the bathroom, feeling ill, working, etc.
Just hard to believe that you need to show people how to behave towards others, but you did it as a great reminder. We've all had to endure those people who are just out to enjoy themselves regardless of others. You could have even made them sound a lot worse!

I tell people to treat people the way they, "the person I am talking to", want to be treated. There are some people that will always be problematic and it is perfectly fine to put some distance between yourself and the problematic person or persons. It's called self preservation.

I just got a neighbor here out in the desert in Quartzsite. Pulled up in his big fifth wheel brand new pick up no solar whatsoever runs his generator all the time. I walked up to his trailer at night with a flashlight and asked him to shut the damn thing off, he refused, of course A-hole. He said as I was walking away don’t go away mad why you gotta be like that why you gotta be like that I gave him my middle finger.
