25 years ago I had an uncle tell me you never buy a truck unless you know exactly what it’s going to do. That sounds crazy at first but experience has taught me it’s one of the single most important things you can do in this industry. If you’re going to get your own authority, have contracts already in place. How do you do that? As you gain experience you’ll meet people. Show them a good work ethic and eventually that opportunity will come. Could take 2 months or 20 years but it’ll come. The key is to be ready when it does. Other than that. The best way to come into this industry is get a truck and lease on to a carrier. Large carriers have contracts and freight bases that will never hit the spot market.
Great video brother! I agree with most of what you said except for the part about owning your own truck. You have to crawl before you can walk. If you’re not smart with your money while leasing you will always be crawling. One of the big issues I have with leasing is the maintenance escrow account is not in your control. It hinders cash flow. I can go into a few more details, but I simply don’t feel like typing that much. Either way, PS does have an excellent lease program.
@@delgadotrucking yea it is pretty high. But you get it all back when you pay the truck off. I just had my def filters replaced a few months ago. Almost 12,000 dollars. And I still have over 20K in escrow right right now. So just imagine you pay your truck off and sell it back to P&S and start a new lease. You could end up with around 50 thousand cash in a lump sum at the end of your lease
Im a new CDL holder just applied to them I know not every truck place is roses and rainbows but I figured Flatbed would be a good place to start since its specialized
As one being in the steel hauling industry, from what I know about P&S, They are a cut rate company, you really don’t know what making money is all about as long as you keep working for them, if you haven’t done it yet we need to look around, stay away from the bigger companies look for companies that might have under 30 or 40 trucks, I guarantee you they got a lot better rates than companies like P&S, but if you’re happy making a minimum keep doing what you’re doing. and before you say, I don’t know what I’m talking about, last year I made $408,000 with one truck was home every single weekend and typically only worked 3 to 4 days a week, I also went to the Dominican for three months, I will say this year has been more difficult than years prior, but we have an administration that wants to kill the economy and they’re doing a good job at it, till there’s a change or until they lift the regulations they’re putting on businesses, This is what we got.
You're home every night and paid your truck off you are winning. If they take on Owner Operators why not just save yourself those weekly payments and keep the truck and run under their authority and freight.
Own your own truck, how are you going to get freight? There are independent contractor dispatchers that you can hire. You can contract to places like Amazon, Swift, Warner, JB Hunt, etc. And still keep your authority. What if you just kept your truck and hired an independent dispatcher and hired you're very own company driver under your company name.
How well do you think the freight would pay vs where I work now and running their freight? I’m running 4 and 5 dollar per mile freight almost everyday. And the best part, it is all short freight. Nothing over 300 miles
@@bigsnow1705 To be honest with you. I don't know. My fiance's, mothers husband hired an independent contractor dispatch who he pays 8% to his dispatch after proof of delivery. He is subcontracted through Amazon. Through his dispatcher, who also acts as his broker. He is a owner operator out of California and all of his loads our local as well. He does not leave the state and he is also home every day.. he told me he makes anywhere between $3500-$4500 a week.
That’s real good right there. Who knows what the future may hold. Since I released this video. It may be about two months old. My truck is now paid off completely as of two weeks ago
Between 12 to 1500 a week. You have to learn the system though. It’s going to be slow at first. Have to figure your running lanes out and get your rhythm
I’m on the dryvan route but i go over 7 months experience flatbed recently spoke with a recruiter for p&s but I’m on this bullshit dollar account so I’m thinking about switching? @@bigsnow1705 I would be a company driver do they make good pay because I just want to no they how is the dispatch as well I just don’t want to make it sound good then it be another one of those chances

Sound like I heard $2000 a month lease and it’s been 4 years. So you paid right at 100k for the used truck?
Trucks paid off now. So there you have it #trucking #flatbedtrucking #flatbedgang
💪🏾💪🏾🔥
Why did it take 4 years to pay of a used truck?
Most lease deals are no shorter than 3 years
A what’s good bro, would they train an experienced driver? Also front facing cameras?
Almost every company has front facing now. And yes, you can receive training.
Are you able to choose your own loads on a load board ?
Not on a load board but you have loads that you can choose from
I have 10 months Flatbed Experience. What does orientation look like for me? Will I have to go out with a trainer ?
They might let you slide with 10 months. Just fill out the application and talk to a recruiter
@Big Snow how much a recent grad make a week after training?
