  • @rayfunk5659
    @rayfunk5659 11 месяцев назад +3

    Of the many versions of this song available out there, this is the best. No disrespect to Lindsay Buckingham, who is an impressive guitarist, but his style on the album is a distraction to the pure energy this song possesses. And it took former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Welch to bring it out. Christine McVie, who is heard but not seen adds that impeccable harmony to the vocals. Unleashing Mick Fleetwood from behind the drum kit to contribute cowbell, bongo and the occasional stolen cymbal crash from the drummer's kit is brilliant! Of course, there is Stevie. This is her song and possibly her signature song. No one else could deliver like this. Even the mix is just right, especially considering it was hardly a formal recording environment. Well done and glad this has been saved for posterity.

      Ant as a guitarist, Bob Welch isn't in the same league as Lindsey Buckingham. His playing Gold Dust well until he plays a solo,, and shreds out notes too fast, and ruins the mood.. He finally slowed down for a few seconds.
      Guitar solos aren't about how fast you can play. The best guitar solos create an emotional journey for your listeners.

      I agree. Stevie was one of the most beautiful women in the world - I honestly think she's more beautiful now than she was back then - and no one could touch her voice (actually, that's not true. I lover to death, but Ann Wilson could and still can outsing anyone and everyone). That being said, I disagree about "heyday." Stevie is still arguably one of the most beautiful women in the world and her voice is still amazing. I was lucky enough to see her in Seattle the last time she was there for the 24 Karat Gold tour. I was sick as a dog with an upper respiratory infection but I'd have been damned if I'd miss that concert after waiting 40 years to see her. The Pretenders opened. Let me tell you a little secret: I'm into natural healing and the like... there's no better remedy for illness than love. The love being given and reciprocated from the audience to Stevie and back again was at such an astounding level, I actually felt good for the first time in about a week. We won't discuss the next day - lol! Stevie spoke to us like we were her friends, not her fans. The conversations were as laid back as those between neighbors over coffee. She's one of the most down to earth women I've ever encountered, onstage or off. But I think the highlight of the show for me was during the encore. Most artists thank their fans for coming to see them. Stevie not only thanked us for that night. She thanked us for continuing to let her do what she loves to do, that we had no idea how much it means to her. My love, you have no idea how much you mean to us...
