    Joe is new with these Surge rubber insert hand rims. As you noticed he said, "They are pricey!" Yes they are! I had them put on my TiLite ZR in 2014 and after 4 years the rubber insert will come off the hand rim. Out-Front the manufacturer of these rims do not sell replacement inserts they want you to buy new rims at $300 plus $100 service fee to have them installed. I will be ordering my new 'chair at the end of March 2019 and I will not support Out-front products. Also, both composite will locks broke within 14 months. The first one was replaced under warranty but the second was not. I took my wheel locks off from my old 'chair which are the aluminum type and replaced the composite ones. It if you read carefully at Out-Front's web site it does say inserts are not replaceable.

    I’ve had various chairs since my 98’ injury… but I finally got the Surge push rims on my most recent chair. just like the rubber on your tires.. the rubber on the push rim wears down… at first I had zero complaints but as time went by my hands .. mainly right where I grip… it is filthy black… I have to seriously scrub it off… so that’s my complaint… but they do help you push… and they are expensive… that really sucks

    I have a new Ti lite ZRA wheelchair, and have the natural fit handrims/pushrims also. Now I had them on my older chair, but the new one they are smaller. But I am used to that . Just like Shannonbarnesdr1 I also push grabbing my tires.

      Can you put the rubber pushrim covers on natural fit handrims?

    $300 plus Tip :S Yeah, I much prefer the system we have in Australia where you just pay for a service cost so you know exactly how much it will cost you, for example, $300 including fitting, or + $20 fitting. Having a look for the chair review now :)

      +MaZEEZaM lol I knew it was gonna be 300 even, the tip was my choice. I didn't have to tip him but I did. I could have tipped less or more.

    Hi great video I just have one problem everytime I push my wheelchair my skin on my thumb keeps peeling off have you got any advice on what I should do. And I do wear gloves they are no help at all

      I believe the problem is your positioning of your thumb. It's probably scraping against the tire, so I would say get some tape to put on the area that is usually affected OR try to change the position of your thumb. Or you can get some thumb guards. These rims came with them but I didn't have them installed.

      Hey, Scott! I told the people who built my chair that those were the tires I wanted and they came with the chair. I did however have to buy more and I got them off the spinlife.com

      Tyler Elliott I know I’m very late on this and I’d you got the tilite tra that chair is 3 years old now. 🤣🤣 I didn’t like the look of the thumb guard and the added weight. It came with them but I didn’t have them installed.

    Dear JoeOnWheels ... What does "series 2" mean ... it doesn't say that on their page??

    • @JoeRolls
      @JoeRolls  8 лет назад

      It just means it's the second version of the Tilite Aero Z the first one has been discontinued and has been remodeled and named The Tilite Aero Z series 2. :)

      Dear JoeOnWheels... I have had five hip replacements and back surgery ... I was thinking about getting a folding wheelchair BECAUSE ... I have to back into the chair holding on the hand rests ... but then I thought there are people worst off than me ... so how do most people get into a chair when the solid frame chair has that foot rest that doesn't move ... isn't it difficult since it is so far forward and you cannot get close enough to the chair? How is it done?

      You actually can get a rigid frame like mine with the swing away footplates but it also depends on your car situation if you need it to fold very small with minimal work. However, my chair, the footplate is tucked at an 80 degree angle so it doesn't get in my way when I go to sit down. You can also transfer at an angle, pull the chair up to an angle and kinda scoot on and then you just pull your legs over. :)

    The wheels weigh 6.25 pounds each. That’s heavy

    • @JoeRolls

      Caroline Freeman do they really?! The wheels do not at all feel like 6.25 pounds. They feel at the
      Most 3 pounds.
