Easy Wing DIY For Fairy, Dragon & Butterfly Projects- Oven-safe/Waterproof
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 май 2016
- A quick and easy DIY tutorial on how to make durable wings for a fairy, dragon, angel, butterfly, sculpture, doll or jewelry project. They are also semi-transparent, waterproof and oven-safe if using for a polymer clay sculpture. This ink transfer method to liquid polymer clay will open so many doors from realistic to anime; it's a must know for all craters.
Update- Overtime the wings ended up curling slightly around the edges where there was no wire, as seen in video • Making A Polymer Clay ... If you would recommend framing wire along the entire wing to help with this. I did not mind wrinkling/curling, but it is something to be aware of for your project. Adding a couple more layers of glue or gloss might also help. :/

+sallie6 Thank you so much!!! :) ♡
merci , très jolie travail
Merci, Shani line :)
AWESOME way to create butterfly things where no butterfly's are collected for it.
Please note - somethings made from butterflies that were alive are not all bad because there are humane lovers of butterflies who raise butterfly's for this purpose - like cows for leather if you think of it.
But there are butterflies that are becoming very rare and indangered. Even your local ones you may take for granted.. we build on the land the would have lived on, slept in, eaten, laid eggs, been caterperliers.. Many butterflies use different plants for these different things - growing flowers for them to drink from is not enough.
AND many of the plants butterflies like - we think of as weeds or just undesirable - so remove them from the habitat and don't replant them in our landscapes, yards and gardens..
AND think about this - all that bug spray and anti insect stuff you use on your lawn and garden? It kills them too.
Want to know more? It's easy!
Do a search on the word "butterflies" and the name of your state - try one with your hometown - since many states have different ecosystems (dry, wet, coastal, hotter, cooler, higher elevations, forested etc.)
In Florida for example it's a good idea to try your "region" or what your part of the state is called. "Butterflies, South Florida" finds something very different than "Butterflies, Florida Panhandle."
Yeah Butterfly lovers!
Yeah this video!
very nice video. thanks for the instruction. i dont have an oven so i makeshift one with alu foils, tealight candle & coke can. burnt first attempt but i layered it with more foils and bake comes out nicely. thanks!!

You too my dear and thanks for following me and for the likes!!! Of course you will see them!!! I've ordered to photographer to print them and when i take them back you will see!!!!❤
Thank you!!! Going to make some today! :-D
Your welcome! It's super easy, hardest part is just getting all the paper off of the clay. Let me know if you need help. I'll be around all day!
Thank you so much! I have some wings printed but now have things to do! (grrrr) will get to it as soon as I can. I'm excited! :-D
Is there alternative products instead sculpey bakeable transfer & color medium as I cant find it anyway here in canada
Music name, please?
What a wonderful idea ...and thank you for the clip art heads up on another comment 😀 ....I too am interested in the piece of music? ...beautiful work - very effective !!
I'm wondering if this would work for human sized wings too
I found a monarch butterfly today, and most of its right wing is torn off, and i want to do a surgery on it and attach an extra butterfly wing, since this is water proof, i hope this will help the butterfly.
Excelente!!
gracias mi amiga! :)
A ti que nos compartes tu arte.

I'm not sure how I missed this video but I clicked the bell so I won't miss any more!!! Love this tutorial!! Wow!! Gorgeous realistic wings!!! Thanks for sharing! Do you have a link to where you got those butterfly wings?
Leslie Jones Creative Pzazz Aawww thank you for your kind words, Leslie. Sorry for the super late reply. I got a "warning" for posting a link to an outside address to photo I used in another video so can not link, but I have the best of luck finding wings online by typing "clip art wings" or clip art "butterfly wings". Hope that helps. Thanks again for the sweet comments. Happy crafting!! ♥️
I love your videos! I was wondering if you might have done any projects with Pringles cans or something similar? I have a bunch of them and am trying to dream a project up.
Yes, I do! They can easily be decorated with mod poge and used as small containers to store pasta, screws, paper clips etc.. Pinterest has great ideas. You inspired an idea. I will try to make a video.. thanks for the comment. :)
How strong are these? I want to make an Effie Monarch Butterfly Dress and I need to know if these would stand up to the test of wear
Hi there, is there a way to transfer onto fabric?
The brightness of them looks muted. Is that they way they were designed to be? Instead of bright and colourful?
Does this work with regular paper or only photo paper?
Can you bake matte photo paper in oven? Isn't it melting?
Superb. I usually don't do well with tutorials with no speaking but this was really clear. Shot really well. Does it need to be a laser print or is standard ink jet ok? I know it matters with some photo transfer things.
Thanks so much Lee. I've found that either works. The magic (for me) is all the the paper and newer liquid clay. I tried some a while back and couldn't get the reds to pick up, figured out it was due to liquid clay being too old.
Do the wings have to be printed on a laser printer in order to transfer and stay permanent, or will an inkjet work?
I loved your work so clean & perfect ❤❤
Can I used it for hairpin?
And I for sure I'll try it when it is possible
I've one request, would you please make a vedio how you make your nails😍?
wouahhhh very good ! thank you for partage ; )
Thanks! Sure thing!! :)
+Crafty Craftin no find ! + One abonnée ! Kisses
I really like your videos!!
+Crafty Craftin thank you ;)
Hey i tried it but the pic didn't transfer on my liquid polymer clay! are you sure you used matt Photopaper???
Do you print on inkjet or laser printer? Great tutorial btw
Thanks so much!! :) I have only tried with jet ink printer, but I've read that either will work. If you try it with laser please let me know how it comes out, I'm curious.
My only issue is that whenever I use liquid fimo for these rhings it bubbles up in a weird way.
Probably wrong temperature 😢
Nice ♡ Can i use glue, instead of Clay?
Can you use mod podge as the glaze?
Hi Kelly, You can! I did experiments w the Sculpey glaze vs Mod Podge, and Sculpy surprisingly made the wings a bit more ridged. Maybe do a 3rd layer if you go Modge Podge.
Ok got that thank you. One more question tho, would regular printing paper work? I have ones that are multiuse eco-responsible paper for prints and copies. Getting my hands on the matte papers you used in the video would be a bit hard for me. Is there any other alternatives?
That's a good question Kelly, I have not tried with any paper other than matte and gloss photo paper. I'm guessing the photo paper works well because it holds the ink like a sponge. Less chance for ink to smear and easier for the clay to pick up the ink. It is also thicker so there is less of a chance of tears happening. Not sure about the eco-paper, but it would certainly be an easy experiment. Doesn't hurt to try it out. If you do, please let me know your findings!

Sweet! Great job - Could you just use Modge Podge instead of the Sculpey?
Has anyone tried a longer bake time? The longer the bake, the more translucent and flexible the clay will become so I'm surprised the instructions say only bake 5-10 mins.
I just did 15 by accident and burned my prototype wings... Be careful going longer.
song is bad!
Jimmy Jim I liked it, kind of reminded me of old Siouxsie and the Banshees.

That’s a lot of trouble...Think I’ll just buy the Tim Holts butterfly wings.
