@@snogglemonkey Tbh most of the time it breaks not from playing, but tuning. It somehow broke while down tuning a whole step, so now I use a B string I had laying around and I'm 90x more terrified of tuning because of that experience
Obviously the song is in 7/4 then switches to 4/4 for the guitar solos, but it's bad enough when one of my special collectors edition magazines on Pink Floyd says its in 5/4...ummm...no? Thanks for the video! Now to force myself to sit down and learn this
Thanks Carl, Could you please do "Shine On You Crazy Diamond " Ist Solo (1.28 ) , 2nd Solo (1.23 ) and 3rd Solo ( 1.12 ) from the Wish You You Here Album ? Thank you for your consideration . tweed
That's a nice tutorial Carl. However I have just s couple of issues with it. I think there are a couple less bends that you're doing. Also most of the lead break can be played using the starting pentatonic scale in B minor without much of the moving up and down the fret that you're doing. I just played the break within that scale and it sounded more akin to how Gilmore played it. Im using a Jackson 24 fret with Seymour Duncans using the front pickup in single and back pickup in dual. Anxious to see how you pull off the last part in the high register. At any rate, very nice rendition!
hey Carl great lesson... can you plz plz plz do a solo lesson on one of these nights by egales ...I know there are lot of lessons but non compared to ur detailed lesson's. BTW I really think u should be in the million subscribers list really hope u get there soon.love your videos n learnt a lot thanks for everything. keep the awesome work up
Sometimes I have to slow the speed down but great videos, I'm struggling to get the right sound/tone with my Les Paul style guitar hahaha but still alot of fun learning and trying to play along 😊
Does anyone have any exercises for increasing 4th finger control? Because my 4th finger always reflexes to the bolt straight position whenever I place pressure on a fret with my other fingers (particularly my 3rd finger). For example, I play a riff like Paranoid (Black Sabbath) and whenever I tense up my hand to be able to play, my 4th finger goes spaz and jerks to bolt straight. The movements of the 4th finger are also very jerky. It's a REALLY annoying problem, and hinders my playing (I am fairly experienced at guitar, and have had this problem the whole time I have been playing). It also looks completely ridiculous. if anyone has any exercises for pinky control or keeping the right curvature in the hand, it would be much appreciated. Regards, Dougie
I made myself use the 4th finger more often, like i keep my fingers in a 4 fret position where every finger has his own fret, and then I practice scales like that, it really helps, it will be hard and a pain in the ass first, but you will see the results. Just try and use your 4th finger more often when you're playing something, jamming, practicing a solo, whatever, find ways too make your playing smoother and incorporate the 4th finger in your playing, when you get used too it you will regret not using the 4th finger more from the get go. I hope I helped you in any way :)
Voodoo Child I'll give that a go from now on as a warm up, I've been doing 1-2-3-4 runs up the strings but scales might add some extra dexterity and hopefully more fluidity at the same time Thanks :)
Hey man I had the same problem but I shot my way out of that habit by continuously trying to hammer ons and pull offs with my pinky , ring and index finger. Going down all strings do this for about a month and you should start to feel a huge difference

I haven’t been playing for a full year and learned this thanks to you. Thank you
Best guitar player with bends ever
joey anderson i always thought Stevie Ray was the best with bending techniques I’ve ever heard. And I’m a metal head.
There was a time when I had a high string, then I tried to learn this solo and it's gone :(
R.I.P High string
same lol
Keep those strings new and slinky and your E will survive 1.5 tone bends.

I could use some help achieving that high pitched tone. I use a multistomp pedal.
It would be awesome if you can teach us Echoes, such a great song.
Holy pentatonic
Great work. But I think DG used a Bill Lewis guitar on "Money".
Great video, thanks.

+f1 maniac dmw All this time I thought I was the only one with this problem. Thanks for asking a question I wish I had asked long ago.
