    Mark great video. I’m sure it’s tough coming up with content during the off season or just when things are slow, but your videos during this time period are useful and informative. Others just throw out videos just for the sake of putting something out. You are doing what others should be doing maintenance and upkeep on the things that will keep making you money when it’s time to put them to use. 👍

    Doesn’t seem too bad changing oil on those Dolmar/Makita units. Thanks for the video!

      Don't take anything to change the oil. In the summer I usually change the oil every week on the trimmers, it only takes about 5 minutes for the 2 of them.

    Check out Darwin’s grip mark
    You won’t have to bend over to trim anymore I have one and love it.
    I have the blue makita hand held blower the last two years and love it.
    I use the echo trimmers because I use the edgit pro but if I didn’t I would use makita for sure it’s a great brand

      I will be ordering a Darwin's grip in the spring to try it out. My back gets pretty tired from being bent over for sure.

    Thanks for sharing. You may have stated in a previous video, do you use four stroke for convenience? Same here on the snow. Not enough to plow but enough to put a kink in any other work.

      I like the Makita string trimmers because they are lighter, quiter, easier to start and have the same amount of power as anything I have tried out. They are also the best balanced trimmer I have tested. In quit a few of our videos you will see us trimming with one arm because the balance point is at the throttle. Plus the convenience of not having to mix the gas.

      Marks Misfit World Thank you for taking the time to reply 💪🏻 I can totally understand the convenience. I will have to try the Mikita I’m very curious 🙂

      It takes a while for them to break in but when they do the RPM's increase and you never touch the choke except for cold mornings. It's hard to explaing but when you are running the trimmer you know as soon as it breaks in everything just smoothes out.

    if you get a chance check out waste oil drip burners. If you have access to used oil and feel comfortable running one you can burn some waste oil to heat you r garage along with the pellet stove. The waste oil heaters really run pretty clean and with your fabrication skills it would not be very hard. My house has no chimney or is not easily set up to install smoke pipe in my basement or I'd have one. If your really bored check out wood gasification or rocket stoves. If you ever saw the show mountain men the one guy in NC ran an old Toyota truck with a wood gasifier. 4 strokes are a little heavier and more complex but they should run quieter and sip fuel. My merc 9.9 outboard 4 stroke was really a thing of beauty.

      I do prefer the 4 stroke over the 2 stroke in the trimmers and small blowers.

    Just wondering why you’re going to the Sthil blower?

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  6 лет назад +1

      Makita doesn't make a blower with the amount of CFM's, so I have been testing out the different brands and the Stihl BR800C was the most comfortable and had what I wanted with the side start and the waste belt. The BR200 is the lightest that I have looked at that would be good for Vicki and it is nice to have Scag and Stihl at the same place for parts.

    How long can you go before changing the oil

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  6 лет назад

      I change the oil every 2 weeks on the small equipment, they take the most abuse.

    Buy a gallon 10w30 Amsoil small engine oil. Much better and no need to change it every run.

    Not much of a fan of the 4-stroke stuff.
    Increased weight, maintenance, cost, and lack of power and reliability vs tried and true 2 stroke tech.
    Good way to keep busy though. Always feels good to know your equipment has been properly maintained.

    • @Marksmisfitworld

      I will be sticking with Makita trimmers, they are the lighter than Stihl and are not lacking in power or reliabilty. They also start faster and can go full throttle faster than the 2 stroke. I tried them all out this past fall at the dealership when they had their open house. I will be upgrading to Stihl for the back pack blowers just because of the CFM and the comfort and ease of start of the new BR800C
