Genuinely really happy with mine as someone who daily drove the first gen ones for almost two years. Size, fit, upgrades are all great! I get accidental presses when I wear a hood which is annoying but overall very happy with my purchase!
Great review! These Buds are so addictive. Literally everything you said has happened to me. And yes, it is so annoying when you cannot resume your music. And you tap them to resume the music multiple times. And nothing happens. Then you take your phone out, press play and the play button on the buds work again instantly. Like you said these buds took what was already perfect about the first version and made it much better. An update should resolve the RUclips and RUclips music resume play issues! Also me and my wife use these all day while we're both working. These buds work perfectly while riding my bike at 33-36 mph doing deliveries and she can hear no wind noise without me wearing a helmet and that could not be done on the original Pixel Bud Pros at all. These things are amazing!
@@BigBampot you will never ever catch me riding without a helmet. But in my short testing on my street in front of my home, there is no wind noise from these new buds!
As much as I love the first generation, I'm pleasantly surprised how much more I love the 2. They are the most comfortable earbuds I've worn in my life. And sound quality is so shockingly good considering how small they are.
Thank you for confirming my suspicions around that high pitched noise, I had a feeling that's what it was. Hi Shane, great video, as always. To solve the problem with the buds requesting to unlock the phone to use the assistant every time you remove it from the case, go to your phone Assitant setting > Lock screen > Use assistance when your screen is locked. Booom, you are good to go!!! :-)
@@shanecraigtech That's weird, mine works like a charm. I have a pixel 9. and yes, is the phone assistant setting, the buds setting does not have this option.
These are so much better than the previous Pro buds. The only things that bother me so far are that the app doesn't always save my settings when I change them and the touch controls don't always respond how they should, they feel dead with no tactile feedback. The old Pro touch controls were too sensitive, so it's difficult to say what's worse. All of this can be fixed with updates though.

Loving mine so far coming from the Buds Pro 1. The fit is alot better anc is better and i like the speaker being on the bottom of the case. Hearthrough is alot better as im noticing as well i can wear these alot longer than the original pros
I own the Pixel Buds 2, A, Pro and Pro 2 in wintergreen. I love them all. The Pixel Buds 2 just stopped working 😢. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are little bit too loose for me. The Pro have a better fit for me. I really like the design of the Pro 2. Nice, lightweight and comfortable. Good ANC and sound. Overall good earbuds. My favorite are my Bose QC earbuds 2. Nice video from you. Greetings from Germany 😊😊❤
As someone that always wears glasses, I prefer my Echo Frames over the buds. It works with Gemini just the same. Sure it doesn't do anc and music isn't as great, but everything else is good enough and it's only one thing to bother with instead of 3.
Hi, enjoying the podcast. About the pixel buds Pro 2... One missing feature is caller ID. So it announces who is calling though the earbuds. It's the one big feature in these bids that I miss.
In the Aesthetics department, they are beautifully designed by Google the buds 2 Pro are yet comfortable in the ear? And that wing tip. It's a perfect addition to keep the buds locked in your ear while you're working out or you're sweating and they don't fall off. The sound stage is nice. It's not extremely perfect. But it's great and the case is not bulky just the right size and they did stick with their eggshell case from the first generation buds Pro now these from the second generation are a big plus and I have enjoyed them since I purchased them today for now my Galaxy Z fold 6 will sit in the Shelf until I'm able to upgrade as I will go with that pixel 9 Pro fold, which has that wider cover to display
What I hate about the notification through Gemini is that it only allows it on 4 or 5 apps. I turned off the notifications for the other apps other than Google messages. And you're correct, it does read the message automatically. However, I don't like the fact that they took away the touch and hold to read notifications. That feature read all of your notifications back to back without needing to use any trigger words. Yesterday I found myself going to activate the feature a couple of times and I forgot it doesn't work on this device that way. It really upsets me. I used that feature all of the time with the other pixel buds pro. What's really ridiculous about it all, is that that feature still exists on the jabra elite 10 earbuds and the Sony wh1000xm5 headphones but Google couldn't leave that feature their own pixel buds. Google is so annoying. They claimed they did it due to consumer feedback they didn't ask my opinion.
Have you noticed when you move your head that ANC/Transparency mode gets distorted at all? I've had 3 pairs and all of them shift in both audio sound quality and clarity of ANC/Transparency. Best way to describe it is when moving, it sounds like someone is rapidly covering and uncovering the mics (not a screeching sound or anything, just the noise coming through ANC+transparency gets quieter). If I'm in a quiet room and move my head I can hear a faint scratching noise. Like I said this is on all 3 pairs I've owned and starting to think this is how Google intended on these buds working
I should note the eartips are a perfect fit, backed up by the fitment test. I've never had earbuds that have fit so well and have noticed a huge improvement in sound isolation when compared to my 12+ BT earbuds I've owned
The resume playing is a bug i think, if you close off Spotify through recents and then instead click play in the notification shade (and actually starts playing) then youll be able to go all day with pausing and resuming your music. Ive sent feedback for the past 6 months.
Great review considering your migraine state. I have the Pixel Buds Pro 1 and have really enjoyed them. I'm not sure if there are enough upgrades to justify upgrading. Mine fit in my ears just fine. Google isn't offering any trade-in.
They don't feel super comfortable to me (never had the first gen) but on my Sony's I had to buy aftermarket tips for it to be comfortable. Just ordered some so hopefully that helps for me. The transparency mode is super good though.
the music not resuming issue affects me on the pixel bud 1s too! SOOO annoying. Especially if you are out running and you have your phone tucked away very securely. You are trying to run a max effort and then for whatever reason the play knocks off... (in the bud 1s usually because the buds kept falling out)... you just will not stop your run to fish your phone out and unlock it. You just give up and take your buds out and stick them in your pocket.
Yeah I was thinking maybe this reviewer was having difficulty with it because he needed to set up his extend lock. Is there that he would be able to place his pixel buds pro 2 as a trusted device and it would no longer need to be unlocked
This is definitely a Pixel Phone issue. I have the same problem on my Pixel Fold with both the original Pixel Buds Pro as well as the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. This doesn't happen with my Tab S9, though, as far as I can recall.
Great review! Can you share your eq settings? I think mine sound good but I kinda like the vocal boost eq preset the best but maybe a different eq would sound even better, I just don't know where to start 🤔
Could you figure out what LE Audio mode does on these? I had them for a few days and by turning them on the sound became a little different - not worse but I could not tell exactly what.
If you have ANC toggle on left bud, Gemini on right, do you use one of the controls when wearing one bud only? If you set it both for ANC you lose one control anyway 😉
I've had the exact Gemini problem and music/podcast not resuming for many headphones on android. It is completely unreliable. One of the main uses of my smart watch is resuming music, which seems to work all the time (which is odd, you'd think that would work using the same protocol)
Hey they I have experience the exact the same problem as you!! Will Google fix this?! It’s bloody annoying man?! Also the spatio audio and head tracking seems not working?!
Shane, can you try something with these buds, please? If you listen to something on device A and you're connected to a 2nd device with multipoint. What happens when you start playing something on device B? Will the sound play on the device's speaker or will it start and pause immediately? My Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 let the music play on their speaker but some multipoint devices stop the music on device B which is kinda annoying behaviour. Imagine I am watching a youtube video. Why couldn't I at the same time just listen to quick voice memo or video someone sends me.
Paired to my Pixel and to my PC, if my Pixel has audio playing and try playing on my PC the PC audio will try to pause and wait it's turn. It's the same situation in reverse. New audio can't interrupt current audio.
