Norma here. We used to have seven huge pine trees in our backyard. After Hurricane Frances came through in 2001, my yard was a mess of branches and twisted up trees. We had to have a company come out and take them all down for safety reasons. Now I have no shade at all in the back of my house. My backyard faces west. It’s horribly hot back there when the sun is setting. At least my yard isn’t covered in pine needles anymore. Katee’s little pen is just fine for right now. I love how she plays with the little dogs. Kim, I hope you didn’t hurt your back moving her little shed and I hope your shoulder feels better. You better rest and not push yourself too hard.

It's just a temporary fence for Katee, it will serve its purpose and then you can take it down. I would think the people who trimmed those trees should have cleaned it up too, it's a shame how some companies don't do the complete job. Katee is so stinkin’ adorable when she hops, it makes me giggle. I hope she she likes her new little home and it keeps her safe. Having trees cut down is soooo expensive but if they’re dying and rotting it pays to have them taken out before they fall on someone’s house or someone gets hurt.
Hi Kim It's hard to believe that Katee couldn't use her back legs because she's a nonstop bouncy ball 😊. Curious to see how she drinks water being with the dogs and watching them. I had 2 small dogs that my girl grew up with and she watched them lap water. She drank like that for over a year before she seen the boys drink like goats 😅. I see Katee being a yard goat not a field goat 😂. Hopefully you don't give in and build her a stall inside the house like my husband did for our girl. She will be 3 this year and has never spent a night in the barn with the other 4 goats. She has a sister that will be 2 this year with her and she's never slept in the barn. That changes this year!! Good morning Kim and Levi! If the power line company cut the trees they're responsible for the clean up. You might call them and file a complaint and inform them that you thought they were going to finish the cleanup. It's not right that you have to cleanup their mess because someone was lazy. We had a similar issue here and once I contacted them they had someone out within 7-10 days to finish the cleanup. Just a thought to try that before you spend your hard earned money on cleanup? Also if that tree is close to the power lines often you can get them to take it down for you because they won't want to have to come out during a storm to fix the power lines. Might save you a bit of money. Katie sure is growing fast and has gotten her legs under her. If the fence is temporary no need to make it perfect. If it's something that would be permanent might I suggest that you use a ATV to stretch the fence tight so you can secure it. The yard looks so good. We haven't had to start our mowing season yet. With our move I am thankful that I still have another 3-6 weeks before the mower needs to come out. We have so much cleanup to do because the property sat empty 13 months before we purchased it. Then we we had 110 mile hour straight line winds come through in August knocking down several trees. The small town close to us was without power for 8 days because of all the tree damage. All the farmers brought their tractors to town to clear the roads so our city workers could run new electrical lines and put up new power poles. Hey Kim , Katees little pen looks good and plenty large enough for her when she has to be in it , you might want to put some zip ties on the fence with the T-post on the inside because the fence is loose enough that Katee can climb between the fence and post and possibly get stuck or hurt if she does !! Yes you might want to have that big rotten tree removed ASAP it’s the most danger to your house because you don’t know how much of it is rotten inside ! Lester’s friend and all around job helper Ureal does all kinds of jobs including cutting down trees , he might be able to cut it down reasonably priced for you , you could ask Lester to ask him if he’s interested in checking out if he has time !! Those two trees are definitely need to come down. We had to have one done 1 year ago we couldn't afford to have it hauled off so we cut it up small. Now once it is seasoned we're going to sale it for firewood.

Check with the county. They should cut the dead tree because it’s so close to the ride of way. Also let them know they trimmed and left a mess. They should mulch that up at the same time. Check it out.
I have the same issues with trees, but it’s worse because of many types of vines. The property next door is vacant. They have big trees. The last typhoon we had, May 2023, split the big trees over to my trees along with the vines, so that made it worse. We’re having to rent a lift so we can get up there over twenty feet to cut back branches and vines 😓. Katee is all set. I know it’s going to be hard, Kim! Hello Kim,I noticed your shoulder hurting for awhile now. What I do for my hurt shoulder is put a ice pack where it hurts. The ice is ruff but just a minute or less is good.Then I use my rice heating pad as soon as your done with ice. The moisture heating pad is what the Doctors recommends. This takes my pain away for along time. I really hope this works for you too. The pain makes it hard to sleep. God Bless you and yours.

Hi Kim, I also know about projects. I write lists of things I need to do then I find more as I’m starting my projects. It’s never ending. I’m looking forward to outside projects once it stays above 55. I’m doing spring cleaning inside and starting all my vegetable plants from seed inside. I babysit at my sons home 2 days a week, 7-7 and this fall once their 2nd baby comes, I’ll be 3 days a week so I’m trying to get major projects done now.

I wonder if you called the utility company that made the mess, if you explained your situation and the atrocious mess and predicament they left you with, if they would come back and clean up after themselves? As for the trees, around here, people sometimes advertise free firewood or wood for milling if they take down the trees. Perhaps you could advertise on Marketplace 2 trees to be taken down and they can have the wood for projects or firewood, etc. Maybe someone would be interested in the wood for milling on their personal sawmill. Or, as others have suggested, Uriel is very skilled with a chainsaw and does tree service for a living. Perhaps, you can hire him for a decent price as a side job. I know he is always looking for extra work. He is an awesome young man with a family. Please talk to Lester and Jami about this. Those trees are dangerous and really shouldn't wait. Kim, I live in Houston and I have quite a few pine trees that are over 100 years old. Some have died and I have had to have them taken out. The tree guys climb all the way up and just start chopping off chunks. They do not cut from the bottom and have the whole tree fall.
I so understand your issue with rohan. One of my cats will scream at door wanting in I’ll let her in and she’ll run straight to other end of house to the other door and scream to be let back out. She does it all the time. My old roommates say if she was in house and I was gone she would walk thur house screaming for me.😂😂 cats gotta love um!!

Oh no ma'am. It's very dangerous letting animals from different homes be together. Like recently when their goats were sick and Baby Girl got through the gate that was left unlocked by Lesters driveway. Once she was with Lesters goats I had to quarantine her from the rest of my goats to make sure she wasn't sick and pass on the sickness to my goats

Yes, that's how they took the pecan tree down in the back yard. They topped it first then cut the trunk

I so understand your issue with rohan. One of my cats will scream at door wanting in I’ll let her in and she’ll run straight to other end of house to the other door and scream to be let back out. She does it all the time. My old roommates say if she was in house and I was gone she would walk thur house screaming for me.😂😂 cats gotta love um!!

Well, isn’t that nice of the power people to leave all that mess! Around here they come with their chipper truck right with them …they actually coordinated with a tree service to trim out around the power lines last year - they do an awful job otherwise! They don’t care what it looks like! I have a couple trees that need to come down too … not lookin forward to that $$$ 🙄 Little Katee is so cute❣️ I think she already likes her space!

Oh no ma'am. It's very dangerous letting animals from different homes be together. Like recently when their goats were sick and Baby Girl got through the gate that was left unlocked by Lesters driveway. Once she was with Lesters goats I had to quarantine her from the rest of my goats to make sure she wasn't sick and pass on the sickness to my goats

I would call the power company if they had it cut they are supposed to take it away. At least that's the way it is in New Jersey. The electric company has a contract with a tree company and they take it away.
