Thanks. Good video. My door is making a squealing noise. Has anyone come across this before. I'm thinking its something to do with the spring inside? Might need a squirt of grease after 15 years? If so, whats the best way to get to the centre of a 5.5m wide door?
Hi, There is a metal on metal noise when closing the door between 4:02 and 4:10 As if the panels are clinking on each others Do you know what that noise it and how it can be fixed?
Great video. My door is a manual door. Opening it the ‘roller’ doesn’t keep up with the door and it doesn’t ‘spool’ properly at the top. It bunches up. The only way to open without this happening is by ‘paddling’ it both arms above my head. Any suggestions? Could this be a re-tension? Or more likely something else.
Perfect. This was the best video a girl could find after my friend accidentally loosened the spring. And very easy on the eye too! (And I'm not talking about the roller door;-))
My door problem is that the door parted from the left hand side I have re attached the door to the wheel with the door fully rolled out I have to re tension the left spring only how many turns are the starting point the door is 12 ft wide and 8ft high
hey mate.. r u familiar with the airport branded roller shutter door? mines working.. only thing is when it comes to closing it stops and leaves an opening of about 300mm.. why is that? tensioning fix will sort it out??
Great Video. Helped us to fix a roller door at friends place. Have issue with one of the other roller door which balloons out initially while rolling down and the door jerks in the track.. In manual mode the roller door holds whilst half way down. So not sure what the problem is. Can you please tell me how to fix this? thanks
Just like to say good video BUT big mistake in this video is that you have to door down when you undone the spring (u bolts) that is SUPER dangerous the roll needs to be up ... on a small door like this its no real issue but do it on a bigger door the one u bolt wont hold all that spring tension and you will have people worse off than before ... when a roller door like this is down the spring is at FULL tension have it up its like maybe 2-3 turn worth of tension ... If the door doesn't want to stay up use some visegrips to hold it up ...
There is only 1 U-Bolt on each side of the door - so - how come you tightened both sides yet the door opener was still able to rotate - something weird there mate.
Jesus mate DO NOT under any circumstances undo ubolts whilst the door is down and under HIGH tension. RE tensioning is done whilst the door is open and DIY’rs put a rope around it for safety. If you didn’t spin the motor around the limits wouldn’t be out of sync either maybe you need some training mate.
@@jasonmcdaid2200 Quite the contrary, with correct precautions taken, can be carried out in a completely safe manner. Too many “one jobbers” on YT that possess tunnel vision.
Easy fix ! I just fix for my cousin door ! The door has 2 switches sensors ( 1 is goes up and 1 switch sensor going down so the 1 switch going down faulty so 1 going down need to be change )
G'day mate. I have problem with my garage roller door. Every time I open or close the door it makes very loud squeaking noise. how can I fix that any help will be much appreciated please.
Clean the runners (best to remove them and clean full distance and also roller door edge whilst accessible) and lubricate the coils / springs eg silicone spray or light grease.
If you adjust tension with door up it would be very hard to guess how much more tension is neededto correct the problem. I go with the door half up method, makes more sense to me.
A potentially dangerous video for a amateur or handyman to follow. Ive been installing and servicing doors for 40 years now and never would I recommend to a handyman to tension a door while down
You would think you wouldve edited the part where you forgot to tighten the opener up, but NOOOOOO, you mustve thought it was real funny by the end that you almost broke a 250$ motor......
Thanks Andrew, good job clear and concise and a nice smile every now then when you were doing the presentation, top marks Andrew
The smiles gave me a chuckle :-)
Wonderful video. I like roller doors because of how they work and they also take up less space than traditional garage doors.
Imagine if you had to swing it open
Thanks mate - a no nonsense clip that tells me just what I need. Thanks.
Aldo McNaldo thanks for the feedback, we're glad to be down to earth : ' )
Hi guys,

SuperPilotSP glad we could help, cheers, Andrew
Thanks, really helped, was wondering how to retention!
Well presented, good stuff 👍
Absolute ripper! Fixed it. Thanks mate.
Good clear video - thanks for sharing.
Is that an impact wrench or driver? I only have an Impact driver, will that provide enough torque to loosen and tighten the bolts?
I’m about to tighten mine, my mate Tony Aitken mentioned he knows you and by co-incedence this video came up! I’m about to attempt fate....
Great illustration.

How much would you charge if you did this on a rental property?

Hi there. Should the roller door be rolled up or down when tensioning the springs?
Cheers Silvie

Did you ever solve this issue? We have the same problem.
@@thetruth00 still having the issue. But it's sporadic. I am still confused whats causing it.
What a champion ! good on ya mate
Thank you, great help. My roller door unstrung.
Yep worked really well thanks mate. But be warned it can be quite dangerous if things go wrong
Would this be the same for a none motorised door?
Life saver!!!
Thanks a lot I have done it
how do you fix a door that hangs off the roller when it opens
thank you
Thanks bro
I can not see which bolts you are loosening.
plc can yu fix my door lm in Melbon

What can make a new roller door without a motor suddenly crash down, it's only opened around once per week
Broken spring, lost or no tension on springs inside of the roll at top.
❤❤❤❤
Didn't work for me , tightened right hand side , loosed left hand side and something spun and now the door wont go up at all .
There is only 1 U-Bolt on each side of the door - so - how come you tightened both sides yet the door opener was still able to rotate - something weird there mate.
The red cord disengages the motor and it can spin freely

U never retention a roller door in the down position I wouldn't recommend anyone do it this way😂
Maybe join a pit crew if you like using the torque settings on your gun so much.

Wrong! Do it with the door rolled up. Then there is hardly any tension and way easier to turn that bar!
Is this true?
That makes sence Paul.....
