Cool man. I did a wash to just the head because i liked the headsculpt of this figure, but the walgreens version better. But before that, I took some acetone to the headsculpt and took off that yellow paint. Comes right off. Gave it a wash with some similar dark color of the original figure and bam! Perfect Thing figure for me.
@@josephelston895 It can, if you are too harsh with it. It can eat at the rubber or plastic and start to fade it as well. It doesnt take much at all to wipe the paint off. Just a few Qtips of acetone. 1 to 3 swipes per Qtip to be safe. If u swipe anymore with the same Qtip, u will just began to smear the paint u were tryna rub off. 1 to 3 swipes then onto a new Qtip. However, Id advise not using it if the paint you are trying to wipe off is atop of other paint. Its gonna wipe both of em off. But since the yellow in Things face was just on top of the plastic hes made out of, it wasnt an issue at all. Not sure how monster Venom is gonna worrk since I dont yet have it.
Did you use a matte sealer spray after or just the wash? I just did my own with the wash and I love the look, I'm just wondering if I should seal it or not.
I’ve seen a few vids on the same custom. Yours seem to have turned out the best. Maybe the extra step in leaving the wash to dry first, then go back and take off on the larger areas and sanding helped it pop more. Good job.

It’s just a soft block with sand paper on it can get from amazon and even sometimes the dollar store, I’ll make a follow up for you! Been meaning to revisit this one anyone it’s
This is really cool. I didn't realize this figure didn't have a wash when I ordered it, so I wouldn't mind doing this myself when it arrives. I have some questions if you don't mind me asking. 1. How long do you have to wait for the wash to dry? 2. Is the figure okay to handle after the wash? Or does some of the paint come off after handling the figure too much? 3. Is the paint you used non-toxic? I imagine it is, but I feel that it's safe to ask just in case.

And those are all great questions 1, I usually let it dry in the background of other stuff I’m doing so I can’t give a specific frame of time but you can always use a hair dryer to speed up the process 2. The figure is fine once the wash dries, yes it will come off in certain high contact areas like knees and elbows but for the most parts good to go 3. Yes the wash I use is acrylic and water based but I wouldn’t drink it lol

Qtip cotton Swab.
You can use something like Windsor & Newton Brush Cleaner and Restorer to remove paint also. I will say the wash used in this video is great.
