I am Algerian and I am honored that you listened to this great national anthem written by Moufdi Zakaria with the blood of the dead on the walls of the prison at the time of French colonialism 🇩🇿💗
Yes, School Marching band. Bouncy, fast and cheerful tune. Dissonant with the lyrics. Wikepedia lists 5 versus. A couple of lines of verse 2 _"So we have taken the noise of gunpowder as our rhythm, And the sound of machine guns as our melody,"_ Four from verse 3 _"O France, the time of reproof is over, And we have ended it as a book is ended; O France, this is the day of reckoning. So prepare to receive from us our answer!"_ I wonder if any nation who got independence from the UK have lyrics as clear as that?
yeah We're taught from early age how our country fought back against the French invasion in the Battle for Independence that started 1954 and ended 1962 (the battle, not the invasion which lasted 130 years), so we all have family members who lived through the war and oppression.
@@Kwerimirewk Thank you for replying. It is helpful to have some context. I hadn't realised it was so recent, and lasted so long. I'd assumed France would have been more willing to leave having been occupied themselves during WW2. I wish you and your family a happy and peaceful future. ☮
Haha...short and sweet... i love a good cymbal bang..seems blood is mentioned a lot in these anthems..uptempo and could easily imagine a marching band doing this as you say...fun fact: After Sudan split into Sudan/South Sudan, Algeria is officially the largest country in Africa (area-wise) now
It's actually just one chapter of the full anthem, the Algerian national anthem contains 5 chapters, it's pretty long and we sing the first chapter as a shortcut, specially in sport like football because singing the full anthem will take a little bit of time
A bit of a strange one Squirrel . Like you I thought the words suggest a fight for survival. But the tune seems light and bouncy. Perhaps as a celebration of winning that fight.
@@revenger8744 Believe me, what I say is true. I know the history of my country more than anyone else, and I know that Algeria was the first to recognize our independence At the time of American independence, Algiers was a nominal vassal of the Ottoman Empire with the power to conduct its own independent foreign relations. Algeria recognized the United States in 1795, although permanent diplomatic relations were not established until after Algeria emerged from subsequent French rule in 1962🔱

@@RED_BUNNY_ at one point in time i thought that algeria recognized america first but american kept saying that it was morocco i searched and i found that it's true
As an Algerian, I am proud of my country, but to be honest, you did not listen to the best part of the anthem, where we threaten France. If you had heard it, it would have been better.
More than 5.6 million Algerian Martyres died for that anthem, and it wasn't written with a pen on paper but with their blood on prison walls. Listen to the whole anthem and you'll understand what I am talking about.

It sounded like a marching band at the start of band camp, because there wasn't much to it. Interesting.
Cet extrait de l'hymne national algérien ne représente que le premier couplet il n'est pas complet.
