I really need to get into time blocking, especially with the new academic year starting soon, but, as someone with ADHD I do find it hard to focus on tasks at specific times. Sheffield Eagles are my RL team. 👍
The best way to start is to begin small. You could try 30 minutes in the morning blocked for something specific. As you develop the habits and routines, you can expand the time or frequency of blocks.
I eat twice a day. After my focused session in the morning and at 6:00PM. Eating times don't need to be on my calendar because I know when to eat (I'm hungry)
Hi Carl! Awesome vid as always! I was wondering: how do you handle delays? As in: you planned a coaching call in the evening, and a client is sick or unavailable at the last moment. Because even though you have a time-block planned for coaching calls, how do you plan a specific call? Is it intuition and do you know when is the best time to reschedule? Or do you have a 'call list' with specifics available to reschedule calls? Cheers!
With my coaching programme, the emphasis is on the client to schedule their calls. If they miss a call, they will reschedule through my scheduling service. I use Acuity for scheduling, although I believe Calendly is free.
I wonder why you don't reserve spots for coachings that cannot interfere with other time blocks? A tool like Tucalendi helps immensely. My coaching sessions can only be booked on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons and when there's already time blocked, no one can book into that time.
Hi Brigit, All my coaching call time slots are through a scheduling service called Acuity. This way, my coaching calls are clearly separated from the times when I do my work.
hi, i wonder how u handle the unforeseen situation like sick and etc. i realized when i sick i nolonger able to cope with daily routine and when recovering i have to face the routine task that being pileup during i sick and also the work ?
The last time I was sick was five years ago. When that happened, I stopped everything and focused on my recovery. Work is never more important than health. When I recovered, I found that around 70% of the stuff had sorted itself out, and the backlog took around two weeks to catch up. All I needed to do was add an extra thirty minutes to my communication and admin time to do that.
😂nice lesson, but how do we integrate tasks to the calendar when we do weekly planning? I’m currently relying on Todoist calendar view and duration of tasks but it’s quite the opposite to flexibility
You don't. There are far too many unknowns to accurately predict how long a task will take or even if it's still relevant on the day you plan to do it. Instead, develop your categories of work and use calendar blocks to do your categories. Then, use Todoist's labels to match your categories, and when the time comes, work from your daily category list.

New to your videos and absolutely love the thought process behind everything. Also can’t resist the James Bond references
Hahaha, thank you Matthew.
The opening sentence is spot on

@@Carl_Pullein I'll try that, ta! 🙂
Carl, whenever you move time blocks in your calendar do you also change the dates for the tasks in Todoist?
Very rarely. I try to keep my time blocks fixed as muh as possible.
Carl, do you have different calendars or are the meals in the same personal calendar just with a different color?
