Hi Cathy. I also always put my marker tops on and off because I have accidentally picked up the wrong color and messed up a project. I just remove my cap away from my project so that if you have a new or juicy marker, I don't accidentally get a splatter. I have some Copics and they are wonderful, but I also have Ohuhu markers and they are also wonderful and especially more affordable
I have been following you since scrapbook days! I am a good deal older than 58! I broke my wrist in January, no card making for me at the moment. I never miss your video ! Love your fun conversation! Usually I watch the reply, but it’s always fun!💕
Oh i feel your pain! I broke my wrist in 2018 and there was no crafting for about 6 weeks!

Cathy, and just watching back your live and saw Monicas superchat and comments and it has made me very emotional, as I found you and Gina K whilst undergoing chemo for the third time last year. I have found, through you both, the most wonderful hobby, which brings me so much joy. You are both so upbeat, funny and talented and I eagerly await your posts. The other thing that struck me was the overwhelming messages of support from your followers, which I’m sure means the world to Monica. In Pennsylvania we have a lot of Native words, too: Susquehanna, Tamaqua. My favorite is Monongehela. I just like the way it sounds. I'm a nerd. 😊💛

👍 on the OLO train. There’s 2 different ink cartridges, they aren’t connected, how can it have anything to do with the ink flow? “Congratulations” Monica. Cathy, thank you for showing us a new technique and the card is fabulous. TYFS.😊

I love the blue.. I love OLOs and copics.. to me it seems like OLOs are more juicy, but that can be good or bad depending on circumstances.. OLOs have new colors coming out in April I can’t wait..

Alcohol markers dry up really quickly b/c alcohol evaporates extremely quickly. That is probably the reason why a lot of people recommend keeping the cap on as much as possible. This is also the reason why some alcohol markers have a tendency to dry up if left alone unused for long periods in spite of being properly capped.

Loved watching your video today Cathy, such a beautiful card! I’ve always been copic curious, and wish I had started collecting when I first discovered paper crafting. I was actually discouraged to buy them by the owner of my fav Craft store..told me I really should wait until she had a class for them..except the class didn’t happen.
Anywho, love the results of these AI markers on your die cuts today. Would Olo’s be a good beginner set?
You know, they could be! You could also try a few Tri Blend markers from Spectrum Noir! You get three colors in one pen and they are very affordable!

Loved your home state chat today! I was born and raised in Auburn, WA. Knew the Seattle/Everett area well. Dad worked for Boeing. Lots of family still in Yakima. I didn’t go far though, just to southern Washington now. Still love the PNW.

I haven't committed myself to any markers yet, so I appreciate your take on them. I have a number of Triblends (from Crop & Create events), a few OLOs, and one of my daughters has some Copics so we share those. Not a good full rainbow of any, though.
I always enjoy your lives! Even when they're on replay. (Since a Jennifer we know and love has committed us to suffering in pilates at that time... 😂) Happy Almost Birthday Month! I'm a March also, as is my oldest daughter. 🍀

I think with alcohol markers which brand is best for you depends largely on what's important to you, consider what type of nib is available, are the nibs replaceable? is the ink refillable? and, how many colors are there? are they available in open stock? the answers to those questions may determine the best brand for you

I just had a similar bad experience, Cathy! I used Versamark clear ink to watermark my card. I colored the flowers with alcohol markers and restamped it with my Misti n permanent black ink (Gina K obsidian amalgam ink). I went to do a second layer of color and the black started smearing all over my colors!! I think the embossing ink acted like a resist even though it was not embossed with powder and was very dry. So I assume that the black ink stayed ontop with nowhere to absorb. Made a mess! Similar to your ? about not using alcohol markers over embossed images. I don't think it could hurt the nib! Has anyone ever had this experience with the ink smearing? Thanks!

Haha, I guess the only thing is to keep practicing with many coloring mistakes, lol. I'm like you, coloring with markers is not my forte but I'll still forge ahead ☺️

We have family that live there!
Yes…We literally live in the woods😂! We’re way back in Seabeck. It takes about 30 minutes to get into Silverdale, which is the closest town to us.
The “town” of Seabeck consists of a General Store, a pizza hut(literally a little pizza hut ….not the chain Pizza Hut), and a little store that’s in the same building as the General Store.
We also have a very small post office. I believe that’s all the businesses technically in Seabeck. I grew up in the Central Valley in California, and moved here 17 years ago after I became very sick as a teen (15) diagnosed with POMS-(Relapsing Progressive type) as well as several other diseases. Along with being paralyzed (quadriplegic at that time and for about 2 1/2 years after that) at the age of 18 and almost dying then from my disease.
I could no longer take the horrible heat they have in that area of California…….
My parents and I moved here together, and we love it here!
Well, my Dad passed a few years ago, but my Mom and I love it here! Only problem living in Seabeck is that we get too much snow, and too many power outages. We finally bought a push start generator last year! That’s a game changer!
I just want to tell you, Cathy, how much I enjoy watching your videos and how much you have impacted my life!
Since I found you and Jennifer, and Kelly Taylor too, I’ve been a happier person!

if you want a scientific explanation re: embossing powders and alcohol markers, maybe ask JM's hubby? I saw an explanation in the live chat that resonated with the chemist in me... the alcohol might dissolve the embossing powder and it could solidify in the marker tip. It might not be a problem if you do it once or twice, but with repeated use in this manner... well, results may vary. :)
