This could help some people drastically. However like you said Locus, it may not be for everyone and may seem uncomfortable. This could help me through. Thanks again for the great tips.
I think taunt input is for single Joy-Con. Taunt is clicking the stick with different directions, it would save inputing taunts while trying to use command inputs.
@@krystof5271 hehe it was a pannenkoek reference i just heard "a is pressed when its let's go" or something and that's the first thing that came to mind
I wonder If negative edge something normal in these kinds of games, or if they have to actively program this mechanic in the engine, cause of it is then that’s so thoughtful of the smash developers.
I was practicing with Terry and I think I found an infinite maybe. It jab 1 into 2 down tilts into jab 1 into 2 down tilts u til you either mess it up or kill. Don’t know though since I’m inexperienced. Also you can’t do the down tilts with the c stick for this it has to be L stick and A down tilts
What is your entire controller button mapping? I want to get good with Terry and after being introduced to you through Alpharad I watched this video and a few others and learned you were using tilt stick. Is there anything else that is different from default in your control scheme?
@Locus I am having trouble with speed for ftilt busterwolf, and I found you can buffer the first half of the input before the cstick ftilt even comes out. Sometimes I get dash attack though, is this method worth it or should I just buffer the whole input during the cstick ftilt instead
Try to make sure you’re pressing the c stick forward at the same time as or before you’re pressing down, the dash attack is because you’re starting your quarter circle before the animation for ftilt has started and making your character start a dash. As long as you get the timing down you should be fine, just a little practice on making sure your sticks are in the right locations at the right times. Going into training mode on 2/3 speed to get a feeling for exactly when you should be moving your hands relative to each other could help, then just practice on full speed for a bit until you feel you’re consistent (and don’t forget to practice both left and right facing inputs).
traptrac thank you!! I also found it works if you do the first qtr circle before the ftilt and then wait so it wont register the forward input then ftilt qtr circle. Im just not consistant yet. So basically you can store the first qtr circle input for a few frames before the ftilt
Tiernan Huntington If your first quartercircle causes you to start dashing you’ll still get the dash attack, and trying to hit a quartercircle quickly without hitting forward hard enough to dash seems inconsistent. I’d recommend just practicing getting it faster with starting at the same time as the ftilt for consistency, but hey if you can make he half buffer work then go for it. Command inputs are all muscle memory so try not to get down on yourself if you’re struggling, usually you just need to do it more before your hands get a feel for it and becomes much easier for you.
traptrac thanks! and yeah you make a good point, i should go for consistency. also doing combos into ftilt might get messed up if i am trying to do the first part of the buffer during a fair or nair
I feel like practicing all that to make sure dash attack doesnt come out during ur inital qcf input takes much more work than just learning how to do a double quarter circle. Just my opinion tho.
Does it work on pro controller? Is it normal control scheme for dpad? I tried with my joycon (I'm not home and don't carry my pro unless going to a tourney or friend's) and it didn't work
I bought the Smash Ultimate one that came with Ultis release for about $30 at GameStop, but I was unable to find an original GC Controller at any local stores, but online there are third party ones that are a little cheaper, but tbh, I dont trust em. theres also wireless ones, but I dont know if they are Nintendo approved. Best of luck in your GC Controller hunt.
Probably wont see this but Locus, How do I stop negative edge? Like im trying to practice dair>nair>ftilt>Buster Wolf but I keep getting power dunk after the dair. I have my c stick set to tilts so idk what to do. Pls help
There’s no way to turn it off that I know of, the best way I could think to fix that is either be really fast about tapping and releasing A when you input dair, or just use the cstick to dair in the first place so you don’t have to bother with the A button at all (that’s what he recommends in his “How to stop messing up inputs with Terry” video). Otherwise you could try making sure you reset the stick to neutral before going forward, but that’s probably much more trouble than just using cstick dair imo. Hopefully this helps!
ik right. I wish that instead of having 2 jump buttons, nintendo made either X or Y a smash attack button so that A could be strictly for tilts and ariels
Negative edge is way more useful with Ken/Ryu hard tilts, since you have to hold a button first. Also... WTF , how is that NO ONE talker about taunt input in the air for the Shotos ??? That's PERFECT !
Wait, taunt button inputs. Better not be the dpad Also that's what negative edge is huh, I always knew about this since the beginning then WAIT YOUR SAYING I CAN USE THE DPAD FOR INPUTS LIKE BUSTER WOLF
2 fast burn knuckles is the best way i can put it. And for power geyser it's a crack shoot motion finished with forward and attack. Just practice doing all the other specials first then the super specials should come naturally and doing the specials that way makes them way stronger too
How'd I never notice blind and disabled Freddy Krueger's brother tryna play the piano like Ray Charles in the background till now? Someone give that man some fingers!
So i really don't know what to do when i get launched off the stage as terry but with my back towards the stage.. How should i recover from this, since both side B's go the other direction than the stage

Yeah the dumbasses over at Nintendo added it two games, and it still isn't functional lol.
This explains why i always seem to get Fspecial when i try to dair nair

”love him or hate him, he’s talking straight facts”
As Ken/Ryu I’ll use negative edge for down tilts into roundhouse kick or hadoken since you usually want the light versions

negative edge is the exact same thing as a half A press

Thanks, now I know why I’ve been doing random true inputs when I didn’t want to, wish I knew about the a button thing sooner
Being a single joycon Terry, negative edge helps with u-tilt power geyser and things of that sort.
Have you thought about an active input controller on screen (showing what buttons your using)
