I don't agree, they purposefully didn't tell him that the demon king lineage gets passed down to its killer, then used him as a sacrifice to kill the demon king, meaning knowing that if one of them killed the king, they would become the king, so they made someone who didn't know kill the king then killed them mid way through the transformation
