Very well thought out and executed. Looking around your shop, I recognize many of the tools. You are a metal worker and probably a blacksmith. I am a professional blacksmith and it is always nice to see excellence. Thank you for sharing. :)
This is the best machine I've seen for this kind of grain cleaning. Fantastic. Would be great to see more detailed photos of various parts of it. I understand it takes time to put plans together, but just additional photos of how it's put together would be much appreciated. Building this is outside of my skillset currently, but seeing what you've done inspires me to stretch.
There are those of us who can come up with concepts and build them, and those of us who can't. What I'd like to see is availability of plans so those of us who are conceptually handicapped can build one for ourself.
Hey jeffrey excellent machine! I would suggest you get a patent for it, it seems fairly easy to assemble which makes it a good candidate to sell to businesses specializing in farm equipment. I can't imagine many other machines costing less to fabricate which puts yours easily at the top of the competition.
I love your de-hulling machine! I am needing to build one for my own grain project and this is the best I have seen by far on a small scale. Great work! I am half way through building a similar scale threshing machine which I hope will work as nicely as your de-huller, Cheers!
What will you charge to make one? My wife and I are beginning a homestead with out first 5 acres of einkorn and we love this. Great job! It’s the perfect contraption for off grid living.
Wow...fantastic! Not many have your knowledge, skills and engineer mind to create something like that. Wish I could just order one from you. Really practical for the small scale grower. We want to grow our own wheat, rye, oats and rice. This machine would be perfect for us!
well how about that! I love this contraption you've built. I have recently purchased a small plot of land in which I am planning and growing into a small but sustainable farm for my tiny family, including my Fly Girls (the chickens), with hopes of cutting down the cost of mega spending at the supermarket and mega centers. This machine here will help with the grains I grow...or a concept idea of something much similar. Thank you so much for the share and the brilliant ideas formed to real life attainable products. Simply genius and beautiful! Thanks again and God bless!
I'm a small homestead in Idaho... Super needing one? Due to the cost of feed, I'm in the process of sprouting greens for the animals. I m thinking of growing enough barley and wheat for the family and the goats, knue knue pigs and chickens! I love this.
Jeffrey; Man I have watched 10 or 15 vids on this stuff and yours is by far the best thing I have seen so far and I don't think I'm gonna see anything close to it!!!! You killed it man, show us your other stuff to! Don't keep all that savvy to yourself! Awesome man! I subscribed and I will be waiting for the next vid.
You're a genius... pedal power is I believe the "future" (of human-powered devices anyway). Please share the plans, I don't even need them but I would love to know they're available to others!
Your sheet metal skills are on point! You're cheating a bit using wood for the sides of the blower chute, lol, but I understand why. Very well made, wish my brain worked like yours!
esta increible mi amigo si no es mucha molestia preguntarle de q material son los discos por los q reemplazo las muelas del molino y mil gracias un cordial saludo desde venezuela
I wonder if that would work for dehulling lentils or buckwheat, both which find their way into gluten free bread. Wonderful machine. It looks like something I've seen in a Dr. Suess book and it works!
Fantastic machine Jeffrey. I'm part of a new grain growing co-op on Vancouver Island and this would be fantastic for our small-scale experiment. Do you have building plans/parts list you could share?(possibly Sketchup plans?)
I'm curious what kind of machine can be used to 'polish' the grains (ie brown rice becomes white rice). This video goes into great detail of a mechanism to de-husk and screen the grain from the hulls & shafts. I wish there was another like this but for polishing.
Don't know if you're monitoring this vid anymore, but do you have a source and size (diameter) for the natural rubber you used? Also, I'm guessing it is around 1/4" thick, is this correct?
Copied this from another video. Galen Lehman 3 years ago (edited) UPDATE: 1) In the video, we recommend gluing Grainger part number 1XWZ7, which is 1/6" rubber, to both burrs on the grinding surface. Further testing has shown that using 1XWZ7 on the handle side (stationary) burr and 1XWZ9, which is 1/8" thick rubber, on the moving burr is most effective.2) Food grade versions of the sheets listed above are available. However, we did not purchase or test those versions. If you test this setup with the food grade versions of the rubber pads, please post a comment and let us know how it worked. It looks like you should choose either 1MXC8 or 1TVK8 for the 1/16" sheet and either 1TVK5 or 1MXD3 for the 1/8" sheet. (I'm not sure what the difference is.)The grain mill is available from www.lehmans.com. Search for item number 1079030 or try this link: www.lehmans.com/product/economical-corn-mill
I am very impressed. I am trying to find a method to clean oats. would it be possible to make adjustments to this machine? I do roast the oats in 90 C so the hull is relatively easy to remove using two small sheets of rubber. Thanks
incredible design ! :D do you think it would work to dehull soy beans ? i been researching a mill to help me with my tempeh making , the only models i can find online is the corona or victoria mills on amazon, you using a Victoria right ? Peace out mate ! very cool machine ! :D
We made the first part of the mill (modifying the corn grinder) and it works great on our oats! Thank you so much!!!

This looks great! I'd also love to see the thresher in action, along with any of your other pedal powered contraptions. Keep up the grand work.
that is the slickest thing i have seen in a LONG time

10 years later and nothing? You could sell these plans online

Brilliant design-can't wait to see the thresher! Congratulations!
I'm in love with this setup. I hope you won't mind if I make myself a copy. Thank you so very much man!
You're a genius... pedal power is I believe the "future" (of human-powered devices anyway). Please share the plans, I don't even need them but I would love to know they're available to others!
This is so cool! I want to start growing some of my own grains as well.
SO impressed! You're such an amazing resource!
This thing is awesome! I would like to try building one just like it for oats. Thank you so much for posting.
Wow, buddy you are impressive! Incredible build!
love it! thank you so much for taking the time to share!
a proof that problems need more thinking than spending money! Genious!
Fantastic device. Do you have plans to release the blueprints for it?
Your sheet metal skills are on point! You're cheating a bit using wood for the sides of the blower chute, lol, but I understand why. Very well made, wish my brain worked like yours!
Wow, amazing! I want to start growing grain for my family on a small scale. I wish I had your mechanical skill set:)
Excellent Jeffrey, thanks for sharing
Bloody brilliant mate, you'd make a good neighbour.
Aww I wanted more videos. Well got to build one of those now.
esta increible mi amigo si no es mucha molestia preguntarle de q material son los discos por los q reemplazo las muelas del molino y mil gracias un cordial saludo desde venezuela
Awesome ! Thank you for sharing and blessing to you and yours ! Have you thought of selling your invention, I would be interested in purchasing :)
First I thought it was a black cat under the mill staring at me! 😂🙀
Nothing short of brilliant
Congrats - this is incredibly well done.
What a great idea, using rubber. Friggin hulls only come apart with shear force.
I wonder if that would work for dehulling lentils or buckwheat, both which find their way into gluten free bread. Wonderful machine. It looks like something I've seen in a Dr. Suess book and it works!
amazingly good concept! waiting to see your thresher ! ;-)
You, sir, are a master.
I love it! Well done Sir!
Nice. I will have to try to build one or two.
Ingenius. Nice job.
Subscribed!! Hope you get 80 more subscribers soon!
Wow. Awesome. You should sell these to small villages in Africa, to make a huge difference for local economies!
Fantastic machine Jeffrey. I'm part of a new grain growing co-op on Vancouver Island and this would be fantastic for our small-scale experiment. Do you have building plans/parts list you could share?(possibly Sketchup plans?)
This guy is legend!

So cool :D amazing job!
Nice video, thanks.
It was a bit boring till expiation.. from a 'pedal' part. You naturally Good Engineer!
Very impressive!I'm curious to know if a modified corona mill can hull sunflower seeds
Don't know if you're monitoring this vid anymore, but do you have a source and size (diameter) for the natural rubber you used? Also, I'm guessing it is around 1/4" thick, is this correct?
Very simple and amazing, good job
This is genius. Well done sir
Very clever. Well done there.
I have been searching for this, thank you!
Wonderful design. Would this invention dehull buckwheat?
Just found this. It could even be adapted for a grain as small as fonio. Have you you tried any thing that that small.
Awesome, thanks Jeffrey!
That’s fantastic!
thanks for the fantastic design! Can you tell me what you used for the rubber pads? Thanks for the help

Excellent job!
you should post plans that would be super helpful
absolutely brilliant!
Steeper seen. Work Nishtyak ...
RESPECT!
genius mate.
wonder if this can work for multiple types of grains.
Quality work
Neat, but how much grain is ending up on the floor?
curious how efficiently you got the grain heads separated from the stalks before hopper
great work....very innovative
Great work!!!
Well done! Bravo sir!
Very kool.

what a lovely machine... i can use it in my daily living.. can you show the design sir?
this is genius!
love it
lovely machine. how much would that be?
Thank You for the great video and information. Do you think that it would work with rice? Again Thank You.
Nice work.
Excellent
It looks like a lot of work but you know what they say; No pain, no grain.
So great.
Amazing
Does this work with einkorn, spelt, and emmer?
Very beautiful! How are you doing?
Where can I purchase one similar. I need to dehull rice grains.
What a neat idea. are you working on the thresher now?
shut up and take my money! very awesome idea.
incredible design ! :D do you think it would work to dehull soy beans ? i been researching a mill to help me with my tempeh making , the only models i can find online is the corona or victoria mills on amazon, you using a Victoria right ?
Peace out mate ! very cool machine ! :D
Amazing!
excellent !!
Way cool dude!
This is genius!
You ought to start building & selling them.
I wonder if your machine could take the shells off of sunflower seeds?
Genius!
