The Jags were trying to accomplish two things 1. Get Larger and 2. Get Stronger, at the end of last season the lines were getting pushed around by bigger more physical teams. Also, it shouldn't be a surprise because Trent Baalke likes the physical monsters (Not necessarily those with the stats). Remember too is the new Defensive scheme needs experienced press corners and that is what they got.
Now if people are going to base draft grades off of what social media mock draft owners grade players, sure they didn't grade well, but remember that 31 other teams passed on many of the players that the Jags are being criticized for and the Jags weren't the only ones needing those positions.

Thomas pick/move looks really promising and they needed it. Maason Smith has been recovering from an ACL and is going into a good DL room where he can learn and they could use depth there especially if the Davon Hamilton injury from last year is more serious than they might let on. Slot corner is a smart pick, Javon is a swing tackle which is needed and started 40 games. Kelian Robinson is a return specialist. They might be looking at an outside corner vet that isn't signed yet. Just some counter points to consider, like this draft overall especially compared to other recent Jags drafts. I don't see how anyone can think they lost honestly, I think that's moreso coming from people that believe the team isn't great and they have all these holes when really they just need to stay healthier this season.

I think the presence of both Rookie DTs are going to help Allen and Walker, offenses are going to have to decide who they are going to double team and will now have to scheme more against the DL. Offensive Line looks a lot better, but I really hope Walker Little builds up his upper body strength better.

Jones from FSU was best CB in draft in man coverage. Since Jags running press man that was a good pick! Prince was good in press too! 2nd round is a question mark but rest of draft was solid

I don’t agree with putting the jags at 2 on this list when they drafted way better than all these teams . Yea should we have taken a corner most definitely but they also have guys they’ve bought in via free agency and previous drafted players you have to let play out and see what they can do. If you draft a player and never give them opportunity and turn around to draft a guy to start over them den that’s a failed pick . Yes we have arik Roy Davon but we didn’t have depth at the position and lacked production from those rotational pieces smith was a best before the injury

People keep talking about AD Mitchell. It's widely reported that he has issues keeping his diabetes under control and experiencing mood swings and other issues with it. His effort is questionable and his teammates stated how it's difficult interacting with him at times. That's why he slipped down the board. All these average joes think they know more than all those NFL GM's who decided to pass on him.

Respectfully, its a little ironic that these reports come out when GMs are trying to tank players value to get them lower than when theyre expected to go. I have not heard one negative report while he was playing for texas or georgia. I'm not saying I know them personally so maybe their is truth to it. But lets be real, there are so many great players in the NFL who are prima donnas.

As a Jags fan, I agree 100%. Until they fire Baalke the Clown, we will never have a consistent team. My blind cat could pick better than the clown.

TLaw needed a receiver and BTJ is that guy imo. He has #1 receiver potential. Jones from FSU is exactly the corner they needed for their scheme. He will eat there

Jags fan we reached a lot. But some of them have potential I think but would have been better with a different 2nd rd.

Biggest loser was the panthers. Pretty much gave up caleb, dj, keenan, tyrique, wright and a 2nd in 25 for bryce.

Did I just hear right? Did you say because someone has stout edge pass rushers, they don't need to go after interior pass rush. You do know the offense runs smoothly in what is called rhythm and timing. If you have pass rush across the entire D-line, pressure busts pipes, the opponents offensive timing is screwed! That's like saying because I got JJ Watt and Miles Garett if draft day comes and we have a chance at a Aaron Donald or Ndamukong Suh type of players we should over look them because we have edge rushers. No sir you need rush up the middle and the edges. Your opponent will spend valuable resources to double and chip block.

Then they shouldn’t have payed him that money if their goal was to get a veteran qb to groom a rookie then they should’ve went for a cheaper option

@@buffpatrick7735 I agree with that but he prolly would’ve just signed with the vikings and we didn’t want to just put in penix immediately

They only gave him 45 mil guaranteed for 2 years and 15 for his 3rd year so I assume him and his agent knew that they wanted the ability to release or trade him by that time, also the team did tell him that they were drafting a quarterback he just didn't know it would be that early

Tiny hands Maye was the only Patriots player I didn't like. Baker is going to be a stud and Polk is under-rated. To me Milton is the worst of the bunch.
I kind of agree with you on Cleveland, but I rarely agree with anything Cleveland does. Miami's draft was good but their needs are many. Jacksonville's draft wasn't super sexy but they had quantity so taking gambles is justified. So what about Penix's' age? They signed an old QB coming off a huge injury who may not be ready to play day 1. Penix was my QB2 so I think it was a good pick. Drake London is going to eat. The Falcons have too much offensive talent to waste if the old guy doesn't make the bell.
