He will. On his 1st year in OKC he really struggled because he deferred to Russ but the next season he went nuts. Just like in LAC, he also struggled last season deferring to Kawhi, expect a huge next season from him.

Here are 2 points that could give PG a win in a MVP race:
1. he is the best defensive player in the race by a significant margin and leads an important stats category in that regard (steals).
I you wanna see what effect does it have when your best player does not play D just look at LAL. Houston was trash until Harden put some effort into it.
2. PG could be this year's "a player you would like to see on your team".
There are only a handfull of players you could blind-pick regardless of the rest of the roster (KD, Klay, Kawhi and from this year PG, too). No one thought KD could be replaced but here you go.
Looking at his game (and OKC's with him on the floor) if he wins it, it will not feel undeserved.
