I was asked what some techniques I might use to help mentors get a peek behind a mentee's work mask. What has worked for me is asking if the individual has any hobbies or activities about which they are passionate. For example, the person who asked me the question has their pilot's license, enjoys sailing - including racing, and has a passion for a specific breed of hunting dog (Vizslas - hopefully I'm spelling that right!). Learning these things through non-threatening questions, allows the mentor to see different facets of the mentee's personality. When you find what your mentee (or anyone really) is passionate about, you will find that they lower their social masks and feel more at ease being their authentic self. Give that a try and let me know how it worked for you!
Very informative 👏
