Full playthrough pls, I've never seen this game before
@@Zephadus it gets better past the first third of the game. The middle has a fair amount of grinding if you do everything though.
I'll check it out sometime then! Thanks
Upvoting and replying too to get more visibility, same opinion.
I'd encourage buying the game off psn if you have a ps3 or vita in the us. The first 2 games I believe were ported to the PSP in japan only btw
If you can get past the clunky controls, its a fun game.
Mega Man is such a lucky boy. We only see one Tron Bonne. But Mega Man probably sees two Tron Bonnes all the time given how cross eyed he is in this game.
I mean, just play/watch thr game cross-eyed and it's problem solved!
Full playthrough please! Also remember to scrounge through trash cans and boxes to get parts for new weapons and items!
plus he'll need all that money to fix the town, because he has to do everything around there :P
Let's hope he doesn't do an Arin.
This game is so full of character. Feels like watching an old Saturday morning Anime.
The artstyle is so great in this, and with it the facial animations are so expressive, that's some really impressive stuff for the PS1.
It really is, this was the graphics milestone of the age if I remember correctly. Or at least, stylistically it was. To me anyway! Its just so anime XD
I remember I was playing this game when I was kid, and my Mom just passed when the cutscene is playing and said "Are you playing game or watching a cartoon?"
It's just that good at the time.
This game aged EXTREMELY well because they went with a stylistic look rather than a realistic one, IE Resident Evil
@@Tailstraw_xD Stylistic tends to age better anyway. Just look at Super Mario Sunshine versus a lot of ps2 games.
I would love a full playthrough. Also a full playthrough of the sequel and of the Misadventures of Tron Bonne.
I love how the game looks. It's so cheerful and perky and the characters model are surprisingly beatiful and expressive for a PS1 game.
More please. :-)
Don't mess with my heart Jared, FULL PLAYTHROUGH!
Dew it
Not anymore LOL
Feelin' DanDy he just cheated on you
@@TotallyNotDoggo look who's clowning now nerd
To make saving more interesting Jared should dance like Data does the whole time but never mention that he's dancing or anything.
What are the chances of a Misadventures of Tron Bonne follow-up series?
Good luck getting a copy.
@@evandavis5223 Well if you have a PSP or Vita, getting all 3 is piss easy. Just make sure you log into your profile before you hit checkout. store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP9000-NPUJ00603_00-0000000000000001
Looks like those chances are a big fat 0 now, rip my friend
Man, I remember the plot of this game being like watching an anime just cause of the whole Tron Bonne being interested in Mega Man thing, and by the second game, there's a bit more of a rivalry for him between her and Roll.
...Hey, Capcom, you remade Resident Evil 2 recently, I'd love to you remake this game with modern anime style graphics and better controls.
That would require Capcom to care about Megaman. And if they did that, they'd have made Legends 3 by now.
Yeahhhhh... that was still a kick in the teeth. They advertised Legends 3 a ton, had a fan forum where people could vote on various things and give ideas which were to be used in the game, announced it was going to be released on the 3DS and a demo was going to come out shortly after the 3DS's launch, some people like Nintendo Power even got to play the demo and talked about it in an article and talked about a new character being introduced in it who I believe was playable, and then Capcom suddenly decided to pull the plug on the whole project, never publicly releasing the demo and cancelling the game entirely. Fans of the Legends series were PISSED, as was I, and they haven't done much with MegaMan since then other than a few sequels to the original MegaMan series.
Thank Inafune he fucked that up by wanting to start his own studio. Now his nothing but an afterthought and kind of a joke after Mighty No. 9 Current Capcom has a better reputation right then Inafune did going into the Mighty No.9 Kickstarter
As for mighty #2... check out 20XX on steam. I wont say anything more on that topic... but please do it, for your own benefit
But to be truthful, capcom is trending up in my eyes with some recent projects. They brought back classic mega... maybe if some sort of petition got large enough it could be made into a major consideration
@@SeanSolomon11287 Didn't Inafune get pissed at Capcom because they didn't want to do anything with MegaMan anymore? So he wanted to create a spiritual successor in Mighty No. 9 which... flopped horribly, but yeah.
Ms. Tron Bonne, you've stolen my heart~
Can I please have it back? Dying a bit here.
5:02 Miss Editor,
In the Legends series, Megaman Volnutt is 14, so you weren’t far off
Oh my gosh, I forgot how awesome Tron’s theme at 8:59 was! That was my JAAAM when I was younger. My nostalgia is rising... OVERFLOWING...
"Misery means I get paid more!"
Mrs Editor with the hottest take of 2019.
I always thought the defend city hall part was brutal as a kid, especially as the first real boss fight. That said, it gave me one of my favorite sound clips in gaming. If you barely succeed, there's actually a difference in tone, with the voice over sounding really unsure when they say "Mission...Complete?"
Yeah! I actually really struggled with Bonne Bonn as a kid, and you know what this game does absolutely fantastically? Rewarding you for beating a boss with new area's to explore. Everytime you beat a boss, the game has new area's that open up, meaning new parts, new dungeons and new people to talk to. And as a kid that struggled with the difficulty (it was difficult because I was a little kid) it made it all the more rewarding all the new stuff that came with beating a boss. Its fantastic.
Jared is confused. Teisel isn't the father but Tron's older brother.
It's been ages since he last played it so him remembering lore is going to be pretty off.
@@Gaia_BentosZX5 And to be fair, due in part to his grey hair, Teisel does look old enough to perhaps be Tron's father.
I hope you'll play The Misadventures of Tron Bonne for more Bonny/ie tsundere goodness, too! (Once MML & MML2 are done, of course..)
Also kick the can into the open deli(?) window gap in the mall to gain extra dark armour points and maybe money!
I LOVE Capcom's use of color and shading during this period in their history. It's a big reason why I still love looking at the Legends games, despite their low-poly models, and part of why games like Breath of Fire IV and Street Fighter III still look so gorgeous.
13:26 No, let's "Rock and Roll!"
*Megaman joke
What a dashing joke
I had a case of the Blues before you showed up.
Let's drop the Bass.
12:10 - "Misery means I get paid more!"
Is that the reporter talking, or Miss Editor about Jared's pain?
(It's proooooooobably the reporter.)
In the great words of Tony Stark : Is it too much to ask for both?
The servbots are so thoughtful to not drive on the grass. 😂
Please, full playthrough, Jared!
This is my favorite game of all time and the one I finished the most. I like it even more than 2. 2 has better feeling and controls, but 1 is more charming to me. A small cast of characters and simpler but awesome stuff happening.
I hope you play Misadventures of Tron Bonne eventually, it's a very underrated and amazing game. Specially because you're a fan of ms Tron and her kids.
whenever you don't save, I get flashbacks to when I had memory card troubles. Any time I died I had to restart the game, and in that era of my life I learned the important lesson of save early, save often. Never was able to beat Teisel Bonne until after I got a new memory card.
Play this all the way through. One of my favorite Megaman games.
Pro tip for completeing the blue, red and yellow tank battle quickly. At the start of the battle when they are stationary drop every single one of your mines next to the blue one. When it moves it will run them over, get blown up and drop the key which you can then collect ending the battle in about 30 seconds.
In my exp, you only needed to drop about half your mines. The explosions would all go off nearly at once, and you'd see the HP drain to zero
Trivia Time:
Teasel (The guy in the green armor) is Tron's and Bon's Older Brother, not their dad.
Bon Bonne has the same voice actress as Pikachu (Ikue_Ōtani).
You can kick dogs in the Japanese version
Auto-lockon is a bad setting to have (you can change it) since you can't move while locked-on, Legends 2 changes this.
If you take too long to save City Hall the Mayor's office is a mess
You can shoot the reporter flying around City Hall (This I believe counts as an evil deed towards Black Armor).
Don't forget to check ALL the Trash Cans
BTW Jared, since you're playing Megaman Legends, you should play Skies of Arcadia Legends !!
I played this on the N64. It was called Megaman 64. I didn't know it was called "Megaman Legends" for a long time lol Loved this game
And did you know this game had a sequel (Mega Man Legends 2, not available on N64) and a prequel (The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, only on PS1)? ;)
@@ThunderDragonRandy Nintendo really was addicted to adding 64 to everything. I immensely disliked the name change
Please give this game a full Playthrough, this game deserves way more exposure!
Max energy is fun to have. Non-stop buster shots!
Max Energy and Range are the best things to get in this. though having max Attack helps as well. Unfortunately, you can only get 1 stat maxed out at any given time, even with all 3 plug-ins...
Jared's remarks about Tron Bonne being hot all make sense now
Please, Jared. Do a full playthrough, and Megaman Legends 2 next, maybe Misadventures of Tron Bonne after. So good, and kinda underrated, games
That fucking music when your shopping in the city. So much nostalgia.
Full playthrough would be amazing! I loved this series as a kid, and getting to see Jared and Miss Editor go through it would be fantastic!
I love how the facial textures aren't just universally slapped on. They've applied specific textures based on specific angles to give a greater appearance of actual depth and detail. It helps the faces seem less flat and cardboardy... which is an accomplishment on the PS1
9:44 i wouldve said to tron “unless it involves me wearing a tri-corn hat, armed with a cutless and a bottle of rum. then i’m sorry sweetheart pirates life ain’t for me”
I like it when ProJared saves the game while recording because of the eventual power outage or technology error that may occur such as disc read errors, or whatever. I also advocate that he really REALLY should have backup save files (alternate secondary and thirdly) save files in case any recorded footage is randomly lost in between episodes. It's just common sense.
There's also the possibility of losing all progress due to getting a game over in a series of boss battles or tough areas, saving is the appropriate adult choice, responsibility.
I remember playing this game with my cousin when he stayed over during the summer. Also, if you treat Roll bad, destroy soda machines, kick trash cans over, and kick cats and dogs, your armor turns dark. I remember my cousin saying that Dark Armor makes you stronger, but what I've read it doesn't. It also ruins your reputation.
I remember seeing that all the buildings can blow up in both boss fights. If you let city hall get wrecked, it's an automatic game over too. You can explore and examine buildings later for various items and sidequests, but if they do get blown up, there's a donation thing to rebuild it all. Essentially, you save money for game completion.
It's also worth noting you can blow them up as Megaman to get dark points. It's extremely time consuming to do so, but you totally can.
Tips for ya, Jared:
- Kick trash cans because you might find money or junk to make new weapons
- Revisit old areas after obtaining new parts
- Fully explore the mines (look for holes in the walls, go down every path, etc.)
These may be time consuming, but they give you some real good equipment for the tougher fights.
Fun fact: All the buildings in both areas of the fights in this episode can be broken to various degrees. I dunno if town hall can actually be destroyed but as a kid I get it to the point where it was on fire and had huge cracks and broken windows and stuff. Roll even says, "Mission... complete...?" if you do. The more damage there is overall in each area, the higher the cost to fix it later on too.
I'm surprised Jared did all that on his first try. I failed to protect the city on my first few tries.
TDPNeji seriously lol even replaying the game i have to try at least twice usually. Now i really cant wait for the lake battle...
Especially without figuring out that he could just drop the mines directly on the robots.
you technically don't need to protect the city on your first go around. If you fail it just moves you onto fighting Bon Bonne.
That being said you are gonna have a hefty repair bill later on though :P
#001 Yeah protecting the city wasn't too hard (Always have range equipped). But dear god was Pikachu-Bonne a pain to beat! Took me 3 tries because of those stupid missles!
Especially given how bad he is at the game...
Man, this is making me nostalgic to see all the graphical tricks, and revisit all the colorful locations.
I played this on the N64, and it filled my little imagination with all sorts of possibilities. It felt a lot bigger of a world than the game actually was, and with how colorful the settings and characters were, it's hard not to feel warmly toward this (wonky tank controls aside)!
Please continue Jared! And play Legends 2 and Missadventures of Tron Bonne! All great games.
"In a world covered by endless water..."
I love this game! I'm very genuinely surprised you didn't fail the city hall mission. I think it's one of the harder missions in the game. Good job!
that reporter at the end, 10/10
Miss Editor, Roll and Tron are supposed to 14 years old. Megaman's age in unknown, he was found by professor Barrel 10 before the events of this game. Also, Tron refers to the servbots as her children, since she made them.
I love this game. It has flaws, the controls being an obvious one, but through all of it's flaws I still go back to this game again and again. I hold this game very dear to my heart. You could say this game is what made me a gamer in the first place. Just through all the discovery, adventure, and characters. I was so sad when Legends 3 was cancelled. I really hope Capcom can bring it upon themselves to revive it someday.
I would definitely like to see more of this Jared!
I haven't ever played Legends except with the originals and X series.
You're having a good time and so am I, it's nice to have something different.
I would like to see Legends 2 as well but in the mean time, I am hooked with this!
Capcom should seriously do Mega Man Legends Legacy Collection next!
Yeah if the part you were talking about during the Tron fight is what I think it is, yeah it's in MML2
This is great! I want to see it to the end!
Wow, this is actually really charming. The animation they had for Tron Bonne looked really nice, and the voices are growing on me.
I would absolutely love a full play through of this game!! Please keep the series going until the end!!
Full playthrough! PLEASE!!
I freakin love this game and the ending is super super cool
Lock-on in Legends 2 is godly
8:58 And thus begins possibly the best track in the game; I wish i could find an extended version of this song.
I have played the whole game and I enjoyed it a lot. I would absolutely love to see a full playthrough of this game!!!
Has Miss Editor not seen this game? Well she's in for a treat!
I think we can all agree 3:35 is what we're all here for. Also, this was one of my favorite games as a kid. I'd love to see a whole series so I can show it off to my partner, who never played it much.
That music during the town section is such good nostalgia.
Love this. I remember playing this on N64. I even remember a lot of the weapons. Also, there is a funny little bit that happens when you go into Roll's room. I don't remember how to trigger it, but it's chuckle-worthy.
I may have to fire this up and play along.
Ahh, a trip down the nostalgic and campy Megaman Legends. I hope you keep this going to the end, it's fun to watch
this game needs a remake so bad......id gladly give full retail for a pollished up remake of this
I can see it now. "Mega Man Legends: Controllable Edition." Because much as I love the game, the controls have aged horrendously.
Black armor opportunities in this episode include kicking the vending machine for free soda (especially until the machine explodes) and buying all available range upgrades so you can damage the news ship during the city hall battle.
Tron Bonne: “It’s not like I like you or anything...baka”
I adore the way the pixels scale in this graphics engine, someone at a distance just looks like an 8bit version of themselves.. then a 16bit version.. it actually works out
The voice acting is actually really good for its time and I quite enjoy the characters' facial expressions. I wanna watch you play more.
Things that I love about this game series: The characters and story. However, I absolutely hated the controls so after completing the first one I never picked it up again or the sequel. I don't think that I could bring myself to play it again, but I would love to experience it again with Projared at the helm.
God the nostalgia is hitting me so damn hard...
Also I just remembered why I loved this game so much when I was younger ;)
Full playthrough no doubt, this and Yoshi's crafted world are making my days so much better.
I remember MML being fun to play, I didn't remember it was so charming (or more likely didn't care at the age I was playing it). I'm down to watch this series as long as it runs and may go play it again myself.
Not sure if someone else told you this already but there's a trick for rapid fire. Keep rapid tapping the forward button and then fire. Like Forward > Fire > Forward > Fire very fast. You can save on the parts for rapid fire until you get the better buster parts and do heavy deeps :D Also PLEASE full playthrough!
This is actually one of the few Mega Man games I haven't played, so it's interesting to watch you play through it.
Jared trying to get money costs him more in the long run...
Anyone who has played this before knows what I am talking about.
Please make this a full series! I played this game back when it first came out, so it's bringing back a lot of fun memories.
I'm enjoying this quite a bit, i would love a full playthrough :D
Dragonsbeard how do you feel now
You wanna head to where the Tron Bonne fight was and check the trashcans. You can get the machine gun there. It's a really good weapon for up to mid/late game, and is cheap to upgrade. just don't upgrade the "Special" stat, as it causes it's bullets to spread to a wider cone.
Please complete it Jared, this game is so lovely and i think it really deserves to be seen by many more new people.
I got this as my first game 20 years ago and was sad because i didnt like video games at the time. But after these Bonne fights i was hooked for life
Those cars at the end, he was so low on HP, my heart kept jumping.... just get off the road!
My favorite part about the "Defend city hall" mission is if you let everywhere get destroyed, the game will say MISSION COMPLETE in a questioning, doubtful tone instead of a triumphant one.
Can't get over how great the face textures look for PS1 era. Especially when you compare them to FFX and KH's "sticker face" look despite being on PS2.
Dude, a full playthrough would be sick!
I need a full play-through of this. I have always wanted to see more of this game
So far, this game is so much more charming than I thought it could be. I finally understand why people like it.
Saving City Hall Portion with Jared not locking on at the flying bots.
SOGE KING: LOOOOOOOOOCK OOOOOOOOON~
I'd love to not only see a full playthrough, but see him play the series (Legends, Missadventures of Tron Bonne, and Legends 2)
Tron is my second favorite character in this game. A *very* close second to Teisel.
As for her referring to the Servbots as her "kids"... she *is* the one who created them, so in a sense she really is their "mother".
I think the internet is lying to me. Tron Bonne is definitely played by the actor that did Misty.
I was literally just thinking how I was getting Misty vibes hearing her yell at MegaMan before scrolling down and seeing this. Glad it's not just me. Haha.
Oh boy, I remember this game, Check every nook and cranny, trash cans, holes in the walls etc....no seriously you can find things that way. Be sure to check in with Roll for more weapons, (not sure but I think you could of had missiles at this point?) Also...be sure to check in with the mayor to fix up the town....yeah...that's a thing...probably would have helped to be better at fighting but there you go.
best part of the video
Jared: "oh look at that picture of a young tronne bonne in the background with her mother, I never noticed that before..." *game immediately does a close of the picture a second later*
16:20 "I just cleaned up this mess, can we keep it clean for ten minutes!!!"
Jared, if you end up seeing this, you should go look at the magazines. There's a "special" one.
Shhhhhh! Megaman isn't allowed to look at that!
I always called this the first Cel Shaded game
Man I remember all the buildings were destroyed in one of my play through
Oh! Jared, if you ever get to Misadventures of Tron Bonne and Megaman legends 2, I recommend you play Misadventures of Tron Bonne after this, THEN 2. 2 Has much better improved Controls, where as MOTB has a very similar control scheme to 1 because of the lack of dualshock limitation of the time. If you play them in the order of the first 1, then MOTB, then 2, you'll eventually have the best controls by the end instead of going to the best controls then back again! Also, its great to learn what the Bonne family did before they arrived at Katellox, and its just a overall fantastic fun and charming game. Hope this helps!
Said this last episode, but it bears repeating. This game takes place over 4,000 years after the Classic series and, as revealed by the ZX series, humanity doesn't exist anymore. They fused with Reploids to become Humanoids, who eventually evolved into the species seen in these games.
So, yea, Dr. Light is the reason humanity goes extinct.
Yeah, I'm really digging this. The way Jared describes the controls make me think it probably needs a remake, but I'm still hoping to see more.
This episode reminded me of just how much trouble some of those missions gave me as a kid. But man do I still love this game, and I would love to see you play more. Also the lack of closing parenthesis in the dialogue boxes bothers me far more than it should.
"And I won't let any blue guy get in my way either" You sure about that one ? He took out 3 tanks, 2 air carriers and a dozen bulldozers by himself. Plus he is still using low level equipment.
