Игра Султанова никого не оставляет равнодушным к фортепианной музыке, невероятное сочетание совершенной техники и мощной эмоциональности в исполнении. Thank you, harmony 14447 and other channels for posting videos with him, it's so valuable, after listening his playing one wants to get known this man closer and to breath same air with him. i've bought couple of cd's to be able to listen from big boxes so that music fills up all around me but I can't get enough from listening...

I so miss this gifted, talented young man, not only was he a genius at the piano, but learned English beautifully. Alexei is a one of a kind genius pianist, he was all about the music and could explain it so well and his playing was magnificent. His colleagues praised him and the world knew he was a treasure, the world of classical music lost a bright light, when i go on you tube and see him it brings tears to my eyes the honesty, beauty, knowledge and genuine humility. He and Horowitz are in heaven playing for their maker and the angels, may this darling, gifted, gallant classical music treasure rest in peace. We will always remember you dearest Alexei.
Maestro Aliosha Alexei Sultanov was a genius and a prophet of music . So sad that he passed away so early. He played on the very same level like Horowitz, Rubinstein, Richter, Gilles or Bendetti-Michelangeli. R.I.P. and slumber on maestro Sultanov! Let the angels sing in heaven for you!
Man, I wish there was a recording of that jam session with George Duke. He always talked about playing jazz but there don't seem to be any recordings of it.
A sad ending to his life of great promise. In 1996 he had his first stroke, and despite his refusal was convinced by his wife Dace Abele to visit Ed Kramer, a neurologist. Kramer checked on him and discovered some small black spots which proved to him that blood clots had formed in the brain. Despite the stroke he continued his performance in Tokyo, but there he suffered another stroke. After that the same neurologist diagnosed him with diastolic heart failure. In February 2001, he had another stroke. The strokes damaged everything except the cerebral cortex and he was able to continue performing[3] while sitting in a wheelchair. On June 30, 2005, at 4:30 a.m., he suffocated following a stroke. He died at the age of 35 in Fort Worth
@@aleksandrpotak9007 wowww :( :( :( so so so so sad. SO many strokes on such a brilliant mind. He's playing is so fiery and perfect. This world is at a loss without him

This interview obviously made during Alexei' visit to Finland performing the Prokofiev concerto under discussion. He is obviously an intelligent person, not just a virtuoso and he has learned English far better than his idol Horowitz, who despite his greatness at the piano has never managed to master the language despite his many years in New York.
@@MathieuPrevot he climbed on the roof to hear Horowitz play with other students, 1 young girl slipped and he grabbed her hand to save her...Dace whom he married eventually.
Small in stature, but a giant musician, Alexei although a Russian, was an American at heart. He became an American citizen, as he was dying slowly. His premature death was a great loss to the musical world. Notice that as many Russians who learn American English at a mature age, he has no foreign accent, and sounds almost like a native American.
No, he plays as a Russian only as a born and bred Russian can. That very Russian intensity of emotion. He didn't speak a word of English when he won the Van Cliburn competition

PART 1 I think Stephen is right in saying that Sultanov "sounds almost like a native American". In this interview he has a slight accent but it is really slight. Grammatically, he speaks far better English than many educated native speakers. It is clear that he went through an extremely intensive learning process. There is nothing in his accent that is recognizably Russian. As a matter of fact, his accent is infinitely closer to the American mainstream than that of the lady interviewing him.
Agreed, he was a committed, passionate and larger than life musical spirit. But you are absolutely incorrect to say he had no foreign accent; obviously, American English is not your native tongue. On the contrary, Sultanov had a rather pronounced accent, if not quite so thick as other Russians, and he had a charming way of speaking, too. And by no means did he even remotely sound like a native American. Had he lived longer his accent would have peeled away substantially, if not completely.
Каким талантливым и разносторонним был Алексей, в голове не укладывается как он много сделал за свою короткую жизнь.
