Breathtaking.......thank you...I have watched it a few times and will again....

The thing that strikes me most--aside from the incredible beauty of this town--is that it was built for HUMANS, the whole place is filled with little plazas, benches, cafes and fountains. I love so much the invitation to sit for a while, contemplate the gorgeous countryside & the town itself, spend some time chatting with a friendly neighbor, have a glass of wine and just reflect. Wish all towns were laid out in similar ways--to encourage people to walk, breathe, smile and enjoy the company of other happy people. Italy is gorgeous, hope they can manage to preserve their wonderful culture & history.
What a jewel of historic medieval town. My kind of tourist attraction, loved that people actually live there too, the authenticity of it. Went to one in the south of France, much smaller village, nor was it built on a hilltop fortress, nor surrounded by an amazing 16th century aqueduct, the other town looked like a movie set, too restored and perfect to make it a tourist attraction, it was only restaurants and art gallerias, the streets and building even looked like they were shellacked. This was picturesque but that location, on the hilltop and THE VIEW of one of the most gorgeous areas I've yet to see. After this video I plan to visit not only for the town but the travel to get there would be worth it for the scenery alone.
Italy is really full of these locations. There are surprisingly several towns that look similar to this. I agree though, it is much more interesting when the streets are left in their natural state.
I am super thrilled that I found your RUclips channel! I have been recovering from surgery the past few months and have very limited mobility presently. I feel like I was able to actually take a vacation this year now by watching several of your posts. It has also helped me escape mentally ... from being restricted to my home!
This is beautifully filmed. I have been fortunate enough to visit Pitigliano. I especially appreciate your historic captions, and also the way you pause to look at archways leading into small courtyards and other visual gems. Thanks very much!
Thank you so much for these beautiful videos. I am no longer able to travel, am home-bound, in fact, but thanks to videos like this, I am still able to see the world! (And also, thank you for NOT adding a soundtrack.)
Hey thanks Mel, I need to go back on a busier day. They just had their Saints day a few weeks ago. I was there with my family but didn't get a chance to film.
One of my favorite places in Italy. I stumbled across it several years ago, and revisited it seven years later. No noticeable changes. Totally off the tourist track! The sight of the town that suddenly greets you as you turn a corner in the road is breathtaking--almost literally. There are dozens of Etruscan "caves" below the town, these huge walkway type slots cut in the stone that lead downhill toward the small river where there are still some very small farms. Nobody knows for certain why the Etruscans built them, but it's pretty cool to wander down one of them while admiring the tool marks in the stone from 3K years ago, or so.
Now that the weather here is too cold to walk outside, it's back to the treadmill. The transition was not so bad because of your gorgeous new video to watch! Thanks so much!!
Thank you for showing Pitigliano. Its the town where I grew up. Although I left long ago, I have gone back many times. Pitigliano will always be in my heart. It is such a beautiful little town !!!! Grazie mille !!!!
Increíble ese pueblo tan antiguo y birn conservado!!! Me encantó que tuvieran plantas y macetas con flores!!!! Todo cuidado y limpio. Felicitaciones Pitigliano!!!! Sds desde 🇺🇾
I lived for several years in Paris ,I haven`t time to visit Italy properly and now is too far from my possibilities... so I appreciate so much this vid, Thank you Prowalk, you are doing an amazing job¡¡¡And I also enjoy the captions, the history of each place
This is awesomely beautiful video, the toughest one too, by you. It has a captivating spell on the viewer to keep going with you. One feels equally tired in the end like an actual walker. that is the beauty of it and this video is worth revisiting again n again at intervals. Thanks for the hard work. I enjoyed English talking in the background while roaming in this Italian town. Stay blessed !
Thanks always for bringing us this unusual places. What makes it different is that, although it's on the hill top, it's flat and you can basically walk anywhere. Look at all the cars for driving not a problem. It amazing all these Italian city have some uniqueness to themselves.
Edda Servi Machlin, author of The Classic Cuisine of the Italian Jews, died recently at the age of 91. Machlin was born and raised in Pitigliano. Pitigliano had a large Jewish community, at times almost half the population, maybe even more. Pitigliano was almost the Italian equivalent of an Eastern European shtetl. Yes the Holocaust took place here too. The Germans deported Pitigliano Jews to points east where they were murdered. I think there's only a handful of Jews still living in Pitigliano, but it does get many Jewish visitors.
Certainly enjoyed this walk, what a fabulous place, but you sure need to be fit to live there with all those steps. Thank you for such an interesting video, and I love your captions.
Borghi del Medioevo ! Pericolosamente arroccati in cima ad una montagna ! Era molto scomodo raggiungerli e abitarci ! Ora sono tutti abbandonati ! Posti fantastici per chi ama l’avventura !
I want to buy property in Pitigliano, so THANK YOU for this video, it has been so helpful in my decision making! If anyone is selling in the area...message me (seriously)!!
The history of this place is magnificent. Have been a place of dramatic history. People who were persecuted, people of different faith, Cristians at one time, jewish people in the medieval times created a community here when they were persecuted. There is a museum where you can actually see how they were living, created their own bath house, winery, bakery...all in an enclosed community within Pitigliano. Latest was during the world war II, when the jewish were hiding from the Nazis...
Breathtaking.......thank you...I have watched it a few times and will again....

I was there in May of 2019 for a couple of weeks. A friend of mine lives here. An amazing place and the whole area surrounding it.
Yeah, I really enjoy the entire area there. So much fun to explore!

Yes!! Much better without the awful music remnants.
So many doors everywhere in the little alleys. Love those little quaint stair steps going up the side of the building. Great video.
