Wow Thanks alot! I remember requested you to review this product. I know chinese and all, and watched all chinese reviews. But Techtablets always bring global user point of view~ its always nice to see the real life experiences of the products
I bought the Ryzen version for a relative and on first impression it performs well. One thing to note is that the OLED screen kind of has those purple/green colour fringe artifacts that look similar to older generation OLED mobile phone displays. The edge of a white lit "pixel" like on text can sometimes look green/purple against a black background. Otherwise the brightness/contrast and resolution of the screen are great. You will notice this the most on straight lines like a taskbar, the edge of a window or even just a rectangular button. For this reason alone you may want to opt for the LCD version (Redmibook pro), but I think if it's for someone who isn't that picky and just wants a "dramatic" looking screen then the OLED version may be the one for you. I don't know if I'm just overly sensitive to it because I wear glasses and I'm short sighted, but I hope it prevents someone else out there from making a mistake. And let's be honest, the places you're buying this laptop from wont have excellent customer service, so realistically there's no returning this once you get it.
curious as to how you feel about the screen now after all these months? I'm looking for a portable media consumption device (mainly for 4K HDR movie remuxes) and it has to be OLED. I am currently debating as to whether I should buy this Mi laptop or just a Galaxy Tab S7+/S8+ - they're about the same price. Pro for the Mi Notebook 15 Pro is that it's larger (15 Inch) and has a higher resolution but I feel like the OLED panel itself might be worse than the Samsung tablet's one.. With Android I feel like the whole experience might be better compared to Windows when it comes to streaming from a Plex server and the whole HDR implentation. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the review! It's super cool for me that screen is glossy, just a pleasure for eyes. But highly doubt about OLED in terms of burn in. Some OS UI elements will be static for hours and hours. Have you had experience with other laptop oled screens in a long run?
The Chinese version of the Pro model does have an OLED screen. All models for the Indian market have LCD screens. The laptop in this video is, as mentioned in the beginning, an imported model from China, via Tradingshenzhen. So, it's an OLED screen.
Maybe because you're hard of hearing so the sheer volume helps but there's definitely too much gain and that would pick up all kinds of background sounds that would make it hard to hear the voice of the person talking (he's in a quiet environment).
Haha well it would pic up a lot of background sounds. I have my own mics turned down to remove or try to remove the fan noise of the laptop and my tower PC doing the screen capture.

Regarding Linux support: I just tested Ubuntu / Kubuntu and with disabled secure boot and kernel 5.13 RC2 everything works (except fingerprint). Please note that you need at least kernel 5.12 for OLED brightness changes and 5.13 to fix some issues with the used chipsets (at least with 5.12 it was overheating quickly). Untill now I can recommend the device, although the screen is quite reflective and the webcam is really bad.

The thermal throttling is probably a general issue thats hard to manage since Intel is trying to squeeze higher and higher clock speeds out of these things. It's 10nm but still a big heat machine compated to a Ryzen of the same TDP.
