Q) Should reality be accepted over ideal? Yes, but as we know that there is no concept of absolute evil or absolute good. We must strive to find the good in evil and avoid the evil in good things.
Q) It is better to be feared or loved? It is better to be loved. Machiavelli stated that love is temporary and fear is permanent whereas the reality is totally opposite. I personally believe that fear is temporary, and it ends with the death of that tyrant, wheras love is permenant and eternal that even if the person dies, their love and respect remains there and are transferred into generations.
Q) Are Machiavellian Principles acceptable? Allama Iqbal characterized him as "Sharp Agent of Evil" because of his views that justifies violence and cruelty. And in his book he taught a leader to be double faced and have double standards. But we may take few good things from his ideology like: a leader should strive hard to maintain the stability and preservation of state.
Thank you so much sir for this effort. Here are my reviews: Q) What is the basi of Machiavellian thought? The circumstances of Italy at the time of Machiavelli and the problem he faced, that because of Medici family his career was vicissituded.
Q) Is mankind inherently evil? No, it is the society / state which urges him to be evil. In this book, Machiavelli has overestimated human nature. Human nature is a mixture of good and bad qualities. As Qur'an says : فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَا then inspired it with its (instincts of) evil and piety, -Surah Ash-Shams, Ayah 8
Great review 👍

Here are my reviews:
Q) What is the basi of Machiavellian thought?
The circumstances of Italy at the time of Machiavelli and the problem he faced, that because of Medici family his career was vicissituded.
Very good again.
Q) Is mankind inherently evil?
No, it is the society / state which urges him to be evil.
In this book, Machiavelli has overestimated human nature.
Human nature is a mixture of good and bad qualities. As Qur'an says :
فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَا
then inspired it with its (instincts of) evil and piety,
-Surah Ash-Shams, Ayah 8
Again good analysis
