    I've been making tree skirts for many years. I have used fabric I quilted myself or Christmas Fabric I've bought from Joanns. This is a really easy video to follow. You have done a fabulous job explaining the entire process! I posted it on my Facebook page because it's just that good!

    Excellent method to determine a half circle. I think I will use the lines as an anchor and then use the pencil and string for the curve, that makes it even easier. Thank you for another great tutorial.

    An easier way to make that big semicircle, is to tie a long string to a pencil. Put the tip of the pencil at the end of the line of the left. Firmly hold the string at the exact center, where all three lines meet. You now have a radius. While holding the string firmly at the center, keep it taut, and draw a semicircle all the way around.

    This is fantastic! I love that you taught us how to make the pattern rather than just pointing us to a pattern. I wanted to make it out of different fabrics (8 sections with 4 different fabrics) and I couldn't find a pattern than did exactly what I wanted. Thanks so much!

    I just made this tree skirt today and it was so easy! I'm not a total novice but have never made anything more complicated than pillowcases and unlined curtains. It took me about 3 hours including making the pattern. I can't wait to try more of your tutorials!

    Every time I see your videos I can't stop looking at you hands and your pretty nails!💅😂 they look perfect!👌 and your sewing videos are great! Thank you for teaching us how to sew cool stuff! My mother was a seamstress but I only know the basics of how to use the sewing machine! but I have troubles to keep a perfect straight line!😖 I get so frustrated because I really enjoy sewing! It's so relaxing and gives you pride when you accomplish a task! Thank you!

      I wouldn't stress about your seams not being perfect. It just takes practice and it'll get easier the more you do it. Don't give up! :D

    I never understand why people make this more difficult than it has to be. There are much easier and accurate eays to cut out the fabric and batting.

    Since you top stitch the entire skirt, I think you could skip hand sewing it closed.

    Does the basting spray hold the batting in place permanently? I always thought these sprays were temporary and that some sort of quilting was needed to secure all the layers

    I don't understand the 3-4 yds of ribbon if you only need 4 pieces @ 15" each. Wouldn't you just need 60"? Also do you know how much trim you will need if you're going to use trim? Loved your video as it's very detailed and easy to understand. THANKS!!

    I use an artificial tree and I was wondering if there is a way to make this without the slit so that I can just put it over my stand and insert the bottom section of my tree. I realize that there needs to be a way to turn it right side out, but could that be done by not sewing the small center hole and then closing that up afterwards?

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  5 лет назад

      yup, you sew the seam to get a completed circle and then leave an opening on the outer curve to turn the whole thing right side out.

      +Xayla V It's a nail wrap from Essie. I found it at the dollar tree so I don't know if that means it's one of their discontinued wraps.

    I want to make a larger tree skirt, but fabric is only 45" width. Would I have to sew pieces together or is there another way? Also. What would the measurements be for an xlarge skirt? Any idea?

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  5 лет назад

      You can just do it with more seams so make your pattern smaller and cut out more pieces

  • @debbielaudone7626

    So, you don’t snip the excess, on the inside, since it’s a curve?

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  3 года назад +2

      You can if you want. I don't have any problems with mine but maybe because the curve is so large.
