i get that you clap if the landing was difficult and it ended up being fine, but if its just normal landing with no difficulties its weird. its your job to know how to do it, nobody claps me when they receive good customer service from me lol.

It's called Devil's Peak because of an old story told in South Africa, where the clouds are forming on top of the mountain is where a devil lives on the mountain and sit and smokes all day. That is why you can't see the peak. (Figurative meaning - clouds = the devil's smoke)

word of advice: never clap when your plane lands. pilots get really offended by it as it suggests that those clapping expected the plane to crash. they are just doing their job. you wouldnt clap when a waitress brings you food and you wouldnt clap when a taxi driver drops you off somewhere. so why clap when a plane lands? baring in mind that it's more likely the taxi would crash than the plane would.
