@Thet not sure if you're familiar with the hip-hop classics but here's some that get regular play in my ride.... Tribe Called Quest: "Midnight Mauraders" "Low End Theory" Gang Starr: Moment of Truth Wu-Tang: The first two albums
Gang Starr Wu-Tang De La Soul The Pharcyde Tribe Called Quest NWA EPMD Leaders Of The New School Mobb Deep Eric B & Rakim KRS ONE ........and the list goes on.
You guys should listen to "I Wish" by Skee-Lo, as it's thematically similar to "Passing Me By," but funnier. As for jazz rap, I know you've listened to "Cool Like Dat" by Digable Planets already, but you should also check out "Where I'm From" by the group, and make sure you watch the video for it, not just a link with the song. Hmm... and here's a classic song where Butterfly from Digable Planets is a featured performer... "Luchini AKA This Is It" by Camp Lo. (Again, make sure you watch the video.) I think you guys will lose it when you hear that one.
Now we're talkin!! Please go down the rabbit hole of 90s hip hop, not the big mainstream tracks, but songs like these. For more Pharcyde, listen to 'Drop' or 'Runnin'. Also get into A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Digable Planets, The Roots, Souls of Mischief, Das EFX, The Fugees, Redman, Common, etc.
The Pharcyde R Classic Iconic Lyricists!!!! They have a lot of hits n da ‘90’s and this iz one of ‘em!!! Like: u guys gotta react to “Drop” Produced by J.Dilla!!! legend of Motor City 🌃
The entire album Bizarre ride to the Pharcyde is just that a creative original trip of hip hop unlike any other hip hop album. A true gem and all time classic.
My first time hearing them too! Of course in the 90s, I was going to Jr. College, worked nights for a year and returned to the University for 3 additional years, graduated. Then went to 3 different states to work. I was busy working and moving. I missed them. I always wonder how many others I missed.
These boys weren't raised right Thank God I introduced my son to the glorious era of 90's hip hop when he was a toddler. The moment when he rapped along to Boyz in the Hood by NWA at 8 years old, was the proudest of my life.
Watching these two young men listen to pharcyde and see their reactions is very refreshing. It shows me that they will understand what hip hop and hopefully change the course of music because the current course of music is not good.
90's hip-hop is gold! BROS....KEEP DIGGIN IN THE CRATES FOR HIP-HOP FROM THIS ERA. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED.

We won't talk about return of the b boy 😂
Otherwise it's a perfect album
Fatlip from The Pharcyde is one of the most unique from that era. His solo stuff is great.
Word
Y'all still need to listen to " Me myself and I" by De La Soul.
Yes!!! And Can I Kick It by Tribe Called Quest
Yes! People are still sleeping on De La Soul.

I MISS these days, lyricists were EVERYWHERE and they were ALL dope as hell!!! 🥴🙌🏾🙌🏾

Yup, you had to be a lyricist just to be on the scene. I guess it’s like they say, all good things must come to an end.😔 …glad I was there for it.

Pharcyde were brilliant. 90s Hip Hop was brilliant. I miss it. Another Great Pharcyde song is Otha Fish
Their other most essential track is Runnin'. Another classic
I actually think that one is better, better lyrics...better flow

Produced by the GOAT, the one and only: J. Dilla !
Late 80s to early 90s was the best time for rap/hip hop.
Ahem. MID-80's onward.
After all, Run DMC's "Peter Piper" was mid-80's.
"She keeps on PASS-ing, me byyyy.."
BIG CHUNE!!
I love their song "Runnin"
The lyrics "my dear, my dear, my dear you do not know me very well" were sampled by Joe in the song "Stutter."
"Humpty dance" by Digital Underground and
"You Get what You Give" by Young Radicals 👍😉
Love you guys 💓
RIP shock G.
Digital Underground helped out a young 2Pac. When he was first starting out.
