I love the Bedford TK I learned to drive in a tk while delivering coal and I took my driving test in the tk because I didn’t have a car I passed on the second attempt the examiners face when he ask me where my car was and I pointed to my yellow tk was a picture I’ve driven some fantastic lorries since but will always remember my days driving the tk it was the most basic lorry it didn’t even have a heater. But I loved it happy days Simpler days
In 1986 the first real truck that I drove after, Bay window Volkswagen Transporter, MK2 Ford Transits (petrol and diesel)and Fiat and Iveco Dailys was a 1976 Bedford TK 1020 derated to 7.5 tons. Up high, great view, a half turn of play in the big steering wheel, good brakes and great headlamps. No radio (wouldn't have heard it anyway), heater was ok but the draft coming up your leg from the floor mounted pedals could be icy. Maxed out at 45 mph or possibly 52/53 mph on a emotorway. Loved it. Moved on to a 1984 Ford Cargo 0811 Which was a great lorry but you never forget your first.
hi, bedford rl 4x4 is the one for me,had them in 1967 in the cadet force, a wonderful truck and a lovely design, looks the part unlike to days rubbish with one piece screens, happy memories of the 60s when lorries were lorries and not girlie motors
Really enyoy your program-am in Aust._have had many many interesting and now rare old English cars-favourites are from 50's. Did you know Bedford trucks briefly had a Aust. Holden 253 V8 for a short period ?
A good selection of commercial vehicles there well done, If you could supply your contact details I have one or two photos of commercial vehicles. Including some that I use to drive in the 60's & 70's
Hi I don't know my Bedfords too well (many different models and variations), but the one you're looking at might be a K-Series (similar in style to the O-Series)
Brilliant, I never drove anything apart from Bedford TK's during my 17 years as a house delivery coal man, back when every house in the country had coal fires, running out of the coal rea with 120+bags,6 ton on the 3 1\2 ton Bedford, well over weight, but it went off the lorries quick enough so that when the weights and measures men ambushed us as they usually did the weight was back to legal or under weight, some of the weights and measures men thought they were under cover commandos, but we were flyer haha .
Not one Bedford Brava? Too rare probably as most are now in Egypt being appreciated for their ruggedness, only a tiny few still in UK. It was the last of the Bedfords.
I was mainly focusing on the earlier Bedfords, I doubt I've ever seen a Brava at a show so it may well be that I don't have a photo of one to use anyway!! Thanks for checking out this vid.

Handled all the spares for Bedford trucks as worked for Vauxhall Motors for 40+ years, great memories, thanks.
Glad the photo collection was of interest to you
Thanks for that selection of classic Bedfords. It took me back to the mid 70s when my dad bought a 1971 Bedford CF "Contessa" motor caravan.
My late Dad drove quite a few Bedfords, ones I can remember going was the RL TK and MK
Plus the HA can and CA
I was a coach painter back in the day, good times!

Thanks for posting, I really enjoyed it. Brought back many memories of the time I worked at a Vauxhall/Bedford dealer in Sheffield during 70/80's
Oh I do love a Bedford CA!
Early ones especially, with the split screen 👍
@@oldclassiccarUK Yes, the very last image was an absolute beauty!
I had a green ca in New Zealand
Wish I still had it , I had a yellow strip put on it

Worked on all those back in the day! As an apprentice an mechanic proper stuff .
Best light -middle weight lorries ever built
Very nice - thanks.

Very good, but where was the commentary?Missed that!
The world of Bedford model names is quite the minefield when you get down to the details, and not one I could ever hope to navigate successfully!!
Very useful photos... however, could anybody tell me the type of the "Fish and Chip Van" at 3:45 (year etc... ) Many thanks in advance! :)

I'm afraid that these are just photographs when they don't have any description added in voice-over.
