The Odyssey: Home from War

Between fighting in the Trojan War and then making his long way home, Odysseus is away from for 20 years. That time leave serious marks on him, as he is forced to lead a desperate, violent, and harsh existence for most of it. Homer was telling a very universal story about soldiers of any era, who are asked (or forced) to go fight and then left to figure out how to put it all behind them on their own.
