    Johns weight loss has also improved his game. People think snooker players don’t need to be fit and they are right but a decent level of fitness certainly helps. And maintaining a healthy weight certainly makes it easier getting down on every shot. Yes I know people are gonna be saying Stephen Lee had a rolls Royce cue action and he’s huge but could you imagine how good he’d of been if he was fit?

    Great video, I would love to see a breakdown of Alex Higgins cue action but I got a feeling there's to much going on in that 🤣

    Interesting perspective on John Higgins' technique what with his less than average height (a problem I too had to find and use methods to overcome). Excellent series!! Peter from Montreal, Canada

      I hate playing my taller friends at snooker. Seems I'm having to use the rest a lot more than them, but to be fair they all Tower over 6ft and seem to be jealous of how good I am with the rest.

    He's become one of my favourite players.
    Such a great cue action.
    Similar to Steve Davis, in that they both push their cue through quite slowly.
    Next player - Paul Hunter. Please.

    John has definitely made is action more compact over the years, which I've also tried to do. When you get it right and your timing is good it really helps but it can mean you lose speed and spin if you're not hitting the ball sweetly that day.

    What u r saying is there is a fine line and a thin margin between success and failure at the top, only magnified by the microscopic analysis which you do so well.

    I've been waiting for this video for such a long time. EDIT: After watching this, I am slightly disappointed that you didn't mention his swing - he always seem to swing backwards and forwards and then right before he hits the cue ball, he makes 2 or 3 very small swings before making the shots. I don't know, I just thought that's interesting, cause I've noticed only John does it.
    Still, 10/10 video as always, extremely interesting! Thank you for making these videos!

    • @stuartaberdeen
      @stuartaberdeen 3 года назад +2

      Yes - I was thinking the exact same. He has a very distinct way of feathering before his shot, it seems to me an important part of steadying himself/lining up

    • @eagleeyes6642
      @eagleeyes6642 3 года назад +1

      Correct and that two small feathers at the end keep his backswing consistent and it avoids jerking or pulling the cue back to fast because he does it on every single shot👍

    question: Scenario: 1 pot away from snookers required and on for a 147. Tricky black or easy pink available. Is it legal for the opponent to say -"don't worry i'll concede if you miss the black"? lets you go for a maximum without having to worry about losing the frame. is that advantage given by the opponent giving you an unfair shot at a maximum and the prize?

    John's cue stays on his chin through final delivery because he does'nt drop his elbow....unlike Osullivan, Murphy and Selby. Trump and Robertson also keep chin to cue for the same reason
