Mistake? Wth are you talking about...You know this isn’t our first time reacting to BEYONCE 🤷‍♂️ we have a thing called comment sections where the nice fans are willing to share information about the song we are listening too, or share cool information about her. So we learn along the way from reading the comments. Like we found out in here that she was pregnant with her twins in this video. Actually I didn’t know she was from Texas. Sporto learned that.you know, why do i even respond to the bs comments like this. Go troll somewhere else. I don’t have to explain ourselves. When your comment is invalid anyway

Here’s why the performance was iconic.
    1) Beyoncé is a Black Woman performing at the CMA’s. This doesn’t happen very often- if ever
    2) The song “Daddy Lessons” is from her 6th solo project “LEMONADE” The original version of the song sounds different than the one performed at the CMA’s. While it is still country leaning- the original is less “busy”
    3) Beyoncé chose to include The Chicks (formerly known as The Dixie Chicks) because they had been outcast by the country music industry.
    4) The Chicks took a stance against Bush going to war in the Middle East back in 2001. In addition to this have many feminist messages in their music and because country music tends to lean conservative- they were ousted by country music media nationwide. This performance marked their return to the awards show. Being invited back by such a legendary artist such as Beyoncé was the only way they were going to get back on that specific stage.
    5) There was an outrage by the country music community after this performance as some in that community felt the performance was “pro black”. Because of this, The CMA’s removed the video from their website immediately after its release. It’s hard to find in good quality now.

Lemonade wasn't just about JayZ cheating... It's also politically feuled, and Beyoncé performing country and rock was her way of reappropriating music that was originally black, taking back the power. Also yes Sporto, the Dixie chicks were blackballed by the Country community, which is the very reason why she performed with them. This caused controversy that night and made a whole lotta conservative white people mad, firstly cos she's black and performing country and looked a bit sexy while doing it, and because she chose to do it with the dixie chicks.

I'm sure y'all can tell, but so many people hated this performance. A huge name that is also a Black woman, and the blacklisted dixie chicks really pissed everyone off. There was so much racism as if she doesn't have a country/southern upbringing and as if Black people didn't create the Country genre 🤦🏾‍♀️.

    • @SR-zv5ue
      @SR-zv5ue 4 года назад +65

Exactly and people were trying to say it has nothing to do with her being black but because she's not a country artist. Meanwhile a year before they invited Justin Timberlake who isn't even from the south and definitely not a country artist and didn't even record a country song, and everyone welcomed it with open arms. They also are fine with Taylor Swift who again only does pop now and isn't even from the south. Beyonce actually had a country song to perform and is from Houston Texas and performed and got so much hate and backlash, and we know why. So pathetic. You can even tell some of the celebrities in the audience didn't want her or the Dixie Chicks there. There were a lot of weird awkward red carpet interviews from celebrities trying not to sound pissed that she was there. It was a surprise performance!

Beyonce is from Houston, Texas, 3rd Ward
You know I am not entirely sure but I believe Beyonce picked the Dixie Chicks because it was like a come back for them after they were essentially black balled for speaking out against George Bush during his time in office. Additionally, there was a lot of controversy around Beyonce participating in the country music awards for this song because she is not traditionally a country artist. I believe many people compared her situation to Taylor Swift who isn't even from the south and also doesn't confine herself to the country genre but was happily welcomed in to country music community.

Aside from the blue grassy interlude, Daddy Lessons is fully Beyoncé's song and her conquest of the country genre. This is yet another from Lemonade but with more of a New Orleans/ Louisiana twang on the studio track. I think that this fusion was partially because the Dixie Chicks are an accomplished all women group which is natural for Beyonce. I also think this is also partially a big f-you from Beyonce to the music floating heads that don't like recognizing black artists in the country genre especially when that country fuses other genres like Daddy Lessons does (gospel, blues, etc)

This song is from Beyonce's album Lemonade. She made a surprise appearance at the CMA's and invited The Dixie Chicks to sing with her. Beyonce and The Dixie Chicks are all from Texas and apparently she likes them alot. Yes Beyonce is very particular about who she works with so if they sang a song together that means she chose them. Beyonce runs a tight ship so there are never any leaks of her music or any of her upcoming projects...thats why this was a surprise appearance.

I think it’s time that y’all dived into a complete project.
I know that it’s hard to react to lemonade due to copyright stuff!
However, maybe you could do a review of Lemonade instead and just use different video clips of your likes/dislikes. Another way of course is to chop it up.... I seen a couple successful ones. Most people that I’ve seen usually showed 10 seconds of each video in addition to their favorite line from the poems/ spoken word that’s weaved in between each video. They also paused the video a ton to give their thoughts/ feedback.

That's not necessarily true. There were A LOT of influences coming in from the UK back in the 60's. Many of those bands were such a hit that it definitely morphed what was already happening here in the U.S. So, I'd say modern music, specifically rock / hard rock emerged more due to that fusion of style. Metal is most definitely an amalgamation of older genres like Blues / Jazz and other older styles, just sped up. While there are many that remained untouched which were pioneered by black American artists we still have in pure form today.
The real question I would have is how many of those UK bands had gotten their hands on American blues or Jazz records and were influenced by black american artists originally.

So the CMA’s have done these cross over performances recently to try and boost viewership. Normally it’s a pop star and country star kind of mixing their songs. The original song Daddy’s Lessons didn’t have the Dixie Chicks but they re-recorded the song for the awards show and she choice them because of their history of being vocal about certain issues. As stated before lots of people didn’t want Beyonce there because of her stance on Police Brutality and other issue and the Dixie Chicks had been blackballed for awhile in country music because of comments about George Bush so it was really like a big F U to the country music world and conservatives as a whole.

Anyway funny as always, thanks guys, and you should listen to the original studio song
About why she wanted this: I think since she's from Texas she probably loves country music and wanted to bring her "blackness" in it as a black artist, since it's traditionally white music. But I'm not american so I'm sorry if I'm saying something wrong

Hey there! You guys probably won’t see this, but as to answer your question on why she did the country fusion/blend, the whole Lemonade album was about going back to her Southern roots and it’s evident in the music. There’s a variation of genres from Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, Country, Reggae, Gospel, Funk, Blues and Trap and it’s kinda a reclamation of Black music which correlates with the theme of the album (the reclamation of herself and her marriage after the infidelity from her husband). There’s so much to dive into with the Lemonade album and was named the best female album of the century by Rolling Stone. There’s a Dissect Podcast on Spotify Of Lemonade which talks a lot about the symbolism of the music and videos. This album was a huge pop culture moment and huge peak in Beyoncé’s career. Just wanted to let y’all know 🤪

Long story short, the Dixie Chicks criticized Former President George W. Bush and some American's lost their minds when these women expressed their Freedom of Speech. Sending them death threats and telling them they are "un-American". Beyonce, knew she might not be well received at the Country Music Awards and chose a group to perform with her that stands up for what they believe in despite controversy. Also, PLEASE PLASE PLEASE review Beyonce's original music video for her song titles "Pretty Hurts". I'm very interested in your POV.

Please take a look at Cowboy Carter. The album was created in response to the negativity Beyonce experienced at this CMAs performance. A large part of the Country Music community felt that she had no place here, despite being a country girl herself. The album itself is a masterpiece but it is a full circle moment that begins with this performance.

The fact this, Hold Up and Don’t Hurt Yourself are from the same album is kind of mind blowing! She did this remix for this special surprise performance for the CMA to troll the people in attendance I guess lmao (and her goal for that era was to perform EVERY songs from Lemonade on award/televised shows)
I think you should do De Javu live at BET for your next vid! That is one of her best performance EVER.

Wow the reason the Dixie Chicks were there was kinda for like a shield for the prejudice Beyonce was facing from the CMAs. She actually submitted Daddy Lessons original to the CMA but they denied it saying its not country enough.
