The “I thought about you all day at work” is so real. I remember fighting Placidusax and having to turn the game off and come back to it the next day. All night just running it back in my head, how I would adjust to beat him.
Gotta unequip all armor in order to open that big door underground. Opening the door is a big decision, though, as it impacts the ending of the game. The decision is reversible but requires lots of effort/gameplay. Also, the pillars that shoot fire in the catacomb dungeons can be deactivated by shooting an arrow/bolt at them. Hope that helps!
you should talk to Melania by resting at the grace by the door. going though the door sets you on a path for one of the endings, and she can give you some info to decide if you want to. I beleive you have already failed the questline to get out of that ending. so if you go through the door you might be locked in.
Yea I did talk to my maiden as people have told me I need to do lol. I was upset that nothing happened after hours of reaching that place but i will go back for see what she has to say
Or using mohgs shackle will also make the pillars go down, I’d suggest adding it into your other inventory rather than your main one, very useful in catacombs and obviously the mohg 👀 fight
Lore & Explanations (fromsoft made the worst area essential to the lore): - The Mogh you fought is basically a Margit version of the real Mogh. Just a projection weaker in every way than the real one. - Remember when I said Omens born into royalty were thrown in the sewers? Yeah. You'll also notice lots of them don't have horns, and those ones are also much weaker. - The dead bodies in that forsaken depth were mechants. They were once accused by a man by the name of Shabriri (remember that name) of worshipping the frenzy flame, and so they were buried under the capital together with the frenzy flame. They weren't guilty, but the thing about the frenzy flame, is that the harder you try to stop it, the more you help it. And so because the merchants were punished in such a way, they adopted the frenzy flame and started using its incantations (not all, but a lot of them and all of the ones in that pit). There will be one more similar example in the DLC, except that it'll be way worse that time). - The frenzy flame is chaos incarnate (in Melina's words). It has the power to literally burn the entire world to the ground. It takes over those in great grief and sorrow. Those who go mad. Understanding its danger, many ruling civilizations were extremely harsh on those associated with it. Murder, torture etc. but because of that, the frenzy spread even more, because the sorrow and grief only increased. - Going through THAT door will make you an inheritor of the frenzied flame. An Eden Lord counterpart basically, but instead of being a ruler, you become the worst genocider the world has ever seen (except that there won't be anybody to see). Once you go through that door, Melina will hate you and you'll never see her again, too. There's plenty more consequences but I don't wanna write too much. - Fun fact: You'll have "sealed by Morgott the grace-given" if you hadn't killed him yet.
Wow yo really know your lore in this game lol. That sucks for the merchants that went crazy they are actually chill people! Also, I don't want my Maiden to leave me again lol so I will hold out on opening those doors until I get the full lore and understanding about what I am doing. Mechanical Tip: Rainbow Stones can be used to help navigate multiple paths, or you can toss them off of a cliff to check drop safety. If the Stone doesn't break, the fall is survivable. Also: Mohg's Shackle can be used to briefly chain its namesake to the ground twice during his first Phase, but no longer works during Phase 2. It can also be used to trigger things you have to hit to activate, like Flame Pillars and Illusory Walls.

Agreed! I think Elphael is my favorite but I love this place and the level design really is DS1-like. And the DLC's world design goes back to the DS1 style which is amazing!!
It was for sure an experience lol the lack of a small map really made it difficult to navigate, had relay on memory to know where I have and haven't been lol. The platforming part was fun tho lol
This is a big decision, if you take off your armor and go thru the door, alot will change, Melina might get pissed and it pretty much locks you into a specific ending, pretty cool ass ending but you miss a tiny bit of content, you could always come back to it afterwards when you get near the end of the game.
