    The problem that a lot of people either don't see or ignore is that in order to build a lot of theses awesome structures we would most likely have to destroy the current infrastructure, probably completely. That kind of stuff isn't so easy because you displace a lot of people and their work and the added construction further clogs the current flow of people and goods. We do that all the time but everyone complains about it. Its much easier to start fresh, either by expanding existing cities outwards or starting entirely new ones, than to cycle through old structures and replace them with new ones. This means that cites that were once popular and powerful may become ghost towns (again, we see this all the time).

    Personally I think there won't be underground parks and the levels of future city planning will go like this. Basement: Parking and storage connect to sidewalk-less roadways. Main to 4th floor: Low wealth residential apartments possably windowless (cause your not going to have a view anyways) 5th floor: Transition floor. Station for raised maglev or conventional train and low wealth commercial (grocery stores and such. 6th floor: The roofs of many buildings connected by open skywalks covering the roads. Most intersections remain open to avoid powering ventilation systems for the roads as they would become tunnels. Trees, greenery, benches, basketball courts, and all other things that make a park area built on the roofs of adjacent buildings. Restaurant and other public service industries can buy space on rooftops and take advantage of the choice location if they adhere to the aesthetic codes set by the park. Above 6th floor(if larger building) : high wealth apartment with a great view of a massive park. All offices and factories are located in a separate part of the city thus the need for the roadways(now without the interference of pedestrian crossings) and the maglev or train stations on the 5th floor.

      Leonardo Isidoro The Earths very own electromagnetic field damages dna over time so does the tap water, and the suns UV rays. My point is.....my granny told me that, "back in the 60's they thought we would be living on the moon by now." And look were not........If you want to find the fountain of youth let that be your hobby/dream because people are dumb and rather spend their money on watching netflix and food rather than trying to make sure the human race survives.....
      Then on the flip side is the human mind prepared for forever? We still think some races are better than others, we still kill each other, we still make other species on earth die out, we are beginning to think there is no such thing as good or bad, we still have "glorified" selfish urges (screwing other people over just for money) , we still let money overrule our beliefs, and most importantly we still don't see we are our ancestors.

    Very encouraging ideas. If high rises mix green growing space with human habitats on every floor, might we reach a point where instead of eliminating CO2 scrubbing due to deforestation, cities actually DO most of the CO2 scrubbing? As for buildings harvesting their own power: that's not necessarily bad for the power companies: there could be more money long term in maintenance contracts for all those individual units than the relatively inefficient central distribution networks of today.

    Plants use Fibonacci spirals to maximize the sunlight they receive, so we should plant them in bigger Fibonacci spirals so they take up less space. And instead of soil, we could plant them in giant piles of all the exact nutrients they need to grow. We can use underground irrigation and make it automatically collect the water the plants don't use when it flows out the bottom. If we want to farm things underground, we could use lenses, similar to magnifying glasses, to direct the sunlight through one small hole. Then the sunlight would be spread out again by reversed lenses. We could put thin tracks above the plants so robots could travel around harvesting the plants without blocking sunlight. Or we could use artificial light.

    This will be a big part of the solution for our ecological crisis. To support the future population of 2040-50, we will need a landmass comparable to Brazil to feed the future population, we will need to move towards vertical farming, move towards growing meat from stemcells, adopting renewable energy, and recycling rare earths, all of which will drastically reduce land usage, and water consumption as well as carbon footprint.

    Of course, a solution to such a problem could also be birth control. The problem with that is countries, or religions that don't practice birth control, they overpopulate then migrate to countries that did have their population expansion under control, thus overpopulating that country as well, which is a good reason for restricting migration and these countries, either by religion of economics, that don't keep their population expansion under control, will have to deal with it themselves. The Catholic Church opposes birth control and is dominate in some of the poorest countries on earth, but when that country can not support their people, does the Catholic Church come around with billions of dollars to support them, NOI Thus creating the problem and making it worse.

    2050? We should be exploring other planets ourselves by probably 2020, with first active colonies probably going up by 2050.

    • @nightlightabcd
      @nightlightabcd 8 лет назад

      +Troy Fowler - Are you on drugs or drunk. We are not even close to such a dream. We are already exploring other planets and there are no other planets in this solar system that can support life, so we should be working on preserving this one, instead of wasting it for maximum profits for the few!

    • @flamebird2218
      @flamebird2218 8 лет назад

      +nightlightabcd Don't be so close minded. The universe is so vast, you have no idea what is out there. Just because there are not any (known planets) in the solar system that can support life, doesn't mean that there are no planets in the universe besides earth that can not support life, that's just absurd! You say "were not even close to such a dream", just look at the people of the 19th and 18th centuries (1800s and 1700s) and before that. They thought it would never be possible for humans to fly , but look where we are now; we have airplanes, and helicopters, and electricity only started to be massively used in one century. In the early 1800s, electricity was unheard of; they would have thought of you as delusional if you told them about it. But things massively changed only decades before the 20th century even began, things massively changed. Just look at how the steam engine changed the world. We had a huge technology boom in the 20th and 19th centuries, that doesn't mean another one is not going to happen soon, anything is possible my friend. However, I do agree that we should also preserve the planet we live on as much as possible, you do have a point there. Also, just imagine a future where the people are entirely in control, and the extremely rich do not control everything, and where humans can do anything beyond any limit without being told by those who are close minded, doubtful of literally everything, and those who have only 0.001 percent of the view of the multiverse that we live in telling us that it is impossible, imagine a world without those people, where everyone is free to explore the entire vast endless multiverse without being forced to stay on this one round giant space rock that we call "Earth".

    • @flamebird2218
      @flamebird2218 8 лет назад

      +Troy Fowler While I do think that someday this will be possible, it would take more than four years, a lot more than that, the revolution of technology is just beginning. But you never know what could happen.

    • @flamebird2218
      @flamebird2218 8 лет назад

      +nightlightabcd You act as if nothing can be done to save this place, sir, I have to say that you are not entirely aware of what people are actually doing to help this place. Instead of saying extremely negative things to people on the internet, why don't you prove you really care about the 7 billion people on Earth by actually trying to help, instead of complaining and doing nothing for the rest of your life. besides, we should not have religious wars either, we have been fighting each other about this since, or even before the crusades. Why can't you people all just get along instead of massacring each other for no logical reason. For an entire millennium, people have been fighting over this. Can't we all just accept each other for who we are, and live our own lives instead of forcing another person's believes upon one another. You just throw hope out of the window and act as if it does not exist. Complaining about Earth is not going to fix it, It will not fix it's self either.
