There’s no team chemistry. Bench is mediocre. Russ doesn’t trust his teammates. Melo is not the same anymore. Plus, George is struggling. Like others have said, they need to infuse more offence around Adams. I have a strong feeling that George will leave this off season.
If teams like Grizzles doesn't want to trade their washed-up stars like Gasol and Conley, OKC wouldn't want to trade Russ too, without him franchise may even struggle to fill the arena. And the day Russ signed that 200+mil. extension, he eliminated his team from contending. It's a bad age to be OKC fan.

The problem is that Steven Adams isn’t good enough as a passer. And if Adams was truly unstoppable in the paint, I’m sure the Thunder would get him much more touches. This year he’s having his best year as a pro and he’s getting his number called about 9-10 times a game. He could be getting about 12-15 touches a game, but would that really make them that much better? I think PG struggling as badly as he’s been is the real problem. Without his shot they’re not getting the spacing they need. He’s shooting great overall for the season, but since the all star break he’s been terrible.

But they didn’t have a coach with the balls to tell them what was best for the team. Apparently Westbrook doesn’t like it when plays are called, which is just stupid. Adams (and Roberson before he got hurt) are the backbone of this team. Adams could easily average 20/10 if he got 13 shots per game. Roberson is the best Perimeter defender in the NBA and one of the best role players. This team with an actual PG would be killer.
They should make an ad about Coach Nick's smooth transitions to ads.

Four weeks from now when OKC is in the WCF everyone will be like, "Where did this Thunder come from? They are finally playing to their potential!" OKC is built for the playoffs. The style of play is perfect for a playoff series. Iso heavy, slow it down, defensive juggernaut. Too bad they don't have Dre. That's the reason they fell off a cliff the second half of the season. People forget that from Dec to the All Star break they had the best record in the league (If I'm remembering correctly.)people just didn't pay attention because they started so poorly. We'll be a tough out in the playoffs.

Mr Steeze yes it does, you're just incompetent lol. Russel plays in a system that is meant to inflate his stats, even if it is at the cost of his teammates. Russ only passes when there is a possibility of the assist, which is why he is last in passes that lead to assists. Russ doesn't let others generate their own offense. Russ dribbles out the shot clock and forces his teammates into bad shots, with some going in. Russ generating high assists is a result of him holding onto the ball more and not involving his teammates. Maybe his team would play better if they were not limited to catch and shoot roles.

Andre Roberson's injury was the problem. How can anybody say that Andre Roberson isn't important to the Thunder when his presence makes the Thunder a top 2 team in Defense and without him, a bottom 10 team in defense.
Carmelo defense so bad he always looks at Steven Adams in every play he gets beat with the defense like, "where the F is the help", when you can honestly just retort, "where's the defense on your end."

It seems like having so much superstar player on one team is a bad idea in this era. The superstars player in this era have more ego than we have maybe a decade ago, superstars these day wants to be on spotlight, they unwillingness to play in a role less than they used to be really hurt the team, not only that, it also hurt their confidence, which mean also hurt their games.
So, in my opinion, the recipe of success in nba in this era is: 1-2 max of superstars player, adding that with a bunch of dependable role player, then you'll make a dynasty in this league.
Example:
1. rockets: superstar: harden, cp3. Role player: pj tucker, eric gordon, ariza, capella, nene,etc)
2. Raptors: superstar: derozan, lowry
Role: jv, vanvleet, anunoby, ibaka, powell,etc.
Also depends on which superstars too
There are few who do transitions as well as the coach
The fact that melo won’t come off the bench is what’s killing this team. He laughs at the thought of it. He shouldn’t. He’s 34 years old and he’s not exactly in his prime. I think they would play better with him off the floor.
